I've been running the MSDE as my backend for a while now and things seem to be working pretty good. But I've noticed on occation that performance slows down and my CPU cycles from nearly zero to 100% utilization. I can see in the task list that the MSDE database is the one jumping up and down in CPU utilization so I put the profiler on it and I see GB-PVR is constantly issue a simple query against the database, over and over again...

SELECT * from PROGRAMME where oid = 193478

where the oid value changes each time.

Every now and then I see another statement sprinked in there:

SELECT * FROM RECORDING_SCHEDULE order by manual_start_time

What is GB-PVR up to?! Is this a normal process of GB-PVR or some hiccup between MSDE and GB-PVR?

Greetings, I just started researching the ability to setup a PVR using some equipment that I have laying around. GBPVR seems like a fantastic project!
I would like to know if the Happauge WinTV Go model 190 will work with GBPVR?
I have the software installed, however I seem to be having difficulty getting the software to recognize the card?
Are there alternate drivers available that I may be able to use?

i currently have an xcard, but was thinking of getting a nova-t card to use the record functions within gbpvr. what are people using as playback of recordings, ie can I use the xcard? Only have a 1Ghz mini-itx so would rather use a hardware decoder.

Seems simple, but if I sit down at 5:58 I'm looking at what's on at 6 oclock. It'd be nice if the guide would let me hit 'watch' maybe 1 or 2 minutes before the start of the show so I wouldn't have to back out of the guide and go back half an hour and select and watch the preceding show. Sure it's lazy, but we're all here about a program that makes it (much) easier to spend more time on the couch.

Per a request in the Wishlist forum, I've written a command-line utility called RecStatus.exe.

You run it from the command line (or from within a batch file) with the following options:
 time=xx  where xx is the number of MINUTES to look ahead for a pending program to be recorded;
 silent=yes [no]  this sets whether the utility suppresses all text output about the results.
                 EXAMPLE: RecStatus.exe time=10 silent=no

The utility returns the following exit codes, which can be processed by the batch file that calls it:
2 - there is a program currently recording;
1 - program is scheduled to start within the specified number of minutes (takes into account scheduled prepadding);
   0 - all clear - neither of the above is true;

Unless you run it in silent mode, RecStatus will report what program is currently being recorded, otherwise it will report the details of any pending recording that is scheduled to begin within the specified time frame.

Two Questions:
1) If I make a second capture source directly from my satellite receiver with a composite cable and set it up as using an external tuner do I delect "fixed channel externa tuner" or just "composit external tuner?"
2) How do I swtich from using one capture source to the other? My signal from the orignal source was lost when I wanted to go back to it, until I deleted the new capture source I had created.
I think I am missing something simple....like how many times to open and close the config program when making changes or selecting one source over another.

I've now made the calculator plugin mucho skinable. If you do a normal install you won't see much difference. Replace the skin.xml file with basic.xml to see a difference.

Whilst waiting for a BDA driver for my SkyStar 2 DVB-S card I am considering getting a FreeView card to use with GBPVR and the MVP.
I see that both the 300i and Nova-T are supported in the latest version of GBPVR but what are the pros and cons of these cards. An OEM version of the 300i is available without remote for under 50GBP, but will I be able to use this? There are also two versions of the Nova-T, the 909 and the 90002, which is better, and will the USB version be supported in a future release? This would be helpful as my Shuttle only has a single PCI slot currently occupied by the SkyStar 2.
If I get the Nova-T would I be able to use the remote for this on my MVP as I have the older remote with fewer buttons or are they a different design?

I am new to GBPVR so go easy on me. I have tried to get my DVD2Go USB(MPB680) and ATI 7500 cards to work with GBPVR using WDM drivers. Both give me an object not found error. I've tried the demo versions of Beyond TV and Sage TV and they work flawlessly with either. Is there a primer or doc site that describes what needs to be done to filters, settings, etc. to get these WDM drivers to work? Or has someone else had similar problems and fixed them? I searched the forums and found nothing specific. Thanks in advance.
