I've also been trying to set up xmltv with my gbpvr install. I already had the xmltv import setup with Mediaportal - so was looking to simply config gbpvr to read the same tvguide.xml file.

In MP, i used an 8 hour (for perth gmt+8) offset.. and so i did the same in gbpvr.

However, when i check it in tv guide, the programs are there but the offset is wrong. For the current time, I am getting the old programs (same day, but late by more than 5 hours).

What have i missed or done wrong?

Just to report that gbpvr 0.92.8 is having trouble detecting a channel on my Compro DVB-T300 card. It handles all other channels just fine.

This was previously also a problem that Mediaportal had. However, as i recall, the developers fixed it so that MP can handle the 125 MHz band (if that makes sense).
The channel frequency is 536500.

with the new release by sub, it will soon be my first time to update gbpvr to a newer version. Is there any how-to available? Do I just install the new version right as it were the "from the scratch"-installation? Will it replace the old version as well as take over all settings (and the database, of course ;-)?

I just discovered GBPVR this weekend and my first impression is that it looks awesome - Breathing life into my otherwise unused Media-MVP.

I want to buy a DVB-T card (or, ideally, an external USB2 device) to receive digital terrestrial broadcasts. I'm currently a little confused because I've read that GBPVR requires the card to have hardware MPEG encoding, but also that the Hauppauge Win TV Nova-T USB2 is suitable (which, as far as I know, doesn't have hardware MPEG encoding). Is it the BDA driver that makes that possible?

Is it worth considering a card without hardware MPEG encoding? How CPU intensive is software encoding? I'm ultimately aiming to have two capture devices and would like the PC to be usable for other tasks at the same time.

Which device would you recommend? I'm looking to spend less than £100.

I have the latest "My Music" installed (from the wiki) and was playing some music. The situation is as follows:
1. A music track was currently playing
2. I was going through the various albums I have, using the red button to add to the current playlist.
3. The tracks were being added to the playlist (checked with "Playlist" menu option).

My problem is: when the currently playing track finished it started playing the last track in the playlist. The remaining playlist entries were removed. The playlist then only showed the playing track.

Is it possible to build up a playlist whilst playing the tracks?

I'm new to GBPVR, but I just got it installed this weekend, and have been toying with all of the settings. I ran into a question in trying to set my default recording quality. I have been using Hauppauges WinTV2K for a while now, and have come up with a set of recording settings that seem to provide good video quality, while at the same time do not take as much disk space as the "default" medium quality settings.

I have set these up under the "Custom1" quality settings, but can't find a way to make them default. Am I missing something? I realize that I can manually select them by going through the recording settings everytime I want to record a show, but that's a pain. Can't I set Custom1 to be the default?

On a different note, is there an easy way to setup another PC as a GBPVR client? I would like to be able to view all the same screens that I have on the server and my Media MVP, but can't seem to find a simple way to do this. If I could get the client PC to act like another MVP, that would be perfect. Any ideas?

We're developing a solution for schools to use multiple WinTV PVR cards to record using multiple cards.

Once I installed 2 PVR150s I installed all drivers and then I discovered GBRecord, which was a great app to test the system performance of record from multiple sources.

I now need to re-create these capture graphs in DirectShow. When I try to do this using GraphEdit I can't get the Hauppauge File Writer to produce an openable file. When I use GB-PVR Writer, it records perfectly as it does in GBRecord.

What are the differences between GB-PVR Writer and Hauppauge File Writer?
Why doesn't the Hauppauge File Writer work properly?
Am I allowed to redistribute "GB-PVR Writer" in my applications?

Hey everyone, I know this is a Hauppauge question and not a GB-PVR question, but it does have to do with the MPEG Video drivers that come with GB-PVR, so I'm going to ask here anyways.

Today I tried burning my first mpg files to DVD+RW and played them in the DVD player. On the DVD player downstairs (an APEX AD-1200) the contrast seemed very high, even though things seemed fine on my computer monitor upstairs.

Other details:

I used TMPGEnc's DVD Author software to make the DVD.
I'm using the Intervideo NON-CSS (?) Video codec on GB-PVR on my computer upstairs with the PVR.
**EDIT**: I'm using the latest drivers (the ones that are labeled as prerelease, but aren't. **123 I think.)

Basically I'm wondering if either:

a) Is there something wrong with my DVD authoring process where the DVD is brighter than the MPG file?

or

b) Should I use the Hauppauge tweak tools to make the image darker (lower the contrast), and if so, how can I brighten the image displayed in GB-PVR?

Something doesn't quite add up here. The display seems just fine on the computer, whether it's been recorded on the PVR or coming from another source *cough*. A DVD, that's right.

Do Windows MPEG decoders have some sort of "contrast normalization" that makes the images show up OK?

Have other users had to tweak the Brightness and Contrast settings of their Hauppauge PVR cards?

**EDIT** One other piece of info. The media I was burning to DVD was a cartoon, large blocks of consistent colour. Not sure if this is relevant or not.

sub i know you have been putting this off, but i would really like to start playing around with this, like when i get new emails i would like to display message globablly in gbpvr saying "You've Got Mail" and handy control over to that box (may need a override HasControl() method which returns a boolean or something...) so i could either click an "ok" button, or set a timer to display the message for five seconds, then automatically hide/close the popup. its a pain in the arse, but a really nice feature to have.
