  Default quality on recording
Posted by: SFX Group - 2005-03-11, 01:14 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

On the setup page there is a section to set the default quality, its never stays on the PVR350 its always MEDIUM, i use a custom setting which means i ALWAYS have to change this before i record anything, is there a way to make sure its default is CUSTOM 1?

Many Thanks
Ashley

  Web recording
Posted by: SFX Group - 2005-03-11, 01:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Just installed the latest...

I'll list the questions simply

On the webpage when hitting record (on the TV schedule) first it comes up as "medium" quality how can you change the quality?

On the web page if you cancel a recording from the recording menu on the TV schedule page it still shows as recording.

Many Thanks
Ashley

Popup window title: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

  Short recordings
Posted by: MarkM2000 - 2005-03-10, 11:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello, first post here. Excellent programme very professional, thanks to everyone who contributed. I've gone from Mythtv to Media Portal to Showshifter and finally to here.

Anyway, I had hoped to post a solution to a problem I was having with short length recordings. I have narrowed down the problem, in my case, to noise on my DVB reception; turning lights etc on and off in the house caused a glitch in the picture and sometimes the picture to freeze and never recover when watching live TV or when recording the file size just stopped getting bigger.
I went out and bought a surge/spike protector that I used to protect the booster amplifier that is in the loft.
This helped but has not completely solved the problem.
I've tried re-making all the co-ax connections, better shielding of the Nova-T (909) card to the case and more direct earthing of the PC PSU power cable.
None of these things has solved my issue.
So I was wondering if this could be a driver issue where it is unable to recover from the glitch or a slight instability in GBPVR (no offence meant). The problem never happened when I was using Showshifter but that was using different application (obviously) and the older, non-BDA, drivers. Which makes it difficult for me to pin down the cause.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.

  GBPVR Freeze?
Posted by: knickerblogger - 2005-03-10, 11:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I just got home from a short vacation & find that everytime I try to record a show, the GBPVR interface hangs. Looking at the logs, gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.log is 22MB, and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe-1.log is 5MB.

When I reload GBPVR, the show is scheduled to be recorded, but subsequently setting any other shows to record freezes the APP at 0% CPU, 115MB mem. I haven't rebooted the system yet, because I've been recording around the clock. :-)

Just wondering if there is something that can be done, before trying rebooting.

  systray

dear sub,
perhaps i am not understanding what this small systray app is for...

i am using remote and tv-out only. no keyboard, no mouse, no vga.

i think that it would be a great improvement if the small app could listen for keystrokes on the remote and do some nice things:
-shutdown/restart pc
-stop/restart gbpvr client
-run epg update
etc...

Please... ^^

Nova T PCI or USB 2.0?
Posted by: gEd - 2005-03-10, 10:36 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Hi all

I have been using gb-pvr for a while now and I think it is the absolute business (superb work Sub - thanks).

My setup has now finally passed the wife test and the kids love coming home from school and watching one of the 100 odd cartoons stored on the pc!

My next move is to get a DVB-T tuner and my question is..

Will gb-pvr work with the Nova T USB or only with the PCI version? I would prefer to go usb as my Aria case is getting rather full. I do have a space PCI slot free next to the PVR 350 put that card pumps out so much heat, I would prefer not to put another card right next to it as my case has problems with airflow.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

  UK Top Up TV Support
Posted by: ArfurAnt - 2005-03-10, 10:17 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

According to the Hauppauge Forum it is possible to view Top Up TV channels using an external card reader and a genuine TUTV card.
This appears to require a TV card with BDA drivers and an application supporting the Multidec API.
Now that BDA support has been added please can you add Multidec API support to the 'wishlist'.

  bug! replay recording
Posted by: lif - 2005-03-10, 10:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

GBPVR current version (90).

Just tryed it many times and reproducing this bug has 100% possibility.

* Record some show.
* When the show is in the middle, start playback from "pending" of currently recording show.
* Now exit playback and wait (watch anything or just wait) when recording has ended and commited to db.
* Select this recording from "ready" menu and start playback.
* First frame is drawn and no dialogue box appears
* Now you could do anything but kill GBPVR task, as no keyboard or remote commands accepted. Just kill the task and restart it.
* After restart it and selecting the same recording, it displays dialogue and behaves normally

So, if you watch some frames from currently recording show, you can't watch it again unless you kill the task and restart gbpvr.
