So here's a question for people, do you need to install the MediaMVP Software from Hauppage?

I found that if I installed it there are two services that run:

MVPMedia and MVPMediaSvc

When I turn both of them off... GBPVR seems to boot up on my Tv but when I go to watch a video... no worky... All I get is a black screen. Additionally when I go to run lets say Net Radio, it appears to be working since I see the text change at the bottom of the screen, but no music comes out.

Then when I go and turn on MVPMediaSvc along with the GBPVR Recording service presto... Video and sound return. But there are a few other things that appear messed up like the time at the top of a screen when watching a video doesn't seem to update. Oh yeah and when I go to watch live TV it automatically goes into Stop mode and I have to press play to watch live tv. Ooooh it's soooo bugging me... Anyway, if someone... anyone... could help me out it would be greatly appreaciated.

So I finally built my HTPC and brought my main PC back to the gameroom. I'd like to transfer my recordings to the new rig but I'm not sure how to do that. What would be the best way?

I have just gotten around to trying the .9107 and thus now the .9108 release and in the .9105 release I had posted that I was unable to click on the settings button on the DVD & Remote tab when I chose the USB-UIRT as my device. The button was greyed out.

in the release notes of .9107 this issue was addressed...sorta....the button is no longer greyed out, but when I click on it, it doesn't do anything.

This is after a full system reinstall...well....I have a image from ghost that includes everything I do up until I install GB-PVR (drivers, programs, misc software configs).

So....I'm not sure if this issue has really been fixed or not. Is anyone else having this issue on a full system re-install?

I've been using xrecord for a while and everything I've scheduled is working with the exception of one program. I'm trying to schedule 60 Minutes for 19-20:00 on Sunday night only but can't get it to do it. When I check the scheduler it shows but nothing ends up in the pending. The only way I can get it to work is to schedule it manually. Any ideas?

Hey guys I just checked my GBPVR directory, and my GBPVR.MDB was 75 mb. Is it me, or doesn't that sound kinda big?

when I clicked while viewing pictures I got :

Error: key cannot be null
parametername: key

and MyMusic and MyPictures did not work until I restart GBPVR

but I cannot reproduce again.

is there any setting I need to adjust?

is this known or is this just once off error?

I'm the proud owner of a PVR350 based GBPVR system and the only major flaw in this otherwise excellent PVR box is the lack of the DVD playback through the 350. I know this topic has been raised before, and the response is always "can't be done". I just can't see why not. I know that DVD data is not exactly MPEG2 data, and that the PVR350's chip is an MPEG2 decoder but there must be some way round that.

As I understand it the DVD data is basically MPEG2 + DVD extra stuff (menus, multi-channel sound etc) + css region encoding, and the PVR can output both standard MPEG2 data (e.g. captured TV) and some sort of software overlay (e.g. GBPVR interface). We also have some external tools which will play DVDs to the standard output (i.e. decode DVD data fully to raw sound and video) and which can decode a DVD to disk as a standard MPEG2 file faster than real time.

This suggests two paths (in order of preference):

1.) DVD --> DVD to MPEG2 tool --> PVR350 MPEG 2 decode --> TV
2.) DVD --> External DVD decoder --> PVR350 as software overlay --> TV

I appreciate that both of these will require a little code work, but I'm happy to do that. It looks like it should just be a case of plugging together the existing tools, but I'm sure someone will explain why it's not as simple as I think.

Looking for a reliable HW monitoring app, pref freeware (but will probably pay), that isn't fancy.

I want one to just keep an eye on temps (MB, CPU, HD), and run a cmd (a powerdown bat I have) or shutdown if a threshold is reached. I have an always-on box, but there is no auto-shutdown for heat in bios.

I have HW Monitor now, but it turned back on a low-power option that was causing visual distortion, so I'm not trusting it anymore.

Not looking for something to cool, etc. Just want a fire marshall, basically.

My EPG is configured to update at 11AM EST --- no one would normally be using the TV at the time.

This morning the EPG update apparently ran at 11:00 EST and the system crashed about 11:10 to 11:12 or so. I'd guess this is about when the update would have ended. Now it will no longer boot to XP! When I got home this afternoon it was in a 'boot loop'; it boots, XP starts loading then it reboots, XP starts loading, it reboots, etc. It just keeps on doing this and will not even start in Safe Mode now. Running the boot log shows that the last thing it loads before crashing is MUP.SYS but I think other things are going on after this before the crash.

I'm fairly confident that it must be related to the EPG update as the system was just sitting idle --- no one was home at the time the problem started and the only thing that should have occurred at the time is the EPG update.

I'm reasonably confident I'm going to have to reinstall Windows XP and GB but I'm curious if anyone had ever seen this behavior before.
