Hi all,

I'm planning on using PostProcessing.bat to call a command line PHP script in order to transcode certain shows for use on my smartphone (see this thread for background - http://tinyurl.com/3zz4w ). I've got a couple of questions relating to this:

1) I don't seem to have a file called postprocessing.bat on my machine. Presumably I can just create my own in the gbpvr directory?

2) Does the %1 variable in PostProcessing.bat contain the full path to the file or just the filename?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Since updating to latest and greatest Xrecord, I can't seem to find my videos anymore. I use the "XVideoPath" variable in the skin but nothing shows.

When selecting archive, it shows an empty spot where the path used to be...

I have just hooked up my MVP to a widescreen TV for the first time and i can't get GBPVR to show a full widescreen picture. It insists on cropping (centrecutting) the picture. Several times I have gone back to the original hauppauge software and set the aspect ratio (16X9). The Hauppauge software displays it correctly but when i go back to GBPVR it keeps centrecutting it (what the hauppauge software does when set to 4X3).

Should GBPVR be capable of this?

Vertical guides are added. I have fixed some bugs with the horizontal guide.

Since this is still a new plugin I would expect that there would be some bugs.

Please let me know if you find any bugs.

Hi - any advice for a newbie most welcome - I just posted on Hardware board but realised this might be the more appropriate one

I have scanned the site but have not found the answers - apologies if they have already been covered.

I am researching venturing into the GB-PVR world and am a bit daunted/worried I'll buy a load of kit and not be able to put it together\get it to work! (the most complex tech install I've done todate was a Wireless G card and router and that took a while to work! The key things i want to be able to do are:

- record, pause etc on my ntl digital tv pack (but on the TV)
- in the longer term prob add Freeview so I can watch one and record the other

What I have now:
- NTL digital pack with PACE decoder
- TV with Video S, normal coaxial, SCART etc input sockets
- ACER TravelMate 240 laptop 2.8GHz Celeron processor, Windows XP, 256MB RAM and Intel Extreme Graphics 2 card (no TV-out), 10Gig free harddisk space
- Linksys wireless-G card and WAG54G ADSL gateway

My plan is to use GB-PVR with:
- Hauppauge WinTV-USB2.0 - to get TV signal from NTL box to laptop
- Media MVP (possibly via the wireless-G gateway box) for output from laptop to TV
- In the longer term phase II add e.g. Hauppauge WinTV Nova USB digital for Freeview and USB-UIRT to control the NTL box

Total cost for the first phase will be around GBP100 and the same for phase II

My questions if anyone can help are:

1) Complexity\system?

- How much tech expertise will I need to get this to work - e.g. should I be less ambitious and go for Tivo which would have the same functionality as my phase I, have many fewer cables (never good for a laptop! but cost more!!
-Will my computer system be able to cope (good enough Graphics card, enough memory etc)?

2) right kit for TV signal input?

- will the WinTV-USB2.0 be ok or will I need the WinTV-PVR-USB2.0 (I'm not sure on the difference except around GBP50!?- details in links below:

- Are these the right ones for input (with stereo sound/good TV quality) from an NTL digital box or is there a better solution?

- Is there a better option than the Media MVP at GBP50? E.g. a PC to TV Converter at GBP35 (I assume GB-PVR would work with this):

- The advantage of the Media MVP is I assume that I can control the computer via the MVP remote to access music and photos too and may be able to contect it via the Linksys Wireless G. Any thoughts?

4) Incorporating Freeview

Using the latest version of GB-PVR with a Hauppaugu PVR-350 in th UK running Windows 2003 server.

The first problem i get is when i tune channels in using the analog aerial. I get the EG updates, I tell GB-PVR on which tuning channels the 5 terrestial channels are on (using the channel numbers from WinTV2000). All of the channels work apart from Channel Five.

When i go into LiveTV, I can surf through the channels, BBC1 (using hauppauge tuning channel 22) BBC2 (25) ITV1 (31) and Channel 4 (29) and it displays the correct channel and the programme information, but when i turn to Channel Five (hauppauge tuning ch 18) it just displays the previous channels picture but with channels 5's programme information.

It does this if i surf through upwards or downwards, so Channel Five always displays either BBC1 or Channel 4.

IT also does this if I schedule a recording on Channel 5, it will record the correct time slot, name it correctly, but it will record the channel that the tuner was last on.

This channel displays fine through both WinTV32 and WinTV2000.


I have also tried to use the Cable tuning function (as I am using the NTL cable feed for my UHF aerial, I found out I can use cable tuning and get the terrestial channels and a few others (paramount, TCM).

Now when i do this, no channels display at all, they just display static, though I am using the same channel tuning specs from Wintv2000 and in winTV the channels display perfectly.

Any ideas?

I have been using GBPVR for 3 months and I am very happy with it. The only problem I have is that I cannot record at 720x480. I have changed all of the Quality Profile Settings in GBPVR config to 720x480, but when I view the files I have recorded, they are still at 640x480. This would not be a problem for me except that this makes it take much longer to burn DVDs with the Ulead software.

I am using Windows XP, GBPVR 0.23.13
My capture card is a Hauppauge PVR-150 retail, NTSC

Has anyone had the same experience and know the solution?

Hello all - sorry for posting this here but I can't even get registered at Zap2It to use their forums. I go through the registration process but when it gets to submitting the form it gives me a 404 "Page can not be found" error and kicks me back to the start. It seems to have recorded my user name as it will not let me register as it the second time I tried, but it refuses to let me login either. Any suggestions?

*Update* I received an email from Zap2IT confirming my registration, but it does not accept it when I go to update my EPG source. So still no luck...
