  Skin Editing
Posted by: Danka - 2005-07-26, 06:16 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

trying my hand at editing some skins, using a program such as editplus.

My method so far is... make small changes, save the file... then reload gbpvr each time to view the results. (in my case ten thousand times per hour... lol)

I understand gbpvr will not load if full of errors, but is it possible to refresh gbpvr while it is running, and view the changes with one click. (lazy me..)

or am i approaching skin editing the wrong way...

btw... Im new to pvr world, and I think gbpvr is the coolest, thanks to sub, and all the others here for their hard work Smile

  HTTP Streaming media
Posted by: shushry - 2005-07-26, 02:37 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I think this question has been touched on from various angles in past posts, but what I'd like to know is:

- Can GBPVR, and/or MyVideo (currently) play media (such as wmv) from a URL? i.e., http://my.domain.com/myfile.wmv and buffer-play this content, just as windows media player would (i.e., begin downloading and play as soon as enough buffered content has been downloaded)?

- or, can it accept such a metafile (.asx, .wvx, etc) as a file input, which contains an href to such a file as above?

Reasoning: I'd like to throw my content on an http server, and buffer-play my media.

I've tried creating regular wvx and asx files (added those extensions to the suffix.xml as video), as well as adding url's to standard playlists without success....yet some of the posts elude to the idea that buffer-play of supported formats (such as wmv) is possible.

Any ideas, thoughts, hacks, or plans?

  Adding delay to default timeshift viewing
Posted by: capone - 2005-07-26, 01:57 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I was watching something last night, and had added about a 5sec delay or so from a RW/FF just before the end. I noticed the skips end the current file ends and the new one starts was almost unnoticable.

There is a live tv delay, and a mvp delay, but is there a way to add a regular timeshift delay? Something flexible like the others to find the least annoying balance between waiting for the change and getting the least amount of skip?

The other possibility (and maybe the better alternative) is not to pad the start of the program (when you select/change to), but to start recording the next timeslot sooner. It would be like adding the padding to viewing in this model.

All things being equal, I think the latter would better (I think...may be technically not be). It would really only be useful for those watching the same channel from one program to the next, but that would still make a good portion of TS viewing smoother.

  Focus control between GB-PVR and other software
Posted by: Marbles_00 - 2005-07-26, 01:29 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I've just started using GB-PVR and I'm pretty impressed by what it can do. Though I am using Xlobby for most controls, its nice to be able to turn off the extra features I don't want to use an solely us GB-PVR as a PVR/TV player. Even skinning is not that difficult. My GB-PVR screens look similar to my Xlobby screens.

What would be good is the ability to create a button that is capable of setting the focus from GB-PVR to Xlobby (or whatever other software). Currently I can have both programs running, and a button in Xlobby was created that executes the sendfocus.exe program which switches to GB-PVR. Could something like this be setup to send the focus back to Xlobby? Otherwise, I would have to exit and close GB-PVR, which I don't want to do.

If some one has any other way, or if this has already been done, please let me know.

Marbles

  Cinergy T2 BDA
Posted by: fishy6969 - 2005-07-26, 12:46 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I've just got one of the freeview digital doda's from Terratec - the Cinergy t2. Have finally got it working with GBPVR.

The BDA drivers are here : http://supportde.terratec.net/modules.ph...it&lid=790

And this seems to work in the bda.ini file :

[CinergyT2 USB]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Cinergy T2 Tuner/Demodulator
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Hope this is useful!

  Problem with inaccurate TV listings and show batches
Posted by: GoodGuys - 2005-07-26, 11:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello,

In Israel (where I live), it is common that the show listings are not 100% accurate and actual showing times may deviate by up to 5 minutes on some channels.

Couple this with the fact that once a show enters GBPVR's database (usually about a week ahead of its time) it will never be changed, even if the listing now has it more accurately listed.

What do you get? Nothing that show padding can't solve, right? Right. Except in the case of batches of shows (like showing 4 episodes in a row) or shows that are contiguous in the Guide. Usually, there is a commercial break between shows, but I have many so-called premium channels, that don't have commercials, and one show starts immediately after the end of another. This makes it very annoying to watch.

An example of this is BBC Prime's Doctors series, which airs 4-5 episodes in a row on weekends, which allows me to record them for my wife in a batch instead of their weekday slots. But having done that becomes a nuisance to watch the show.

I don't know how to solve this problem, but I might have a suggestion (maybe this should go to the wishlist?):
How difficult would it be to allow overlapping padding? I mean, if there are 2 shows on the same channel in contiguous slots, would it be possible to send the video stream of the overlapping periods to 2 files?

Thanks,
GGF

  Weather: city download hangs
Posted by: abyrne - 2005-07-26, 09:08 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (16)

I have recently installed GBPVR. Love it. Use it with MVP.

For the weather plug-in, I can add zip codes using the Config settings, and the forecasts and weather are downloaded and display fine.

But when I select "Add" on either the MVP or on the PC I just get the "downloading... this may take a while..." message box.

I have retried several times in the past couple days.

I have cable broadband and have waited hours (upto 6). It just remains hung at the message box.

How long should it take?
Any suggestions why it wouldn't be working?

  Problem: No files are saved
Posted by: gblinckmann - 2005-07-26, 02:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I've got a problem with GBPVR. I've got no idea why it's doing this, but all of a sudden it has just stopped recording programs. It looks like it is recording, but no files are being saved to the hard drive. I've tried a fresh install, but I get the same thing. I've tried other software to check the Hauppauge cards and they are fine. Live TV works and I can play back old recordings.

I've got dual PVR-150MCE cards and I've attached the log files.

  Can’t get My Music play lists to load
Posted by: derek - 2005-07-26, 02:15 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (9)

I just set up my first PVR and managed to solve all my problems thanks to the great info on the forum. Unfortunately I can’t seem to get this one figured out. I see the play list and when I select it and push load I go to the play list screen but nothing loads. I’ve tried several different formats of lists but none will load. Also when I push the red button on the remote it won’t create a list.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks
Derek
