Please excuse me if this posted to the wrong forum. I'm getting ready to build my first PVR using MediaMVP and GBPVR, so I can view recorded TV shows on my television. My PC on the back end will be using Win XP. I could use MCE, but I'm using an older machine and it looks like WinMCE has some pretty high system requirements (let me know if anyone thinks this is wrong). Here's my dilemma: I thought I'd use the PVR-150 , but the PVR-150MCE seems to be the same thing but a lot cheaper. From what I can tell it looks like you don't get some of the software with the MCE version, but with using GBPVR will I be missing anything I need?

I’m going to release a new version of Guide2J soon… This version will have the standard horizontal time-line view, as well as two vertical time-line views (descriptions in line with the programs title, and the description somewhere else on the screen only for the selected program).

As a relative new comer to plug-in development – I have a question.

I was thinking of having a settings.xml file as well as 3 skin files – one for each view. I’d imagine that each view the end user would want it to look different? I could put all of the skin information in one file (I’m doing it now for dev) however, this skin file is rather large and confusing.

Would this be a no-no in GBPVR plugin developlement?

Do we have any artistic people that would like to help out developing a logo for GB-PVR? Its never really had one, but I think it would be useful.

If we're lucky enough to get a few options, we'll make it a bit of a public vote fest.

I just received my new 45 button wintv remote and could not find the "full" and blank function button. How have others dealt with this. I guess I could reassign the * or # buttons to replace those. Just thought I would check with others and see if I was missing something.

So I have my GBPVR all setup on the PC and everything looks great ! . I decided to go the MVP route, so I have purchased one ( it's in the back of the car as a type ), but I have one question - do I need to install the Hauppauge software which accompanies the unit first , or will it just connect to the GBPVR and go ? Is there anything else I should do before trying to connect it up ??

Assuming I have tools like Diskkeeper, Cacheman, etc, and the comfort to make changes on the system, what suggestions to do people have for a good disk writing policy?

I have an ongoing problem where windows is just working to hard to write a file (making recording and timeshift work poorly). I brienfly had a startup where it ran like a dream, so I know it can be better.

Not looking for support. Just intetested in how other people approch it.

Just managed to install everything and got it all up and running but I have noticed one small issue. I have used the tv_grab_uk_bleb to get the listings for the 5 basic analogue channels in the UK, and updated the TV guide in GBPVR. When I am browsing the TV guide (say at 18:00) and move from BBC2 down to ITV1 the 'cursor' seems to select an ITV1 program from about 5am. Moving from ITV1 down to CH4 brings the 'cursor' back into view at around 18:00. If I then go back to the 5am ITV1 program and select it, it gives a start time of say 27/02/05 05:00 and an end time of 28/02/05 05:30. I have had a quick look at the XML files and can't see much difference between the channels so I am slightly confused. Any ideas as to what is causing this? It only seems to be on the one channel and only occurs when the listings change from one day to the next (around 04:30 - 05:00).

Two of the stations in my TV guide are showing the wrong times for when shows start/stop. These stations are TBS and Comedy Central. All other listings are correct.

The times are off by 3 hours. Looks like it's showing EST instead of PST listings for these 2 stations.

Is there anything I can do?

Ok let me tell you what I have a how I solved the problem with my multi-tuner setup. Your milage may vary but it may help someone who has the same setup.

I use a PVR350 and a PVR150 (Retail with 45 button remote and IR blaster)

The problem I had was that I had the “Failed to Initialize Remote Hardware" message when the card (PVR150) was initialised. If I disabled the card rebooted then the IR would work OK and then if I enabled the card all would work, IR, multi channel record the works.

Sub mentions that it could be important which slot the card goes into. I found that if I put the PVR350 into slot 2 and the PVR150 into slot 3 I could not get the multi channel record to work properly. When I swapped them over all was good. I could multi record but I got the “Failed to Initialize Remote Hardware" error from the IR.

This took a lot of fixing. An amazing amount of fixing!

Install the software, drivers as described.  However you do need to install pvr150_22_22292.exe after the driver update as pvr150_22_22292.exe installs hcwpnp32.dll which is a prerequisite dll for hcwsmd04.exe.

The method I used for doing all this was:

Remove or disable PVR350 in slot 3.
Run hcwclear and remove device from device manager.
Ensure that the PVR150 does not share an IRQ with anything else
Install the divers etc.

After installing IR32 application, restarting IR should not give any errors. If it does a step has been missed.

Once this is all done install and or enable the PVR350 and install the drivers. Make sure that this card does not share the same IRQ as the PVR150.

Setup GB-PVR and make sure that you can record and watch live TV at the same time and the remote works OK.
