RAM memory problems after GBPVR 918 and My series
Posted by: jasjol - 2005-03-28, 11:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I just updated to GBPVR version 0.91.8 and everything seemed fine - maybe was the PC a little slower.

Now I installed My series plugins (pictures, music, video) and added music and pictures to the harddisk.
I configured and all seemed fine - so I restarted the PC to start testing music etc.
but now the PC is extremely slow.

I look at resource manager and the CPU is around 10% used.
But only 4MB of 512MB RAM is available and I have a "RAMdiskfile" (sorry don't know what it's called - in Swedish "växlingsfil") of 1-1,5GB !

Does anyone have a clue what is going on - and what I should do?

Posted by: reven - 2005-03-28, 10:53 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

sub is it possible (i think you added this for codemonkey) to display a popup box anywhere in gbpvr at anytime? (eg when watch tv, or just browsing the menu). i want to start playing around with something and was hoping this was possible, if so can you give me the basic code to do this? if not any plans to support this?

cheers.

ps if its possible does the popup message get control of the keydown events?

  New Skin: Mountain Lake
Posted by: reboot - 2005-03-28, 10:11 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

This is a very transparent skin. Probably work well on a monitor, not too sure about larger TV's, as the biggest I have is 27".
Feedback welcome/encouraged.
p.s. I can't get the DVD portion to work with this skin, and haven't debugged the FM radio section, because my card doesn't support it/I don't have LAME installed.
Weather plugin included.

Xreord or in GBPVR - marking groups as children...
Posted by: jasjol - 2005-03-28, 09:15 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Would it be possible to mark groups/recordings with a tag such as "children" and add some easy feature to go to "children" whereunder the normal groups of today can be found?

I do not know if I explain it in a good way so I try another way too:

I would like to be able to group different kinds of recordings (and videos) before/after they are recorded so that I easy can go to "children", "movies", "series" etc

under the group "children" one would find different kinds of recordings that I wan't my kids to easily find. Under the group "series" I would find the groups "24", "LOST" etc.

it would be neat to have tagging as a possibility during season recording too.

maybe this is already possible?

Is TV Guide movie link to IMDB possible?
Posted by: dneprrider - 2005-03-28, 07:24 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

When looking through the TV guide and having to choose between various movies to watch/record how about being able to click on a movie listed and see it's IMBD review. The short description in the TV guide is usually somewhat lacking.

Is this possible to do now?

Red/Green Available Resource Bar on Guide
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-03-28, 06:52 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (6)

I'd like an always-visible small thin line on the TV Guide that is normally green, but shows red whenever there's a program scheduled.

Right now you have to search through all the channels to see if something else is being recorded. Either that, or you have to actually schedule the recording and THEN see if there's a conflict.

This bar would be similar to the one Outlook uses when scheduling meetings with multiple contacts.

  Problem playing recording
Posted by: phantastic - 2005-03-28, 06:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

If I have live preview checked everything works flawlessly... untill I watch a recorded program. Weird thing is I get the error only if I ff,rw, or pause the recording. When I exit I get the error: object reference....
Once I get this error I can no longer watch live tv. If I turn off live preview I still get the error, but I am able to watch live tv afterwards. Annoying though as channels take forever to change when the live preview button is unchecked. Hope to get a resolution that is not delete everything including the DB and reinstall.

  Restarting recording service after reboot
Posted by: soccerdad - 2005-03-28, 06:37 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

After I reboot my computer, my MVP just keeps searching for the server. If I restart the recording service in "programs" it soon finds the server and everything is OK. It did not used to be like this. I think it happened sometime around the .91 revision. I have it starting 1 MVP in Config. I tried 2 and it does the same thing. Under services, I set the MVPMedia and MVPSvc services set to start manually so I don't have to turn them off. Is this correct? Any thoughts?

I am using a 150mce card and XP home if that helps. This is a work around and I need to fix it before my mother-in-law stays at our house to watch the kids while we are on vacation. She will never get the system started again!

Thanks for the help. This program is great.

  Newbie guide?
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-03-28, 06:29 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Getting in to GB-PVR sure has put me in my place. I thought I was pretty well-versed in all things computer related, but I get a huge headache when I try to dive in to the nitty-gritty of some of the plugins.

Would it be possible for someone to write a guide or glossary for us newbies who think "xml" is simply a way Microsoft found to make "ini" files MORE confusing?

What's a schema? "Schematics" are supposed to take something complex and make it understandable by portraying it graphically. If the "Priority Recordings" schema was "simplified" my hats off to you!!Wink

Also, how can we make heads or tails of all the plugins that seem to do the same thing, or at least have overlapping functions: PriorityRecordings, external recording manager, rectracker, deleterecordings, guide2j, CDKScheduler, and XRecord. Not only are they overlapping, but some seem to depend on others. But I'm not sure. I haven't found one place that really explains it all. The manual tries, but leaves too many questions unanswered.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't see quotes in this forum? It makes people's config files pretty hard to read. "TEST"

Thanks!

Selecting FM Radio brings TV sound, not radio (WinTV-500)
Posted by: brightcynic - 2005-03-28, 06:02 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have a WinTV-500. I am having a variety of issues with GBPVR freezing here and there, though I have it on a dedicated disk.

Nevertheless, the big issue at the moment is that when I go to select an FM Radio station, instead of turning on the radio, it starts pumping in whatever tv channel I was last on. I noticed that this may not occur when in LIVE TV mode.

Thoughts?
