  PVR-500/FM Radio
Posted by: SickBoy - 2005-05-16, 05:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

My Hauppage PVR500MCE is playing great with GB-PVR thus far, with one exception - I'm not able to get the FM Radio function to work. After installing the LAME encoder as directed, when I try to tune to my favorite radio station, all I hear is audio from the last TV station I watched (briefly).

I saw some threads regarding VIA chipset motherboards and the PVR500MCE, but I don't seem to suffer any of those issues. I am able to watch and record and playback TV shows just fine. The FM antenna is hooked up. I have two capture sources set up in GB-PVR, one for each tuner on the PVR500MCE.

Here's my setup:

P3 866 MHz
HP OEM system (Asus motherboard with VIA chipset)
GF4 Ti4600
SB Live Value OEM
768 MB PC133
30 GB IDE disk

I set this system up about a month ago with Windows XP Pro and downloaded the latest available drivers for everything at the time.

TIA....

  scart signals
Posted by: stefan - 2005-05-16, 03:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Anyone out there know much about scart cables and signals in them? My TV set seems to "broadcast" whatever I'm watching. It broadcasts this on the scart socket, so if I connect something through scart I can see it (or hear it, if I connect it to my amplifier).

This is all fine, and I guess most sets do this. What I don't like, however, is that the tv continues to broadcast the last viewed channel, even if I select the scart input on my tv set. So, say I watch channel 5, and then I switch to scart input on the tv, wanting to watch a dvd. Then I get the dvd picture on the tv, but channel 5 seems to go out through the scart and sort of "bounce" on back from the dvd player, so I get a vague but still noticable ghost picture of channel 5 :-(

I don't get this on my other scart socket. This is however connected to my gbpvr box, and it has an in/out switch on the scart contact.

As I see it, there are two reasons for this. Either it is that my gbpvr scart cable is of higher quality, or it is because it has the in/out switch :-) Which one of those would you guys guess on?

  Tivo like TV Guide
Posted by: Moat - 2005-05-16, 03:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (13)

I am a long time Tivo user and love the way they have thier TV Guide information. I was wondering if there is anyway to have GB-PVR display it's guide like that. Would it be possible to do that as a plugin?

Oh, thank you for all your hard work.

MVP client - need some help
Posted by: scorpion2k - 2005-05-16, 03:02 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (40)

Hey everyone!
I'm currently working on a MVP client, generally to watch TV on my Laptop. The RFB Protocol is now completly implemented, so the GUI will be shown up correctly.
Now I'm working on the implementation of Media Transfer Protocol. At this point i could need some help:
Does anyone can suggest me a good free mp3 library? Also i cood need some good free MPEG 2 library. This library has to decode the data to raw pixel data ( either RGB or YUV).

  Save EPG with recorded program.
Posted by: doron_amedey - 2005-05-16, 01:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hello friends,

I want to know, is there a way to record the EPG data on the program I record to be attached to it?

Explanation:
---------------
Lets suppose I like some series on TV (I.E: CSI), and I record all its chapters!
Is there a way that I’ll press one of the records and see the brief for that program after I recorded?
If I have 20 chapters, and I want to see what was on chapter 1/5/17...

Thanks.

Recording problem while using IR Blaster
Posted by: ssky - 2005-05-16, 12:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello guys, I am using a PVR-150 card to record programs from my dish reciever dp301. Everything looks okay connection wise. I tried to record program without using the IR Blaster that came with the tuner card and it works like a charm. However, as soon as I turned the IR Blaster on in the GBPVR config then all of a sudden, my reocrding doesn't work. Disable the IR Blaster and I am good again.

I checked the gbpvrrecordingservices.log and found these entries

5/15/2005 1:05:00 PM.018 INFO [23] Found new programme requiring recording: Geo News

5/15/2005 1:05:01 PM.643 VERBOSE [23] Save(): Updated existing scheduled recording

As you guys can see GBPVR tries to start the recroding services but then kinda hangs in as there are no more entries and I know that when recording is good then there are more entries in the log after that like completing the recording, saving the recorded program etc.

Can anyone help me? I am using the latest build of GBPVR.

TIA

  Remote Problem...
Posted by: lonc_25 - 2005-05-16, 11:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have had the GB-PVR software up and running. I am still testing several things, but I really like what I see so far.

Because I am still testing my pc is in the middle of the living room (planning on moving it to another room, but that's another project) Well, last night when I was trying to hooked the satellite back up so the wife would not scream, I stepped on the cable for the IR Input on the PVR150 card. Not my remote seems to be dead.

Can anyone suggest another remote? I like how the 150 remote works with GB-PVR. Should I just get another card and remote combo?

Thanks and watch where you step.

  Watching current recording problem
Posted by: pbb - 2005-05-16, 02:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've had a problem a few times in the past where I'd be recording something with GBPVR and decide about 20 minutes into the program that I actually want to go ahead and watch it from the beginning. I've got 2 PVR-150MCE cards on my PC so I didn't think this would be a problem - and most of the time it isn't, but sometimes the recording will cutoff. Generally it cuts off at the time at which I started watching it (while it was still recording). As an example I started watching a 30 minute show from the beginning when it was 20 minutes into the show. The recording stops at the 20 minute mark. Last night I got a similar, but different problem. I was doing a manual recording to get the last 2 episodes of Enterprise in one recording. We watched the recording up until about the last 30 minutes (while it was recording) and then turned off the MVP. When we went back to watch the ending this evening we found out that the recording stops around that point as well. Sad I'm using an older machine with a P3 with 288MB of RAM on Windows XP. When I monitor the PC usage with Remote Desktop I notice that the processor is only taking about 2% hit even when I'm recording on both cards so I don't think the PC resources are an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  PVR350 video/audio output corruption
Posted by: skreien - 2005-05-16, 02:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

Having a problem with playback on the PVR 350. It will be working fine, then I'll press the [forward|back|rewind|ffwd|stop] button, and the video goes crazy, kind of a pinkish with bars, and the audio stops. I can stop and restart the GBPVR, and it doesn't reset the video. As soon as I exit the GBPVR the video output goes back to the default color bars, but the video/audio output is not reinitialized when I start GBPVR back up again. I have to reboot the computer. I just rebuilt the computer yesterday fresh with all the latest software and drivers to try and eliminate the problem. This first happened on the .91.10 release. It is completely at random, it's happened on all of the buttons I've mentioned, and many recordings. I reboot and it may happen again, it may not. It could happen 10 times in a row on the same or different recordings, or live TV, or not happen again for the next week. GBPVR seems to still be working fine in the background. Just no video/audio output.

This is only the second problem I've ever had to post in the forums on. You guys (Sub, take a bow!) are awesome! Thanks for all the hard work.
