New recording source to execute external .EXE
Posted by: SWK - 2005-03-28, 05:37 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I would like to suggest an additional recording source which executes an external .EXE, in a similar manner to the .exe Changer plug-in.

The reason for this is to offer some support for cards, such as the non-PVR WinTV cards, DEC-2000-T, etc. which have a command line interface which allows recording of shows. I currently use this method with scheduled tasks on my old/live PVR PC.

Ideally GB-PVR would also pass along extra parameters, e.g.

{channel} Channel number
{channel_name}
{program_title}
{duration_mins} Length of program to record in minutes (WinTV2k.EXE expects minutes)
{duration_secs} Length of program to record in seconds (DVB-TV.EXE expects seconds)
{target_file} Complete path and filename
{target_path} Just the path to the file
{target_name} Just the name of the file

Any comments ?

Sean

Hauppauge Remote - Number Keys Not Working
Posted by: rocksteady - 2005-03-28, 05:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (25)

I'm having an issue with the Hauppauge 45 key remote control. All of the keys work on the remote, with GB-PVR, except the number keys. When I very first installed and used GB-PVR the number keys worked like a charm. When I would press 2 4 on the remote, the number 24 would show up in the lower left hand corner of the screen, and the channel would change. Now the number keys don't work AT ALL.

Does anyone have any suggestion or a fix to this???

Thanks in advance.

Is a 64 bit CPU compatible with GB-PVR?
Posted by: Staren - 2005-03-28, 04:06 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I just started researching everything for a PVR project a few weeks ago and came across GB-PVR from the guys over at byopvr.com. I was hoping you all would be kind enough to give this list a quick look to make sure I don't have any huge compatibility problems with GB-PVR or I'm not going with something that could have a better choice.

The two parts I'm concerned about are the video card and the CPU. Any known problems with the x300 or would I be better off just going with an AGP card like the 9600 or something along those lines?

The processor I have on the list should have more then enough power to do what I want it to, but are there any issues with using a 64 bit processor with GB-PVR? If it would be easier on me I could go back to the Athlon XP mobile that was my first choice and just change my motherboard option, but I haven't found anything on the forums to help make up my mind so I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance.

  New Skin, TheaterV1
Posted by: Torque - 2005-03-28, 04:05 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (12)

I've designed a skin for the basic install of GB-PVR plus a couple of the plugins (Weather, MyPictures).

Since I don't have a DVD drive in my HTPC, there wasn't a way for me to test any of DVD based functions. Maybe if someone likes my skin enough, they could help me out by applying my skin to the features I couldn't skin or don't use.

This skin is very readable on my 36" Sony Wega. Not sure if it'll be readable on anything much smaller... but there are other skins that offer high visibility if that's what you're after.

...now if I could figure out how to upload it here... I think the "attach files" mechanism is broke.

  Using the Number Pad
Posted by: DGK - 2005-03-28, 03:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I use GB-PVR to watch tv at my computer and I used to be able to use the keypad on the right side of the keyboard to change channels. In the last few versions I have not been able to do this, I can use the numbers at the very top of the keyboard though, but the keypad on the right is more convenient. Is there a setting or something that I can change to be able to use the keypad or is this something I will just have to live with?

  Show all of description text
Posted by: jasjol - 2005-03-28, 12:35 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (11)

In TV guide, Today the description only displays 255 characters, in my XML file some descriptions are longer and they get cut off.

Is it possible to extend the size of the field in the database and then display all text?

Very large log file with NetRadio on MVP
Posted by: HenkH - 2005-03-28, 10:55 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

Yesterday I listened to some Net Radio through the MediaMVP. I stopped the music by shutting the MVP off (with the remote control). A few hours later I put the MVP on again too see a recording. The display was still on the Net Radio screen, and I navigated away to the Video Library. From that moment on the log file filled up with these messages:

Code:
28-Mar-05 02:55:02.937 VERBOSE [24] Closing shoutcast stream 28-Mar-05 02:55:03.000 ERROR [24] Error processing shoutcast stream: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. 28-Mar-05 02:55:03.109 ERROR [24] at aq.g() 28-Mar-05 02:55:03.109 VERBOSE [24] Closing shoutcast stream 28-Mar-05 02:55:03.109 ERROR [24] Error processing shoutcast stream: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. 28-Mar-05 02:55:03.109 ERROR [24] at aq.g()

As you can see the error occurs several times within the same timestamp. I got about 8000 lines/second in the logfile and it won't be much of suprise to you that ultimately the logfile filled up all empty space on my C: drive (23 Gigabyte!).

My questions:
  1. Is Net Radio actually supported at the MediaMVP (or is it a no-go just like the panels on the main menu)
  2. If the answer to question 1a is 'Yes': do you agree this is bug and will it be fixed?
  3. Is there a way to limit the size of the log-file?

  Speakers
Posted by: Tulex - 2005-03-28, 05:50 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I'm wondering what all of you are doing for speakers. Are you using the pc speakers or channeling it thru the tv? Anyone using pc speakers that they think are as good as what comes in a decent tv(mine is a hitachi hd if that helps for comparison) Thanks.
