  Some Newbie questions
Posted by: JayRx1981 - 2005-03-28, 04:02 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I couldn't find the answers to this in any of the wiki pages, so I figured I'd give it a shot and ask here.

I recently purchased a WinTV PVR-USB2 and installed GBPVR (since I like it's interface better than the included Hauppauge software) and discovered that I can't watch one channel and record another using the device I purchased. So, since I still have a few bucks left, I figured I'd just get a second cheapo tuner card to watch live TV with while the first one is used to digitally record all my favorite shows. My questions are,
a) *can* the one I've got already do both and I'm just seriously missing something here, and
b) if not, do I have to use two of the exact same card with GBPVR (like you do with BeyondTV) to watch one while I record the other, or will any TV tuner do (if all I wanna do with the second is watch LiveTV and pause it when I need to).

Thanks.

MVP won't play recordings scheduled on MVP
Posted by: Gripe - 2005-03-28, 03:14 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

New member here so be gentle.

I've got GBPVR almost fully working on my MVP but I can't get it to playback recordings I've scheduled on the MVP. An short test recording I made via the PC front end plays back just fine on the MVP but I can't playback the full 30-minute and 1-hours shows I had scheduled on the MVP. The recoding service fires off the recording fine - the files are there. After pressing 'Play' the screen flashes to black for a moment then returns me to the list of 'Ready' recordings. Pressing play again on it or any other recording will reset the MVP.

Setup Details:
Athlon XP 2200 / XP Pro SP2
GBPVR ver .9108
Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 / driver ver. 2.2
Hauppauge MediaMVP / driver ver. 2.4 beta

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Can't record after trying new install
Posted by: psycho - 2005-03-28, 02:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Help. I tried to install the latest version. When I did, I got an error at the beginning of the install. First it said "the system cannot open the device or file specified" Then it said internal error 2755.110" after I clicked cancel install.

Now when I try to run my previous version, everything works fine except for the record feature, it says it is recording, but it really isn't. If I look under pending recordings it says "recording" if I have something scheduled, but the GB in the toolbar is still red and there is no file being recorded to the hard drive. HELP!!

Com Skip with ver .9 and greater
Posted by: Dubya - 2005-03-28, 01:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Does anyone have any problems with using comskip on the media mvp with ver .9 and greater. It appears to work on my computer fine but the info bar doesn't display the length of time of the show nor does it display the commerical breaks.

Also I find that with .918 when I try and watcha show through the tv guide as soon as the show starts it stops and I have to press play for it to start again.

Is anyone else finding these problems as well??

Dubya

  Hauppauge style skipping in recordings

I always liked the ability to navigate through videos using the number keys 1=10%, 2=20%, etc, that the MediaMVP supported and it would be great if it could be added to GBPVR.

Thanks!

  General/GBPVR WinXP/2000 video capture FAQ?
Posted by: mnemonic76 - 2005-03-28, 12:23 AM - Forum: Forum Issues & Documentation - Replies (7)

Well, this is my first post to any of the forums at GBPVR. I have been scouring the forums for nuggets of support and information... I am wondering if there is any faq or guide to all the hardware/software elements involved in the workings of GBPVR or even more generally Windows XP / Windows 2000 in general. More specifically, the OS settings, drivers, codecs, software, hardware etc. that go from the coax connector on the back of the capture card, through to the pc monitor, output jack on the card or even to the network server that might be running on the pc.

Please, if this is the incorrect forum, lemme know... I am guite knowledgeable about Windows operating systems from the point of view of standard usage, not the more demanding and specialized needs of a PVR or video server.

All comments are encouraged!

force EPG refresh in tv guide
Posted by: reven - 2005-03-27, 11:55 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

it would be nice if you could push a button in the tv guide (eg Go) and it will update the epg as normal, with a popup box displaying the status.

daemon tools you can write to?

I'm not interested in putting a writter on the PVR yet, but I have a CD/DVD burner on another machine. Is there a CD/DVD emulation program that will emulate a burner? If I could do that, I could snag the image and burn it later.

  Root element is missing
Posted by: dries - 2005-03-27, 09:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have some problem with XMLTV in GBPVR. I am using XMLTV on a linux system. I have a complete and update file that I browsed to in capture source-> XMLTV plugin settings. From the settings windows I push <Update EPG> and the channels are shown. After ordering the channels I press ok. Looking in GBPVR TVGuide I see an up to date list of programs.

In Livetv the information shown for some of the channels are ok, while for other channels the channelname is correct but the program information shown
is not.

Strange thing is that in first set-up the xmltv file is read correctly and it appears the program information is used, but if I do "Update EPG" from the tray-icon menu it says: error reading xml the root element is missing.

I have used standard XMLTV

Code:
tv_grab_nl --output ~dries/nl.xml

Am I doing something silly here or is there something that causes these 2 problems? I am a complete GB-PVR noob, just installed my Hauppauge PVR150 2 days ago.
