  Did anyone try crossbarmedia?
Posted by: vladmen - 2005-03-02, 05:28 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Just got GB-PVR working on my computer and I really love it. Now the next thing is to get the signal to my TVs. I don't have network cables running in the house so getting MVP would require some efforts, but I came across this company ( http://www.crossbarmedia.com/ ) that claims to modulate signal from any source directly into coax wiring, that I already have in every room of my house. Am I missing something or that looks like the right solution?

  Windows Installer woes
Posted by: bb7 - 2005-03-02, 01:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I've been a very satisfied user for a few months.  I've been running 907c with much success using a PVR250 and the MVP.

Just today, I started having major problems.  Some but not all of the time, when I try to run one of the GBPVR executables (config.exe, or the gbpvr client), Windows starts an installation process ("Please wait while Windows configures GB-PVR&quotWink.  This is months after I installed GBPVR.

Windows asks for the location of the GBPVR msi ("The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable...&quotWink.  If I provide the correct location, Windows goes thru the "installation" and basically messes up my config.xml and other settings (e.g., for the Weather and DVDtoMPEG plugins).  Most everything reverts to the defaults.  I can go in and change everything back, but this whole process starts over whenever I reboot.

If I "cancel" the installation, I get the message "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product GB-PVR. Windows Installer cannot continue."  I can then go to the GBPVR root folder and rename "config.retained.xml" back to config.xml, but some of the plugin settings (Weather, DVDtoMPEG) revert back to defaults.  Also, the default stations for the NetRadio plugin show up again in the NetRadio folder.

The obvious question is "what did I change right before this started happening?"  Answer:  I installed the TheatreListings plugin and enabled GBPVR's web administration feature.  But undoing/changing those things doesn't seem to make any difference.

I've been poking around for hours, trying to read log files and figure out what's going on.  I've searched the forum and can't find mention of any similar problems.  I'm guessing that GBPVR is thinking it needs to update something, but I don't know why or what.  I noticed it was trying to update the database but erroring out because the columns it was trying to add were already there.

I'm out of ideas and really frustrated.  It's worked so well up until today.

Any ideas?  I can post/email log files if that would help -- just let me know which ones.
Thanks.

brian

  Are you sure!!!
Posted by: Darx-starz - 2005-03-02, 11:36 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Hi. A couple of times I have gone into the guide and opened the show I am recording and I have hit cancel instead of exit. This of course has cuased some major drama's in my household [Image: mad.gif]

Is it possible to change the wording to say Cancel this recording? Or even better a pop up that say's "are you sure?" (you want to cancel this recording and suffer the wrath of women kind)

Playback of this file type seems to work with software decoder mode only and not with xcard.

  MVP status in tray icon
Posted by: bluesxman - 2005-03-02, 10:43 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

Not sure how feasible this would be, but anyway...

I'd like the tray icon to also indicate if the MVP is in use. This would be very handy if I'm messing around with the config while the other half is viewing something - could save me some earache [Image: biggrin.gif]

  TV Walker Mini vs PVR150MCE
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2005-03-02, 09:18 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I have access (maybe) to a well priced PVR150MCE - is this in anyway a better / more reliable device than my TV Walker Mini? I see it's mpeg2 only, not mpeg4 - does it do better realtime Mpeg2 than the Go chipset devices?[Image: rock.gif]? I'm considering getting it anyway to add a second tuner, don't yet know how I'll split the aerial signal again reliably but I'm sure thats not a big issue....

Anyone got thoughts on if this would be a good purchase - preferably someone whos used both devices.

  Stuttering when starting playback
Posted by: MaBo - 2005-03-02, 08:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,
When I start playing a file, in particular one I've edited (using PVAstrumento and cuttermaran), the start of the playback is stuttery. After a few seconds everything is fine. When playing back in for instance media player classic there is no problem whatsoever, so the file must be OK.

Any clues? Is it a pvr350-thing?
Greetz,
MaBo

MPEG2 Issues with Lifeview TV Walker
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2005-03-02, 05:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Just when I get one thing going I find another drops off..... soon I'll get it ALL working and STOP playing!!!

I now have Excellent Live Preview mode TV!
I have Superb Divx MPEG4 Recording
I have a util that rips TV Listing from various websites for NZ in XMLTV format!

My current Problems are

a) I can't play a recording while its still recording using DIVX

b) I can play a recording while its still recording in MPEG2 format but I get no Audio and it doesn't always play at all.

c) I get no Audio at all with MPEG2 (playing it back in PowerDVD or anything) after its recorded.

The play while recording isn't a BIG issue as already GBPVR is proving FAR easier and more convenient than our VCR (Especially since I was always too lazy to label tapes properly so could never find what I'd taped!Wink but its the final nicety for those nights when you are 15 mins late home to watch your favorite show but you don't want to wait the extra 45 till its finished or the nights when the kids are slow getting to bed so you miss the first 5 mins!

Any tips where to start looking

While box is recording. Cant watch live tv
Posted by: manCREATEDgod - 2005-03-02, 05:32 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have only one PVR 350 in my box when im recording something and hit live tv, or something through the tv guide the screen goes black until i hit the home key at which point it states

"no capture-source was availaled to enable you to watch the requested channel" which make sense because its busy recording.

Is this the way its supposed to work? or should i still be able to watch live tv since its actively recording it? Is there anything i can do to improve this message/experience? I note that the tray icon is aware of when the recording service has captured the card does it exclusively lock the card?

Is there a way to modify the message displayed on screen or prevent it entirely by a check of the program so that if there is only one capture source and if the recording service has it active it displays a message saying there is an active recording and so only reocrded shows will be available? or a task which if the recording service is active and you hit live tv it switches you to recording automatically?

Thanks!
