  DirecTV Channel Control Utility release
Posted by: cheval - 2005-06-17, 03:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I just released a plugin utlity to control changing channels from an external DirecTV RCA set top box using the low speed data port. The utility can be used as a .exe plugin and will work through any serial port.

You can grab the latest version at: DirecTV Channel Control Utility

Please let me know if you have any problems with the utility. I will be releasing the source code shortly (once I clean it up a little bit Smile).

Channel changing is extremely fast as I hope you all will see.

If enough people are interested in getting a cable directly from me. I may be willing to put together a bulk set for very cheap! If so I will talk to the local electronics outlet and see what I can do.

JPG file that causes 'Out of Memory'
Posted by: GoodGuys - 2005-06-17, 02:26 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello,

I've read the other threads about virtual memory size, and I am not 100% sure this is the same issue. In any case, I am putting it here for Reven to test it out when he has time:

I have a JPG file that consistently causes MyPictures to scream it's out of memory. I have noticed that it does that only when there are a sufficiently large number of files in the directory.

The file is attached. If I put it alone in some dir - it's fine. But it is on a CD that I have, and there are 514 files in that directory. The significance of 512 is not lost on me... However, I copied the entire dir to my harddisk, and saw that it still does this. I removed the read-only attrib, and that didn't help.

Having removed one file to see if the relative position matters proved that it doesn't. I then removed 129 more files, still no luck. I then removed another 128 file, and were left with 256 files. Still no go. Removed 2 more (total=254) still bad. Removed 126 more (total 128) - GOOD! No problem viewing the file.

Cannot type 'g' in MyVideos rename dialog
Posted by: GoodGuys - 2005-06-17, 01:53 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have configured my Hauppauge silver-34 remote to use the number keys like cell-phone text entry. Somehow, in MyVideos rename dialog, I can't type 'g'. When I touch the '4' button, I get 'h', then 'i' then '4' then 'h' again.

To verify that this is not a problem with my remote, or with my GBPVR settings, I hit '4' in the Weather-Plugin's Add dialog. I get a nice cycle of:
G,H,I,4,g,h,i and again G,H...

This is easily overcome by using the on-screen keyboard, but I thought you'd want to know.

Thanks,

  Wireless bridge and the MVP
Posted by: CodeMonkey - 2005-06-17, 12:04 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Has anyone tried using one of the Wireless (802.11g) ethernet bridge devices with the MediaMVP? If so, which one(s) and how do they work?

Thanks.

  Hauppage 500MCE setup problems
Posted by: cmf - 2005-06-17, 08:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

As a complete newbie I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the following? I am having difficulty tuning into freeview channels with GBPVR with an initial installation. I have a Thomson DTI2300 settop box connected to my WinTV PVR 500MCE card via an S-Video input (and stereo inputs). I followed the installation instructions from the GBPVR website but I don't seem to be able to tune into any channels. I am unsure whether the EPG source is correct - XMLTV settings ask for a file which I can't find so I have used "bleb". Tuning assistant scans through 107 possible channels but finds nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Chris

  Video Archiver crashes
Posted by: Mark Adams - 2005-06-17, 06:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Just installed GB-PVR and really like it a lot. One problem though:

I installed the Video Archiver Plugin and whenever I try to play a file listed in the menu, it throws an error:

"Error: Method not found: Void GBPVR.Public.IPluginHelper.PlayVideoFile
(System.String, System.String, System.String)."

I've tried uninstalling-reinstalling the plugin. I've tried uninstalling-reinstalling GB-PVR. Nothing has fixed it.

Any idea what this is and how I can correct it?

Thanks.

Mark

ATI TV Wonder ELite - I'm Still Confused
Posted by: Ross - 2005-06-17, 04:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I am new here and really admire what gbpvr is doing. I've had my ATI TV Wonder Elite for a few months but its still in its unopened package until I can find a software with an electonic program guide for scheduling TV recording. Recent threads here seem to indicate that the gbpvr software now works with the TV Wonder ELite. But other threads say that there is no sound when the Elite is used with gbpvr. So I still am not sure if I should finally unpack the ATI and download gbpvr to use with it, or keep waiting. I just want a decent program guide to interface witht the TV Wonder Elite

  couple of questions
Posted by: mishac - 2005-06-17, 03:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have a few questions for the gb-pvr experts out there Smile

1) Are the key bindings configurable at all? My remote (Cyberlink Powercinema Remote that comes with the Theatrix card) has volume up and down buttons that change the pc's master volume. I like this. However, GBPVR has its own internal volume, and I would like to change its keybindings so the left and right buttons on my remote don't change it by accident.

2) I've been told that enabling "encoder pass through" on ATI 550 based cards can help with video/audio synch issues. When I enabled it, my audio went away entirely. When I reinstalled GBPVR from scratch, and tried to watch live TV, it gives me the infamous "Object is not something something instantiated obect blah" msg. (I'm not at the HTPC right now, so I can't remember the exact wording Tongue). Is there a quick fix for this?

3) This one is a really n00b question Smile How do I get channel icons automagically? I'm in Montreal Canada, and I use the zap2it listings to get my episode guide working. Does one need to use XMLTV to get channel icons to autopopulate? I don't want to invest the time and effort in manually inserting the icons, but if I can set them to autodownload, that'd be awsome.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  Plextor PX-M402U support
Posted by: dazz - 2005-06-17, 03:56 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi, I am getting a USB device for a notebook setup. I am looking at the Plextor PX-M402U, but I don't get how I could hook up cable to that. I can't figure out if it would even work with cable. Would I need to get a coaxial-to-rca adapter? Does it have a tuner built-in? It must, if GB-PVR supports it....right?

I currently have a PX-AV100U (the cheapest Plextor USB device), which actually works very well. But it doesn't/wouldn't/couldn't work with GBPVR, right?

  GBPVR's handling of comskip-generated files
Posted by: chasef - 2005-06-17, 03:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Sub,
I looked everywhere but couldn't find it: how does GB-PVR handle the .txt files generated by comskip? In other words, what exactly does it do as far as ignoring any headings, etc. in the file before it gets to the actual cutpoints? Thanks!
