i don´t know if this already possible by any means and only didn´t figure it out:
I would love to have the functionality of the actual MyVideos (thanks again reven! plugin that allows you to dowload movie poster and info from IMDB for ready recorded (and archived) movies in the TVGuide. So before recording something you could download this information. As far as I understand the MyVideos plugin uses titel information stored in mydatabase.xml to retrieve IMDB data. As the TVGuide information is also stored in an xml it should somehow be possible, to do the same here?
First, here are the specs of my setup:
P4 2.8 GHz
512 RAM
Hauppauge PVR-150 Capture Card
Radeon X300 128MB Video Card
Standard Defintion Sony WEGA 32" TV
DirecTV standard def. set top box
IR blaster
All S-Video connections
When I first got my system up and running, I noticed that while running GB-PVR, the resulting picture on my TV screen was a bit washed out and slightly fuzzy compared to the picture I get with the DirecTV box hooked straight up to the TV.
Then I read something about DScaler. Â I installed DScaler, played around with some of the brightness/contrast/etc. settings, and viewed the resulting picture on my TV (just a direct feed from the DirecTV box, through the computer, and to the TV -- without GB-PVR running.) Â The picture looked great.
I was hoping that once I installed DScaler, I would then see picture improvements while watching TV through GB-PVR. Â (Did it install codecs?) Â Unfortunately, even after installing DScaler, I still see the same fuzzy, washed-out picture through GB-PVR.
My question is: Is there a way to implement my DScaler settings so that GB-PVR can take advantage of them? Â I read something about a "DScaler overlay," but I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.
Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I've poked around in the config settings and in the forums for more information, but I can't seem to figure out whether or not this is possible.
Alternatively (if DScaler won't work), are there other apps/codecs I can install to tweak my display? Â For example, I also read something about ffdshow (and I see this option in the GB-PVR config settings), but I'm not sure how to go about implementing this.
I recently started developing a skin and have found GB-PVR more versatile than I initally thought, but there are some issues I'd very much love to see corrected.
1) I've tried to add either the CurrentTime object or the Clock panel to all pages but I seems they only display on their respective pages (CurrentTime on Guide and Clock on main menu). Am I doing something wrong or is it by design? Silly if it's the latter...
2) The Search Recordings page can't really be skinned at all, I'd like to atleast resize/move the different boxes and alter their appearance (change border width/color and corner radius ie, DrawRoundedRect).
3) Skinning of the Record-screen.
The Record and Cancel -buttons take their skinning info from the same place as the buttons on the side of the Program popup in the TV Guide. Creates all sorts of problems when using asymmetrical buttons, see the Street skin for an example. Wouldn't mind if the border which marks the active selection could be modified too.
4) Also would be nice if the screen that pops up when trying to play a DVD without a disc in the drive would be skinnable (and it also appears to be pop up under the "now recording" panel. Imho it should look more like the recording popup, ie solid background.
5) The spacings seem to be defined very differently in the different button elements...
Main Menu: spacing 4
TV Guide ProgrammePopupButtons: spacing -10
and I though there was a third as well, but I can't seem to find it. Anyways, the two above create the exact same effect, so it seems a little strange to use different spacings to actually create the same space...
6) Ability to skin the Net Radio buttons just like the Recordings buttons with SelectedItemBackground and ItemBackground.
Just my 2 (or 6) cents to make a great program even greater!
I'm a new user of this SW and I have some questions that I hope someone can answer!?
I have 2 cards installed on my HTPC (Hauppauge 350 and Technisat Airstar DVB-T card). Is there only support for the cards in the drop menu in the config (Capture Source)? Or is it possible to add another card like Technisat?
Just now I'm using Mythtv (linux) but I want to swap to a SW running under windows instead because I'm not a Linux specialist :).
Just now I share my channels with 2 other guys (cardsharing). Is there any support for cardsharing in GBPVR?
Here is a question that I've been pondering for a while. Most of the time, playback of recordings looks fine, but every so often I get this effect, where it looks like the colors need to be blended better (a bit hard to see, but circled for emphasis; ignore the clouds):
Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of this picture? Is using a higher bitrate the answer (I currently use the default of Low)? Would using a different decoder (this shot was taken with the NVIDIA DVD decoder, but I also notice the effect using DScaler 5) help? Or, failing that, is this something that FFDSHOW can clean up?
Dunno if it's feasable, but could someone investigate if xAP intergration is possible ?
I use Homeseer for my Home Automation (X10 and Z-wave devices) and recently discovered xAP. This is a protocol which can make different hardware devices and Home Automation platforms communicate with eachother.
Kinda nice to control Homeseer and my lighting from the GBPVR interface.
The last week or so, my card (pvr-350) has started doing something weird with the sound. All of a sudden it changes. I can best describe it as if the bass part of the sound disappears. It wil be gone long enough time for you to get used to it (3-4 minutes) and then come back again (and that's when you realize what you've been missing for the last few minutes ;-))
Any day now I will look into whether this is an issue with recording or playback, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. Anyone else experienced this?
I have a msi tv@nywhere master. I can't seem to get it to work. It uses a conextant 2388x or something tuner. Is it possible to use this card; and if not, will there be any support for it?
