  No sound in recorded shows
Posted by: jbird1061 - 2005-04-10, 09:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I'm having a sound issue and I feel like I'm missing something simple. I hear sound when I use live tv, but I have no sound when I play the recorded show back. If I use windows media player to play the show, there is sound recorded. I've tried adjusting the audio decoder and audio renderer settings in the config program but it still doesn't work. My current settings are for system default - I figure if the default settings work for windows Media player, it should work for gbpvr.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jon

BleepBloop is a plugin that will add navigation and selection sounds to GBPVR. It probably won't work with the MVP.

For more information and to download it, get it from here:

http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...BleepBloop

For installation instructions make sure to read the Readme.txt included in the zip file.

Yes, another toy for you skin engineers.

This was mainly done as a proof of concept for a future plugin helper.

Okay, you either love them or you hate them, but here is a plugin that will add navigation and selection sounds to GBPVR. I did this mainly as a proof of concept for a future plugin.

If you install this plugin you will gain the following:

Left, Right, Up, Down arrows will play a movement sound.
Return will play a selection sound
Home will play a Cancel sound.

Included with the package are three default sounds, plus some alternative sounds.

This will probably not work on the MVP as I just output the sounds to the default sound driver for the PC.

not sure if this should go under support or wishlist, but if you have a low resolution video file (eg 320x240), the onscreen display looks terrible, since i assume its scaled down to 320x240 then upscaled to fit the window, just hoping it is possible to get around this.

What xvid encoders do people use?
Posted by: jorm - 2005-04-10, 06:54 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

What do people use to encode their mpegs to xvid/divx.

I had done a few with the autogk command line but can not get them to be transcoded back on the mvp. Preferably one with a command line so I can batch it at night.

  Trans2MVP
Posted by: magnayn - 2005-04-10, 06:05 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - No Replies

I've just started using my MVP with the GB-PVR stuff - I mainly use it to watch transcoded AVIs (previously by hacking around with the vdr-mediamvp plugin), so the quality of this is important to me [:-)].

* I find some of my AVIs just fail to transcode with an 'unsupported format' in the log - but they do play in media player. I know there is some issue in the hauppauge implementation if the file has AC3 audio - is it the same deal here?

* Is the MVP getting switched to the correct video mode (NTSC or PAL) dependent on the framerate, or is the transcoding doing framerate conversion too? This could explain why most of the files that will play loose audio sync after any misencodings from the input stream.

* Some video plays at the top of the screen with a black bar at the bottom. I'm assuming this is because the input AVI has an odd (non-MP2 spec) number of lines. When I used mencoder to transcode, I just told it to make the output the full framesize, but to shift the video to the centre of the screen - is this possible in Trans2MVP (which is I assume the process that does the transcoding) ?

* Is there any way of hooking in an 'alternate' video transcoding engine? My experience is that mencoder is way better than the windows media stuff at getting these translations 'right', and require consideralby less messing around with graph files...

Hey Guys,

But if anyone is interested in getting a copy just let me know and I can email it to you. Or if someone can tell me how to get the skin on here that would be even better.

Enjoy,

  Help needed for UK setup
Posted by: huemax - 2005-04-10, 03:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

Hi all,
I've just started to try build my first HTPC and could do with a little help from anyone that has succesfully built one.
I hope to build it primarily using my existing PC but once I have gained a little confidence in what I am doing, I hope to house the whole thing in a custom case. My PC is AMD Athlon XP 1700 with 1gb RAM and a seperate Hard drive dedicated to media 160gb. This currently has GBPVR running with an aerial connected for channels 1 to 5 analogue and my ntl cable (pace 4000) conected to a dvd recorder via scart (this is for its svideo output which is connected to PVR350 svideo in.

The problems I have are:

That the cable channel on GBPVR has no sound but it is ok with wintv2000. I find that if I change up channels from 5 to cable the sound disappears and when I change back to 5 that channel also now has no sound. I can fix this on channel 5 by changing down to 4 then back to 5, but it still has no sound on the cable channel. This was setup as an SVideo Exteral Tuner on Capture Device #1.

For outputing to the TV I have an SVideo to scart lead from the SVideo out on the PVR350 but that won't work on GBPVR for either live tv or recorded video. This has been tested and works with wintv2000.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to whats happening here?

Encode recordings using codecs on system
Posted by: jamesth - 2005-04-10, 12:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Again, apologies if this feature already exists!

I'd like to be able to encode my recordings with codecs on my system on-the-fly (for example, encode the video with xvid).

Cheers,

James
