  Question Regarding LiveTv Usage
Posted by: knickerblogger - 2005-02-28, 03:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

A quick question: Let's say the Knicks game I'd want to watch (shocking with my name I know) starts at 7:30pm and ends at 9:30. But I'd like to start watching it at 8:30 and skip all the commercials. I could do live tv, but it'd get boring to watch a blank screen for an hour. With so many shows recorded I'd rather view one of those for an hour, so my question is how do I do this?

It seems that when I leave the live tv screen, the recording stops. If I do it as a scheduled record it doesn't show up in the menu until completed. So those two seem to be out. Any suggestions or is this not possible?

Thanks

  new skin BlahBlue
Posted by: dimov - 2005-02-28, 01:56 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (20)

after learning from mistakes with my "street"-skin i thought i'd give it a new try...
i wanted a skin with a very strict layout grid, so it doesn't look chaotic and i wanted to do it with the colour blue, which is a b**** if you put transparency on it (it tends to go all violet...)

the skin also includes skinning for the following plugins:
MyPictures (v2.0.1.0), MyVideos (v2.1.3.0), MyMusic (v2.0.2.1), Weather (v2.21), Shutdown (v2.1)

i hope all works well...

  xcard - widescreen support
Posted by: daza67 - 2005-02-28, 11:39 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Any ideas on howto force 16:9 output mode using the xcard with GBPVR. The output form the xcard always seems to be 4:3 aspect. Software decoders work okay with 16:9 material so it seems the problem is related to the xcard settings.

BTW xcard is set to wide mode for xmedia player and via the config applet thingy.

  LCD-plugin
Posted by: arttext - 2005-02-28, 11:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I just bought an LCD set here:
http://www.htvision.com/ at a great price.

1. Did the hardware (parallell port, power connector), easy!
2. I installed the port driver
(http://www.driverlinx.com/DownLoad/DlPortIO.htm)
for these character LCD's (mine's 16*2).
3. Installed JalCDs
(http://www.jalcds.de)
4. Installed Janviet's plugin (both in jal (gbpvr.cfg) en gbpvr; LCDPlugin.dll to GBPVR plugin directory and UltraID3Lib.dll to GBPVR installation directory)

And I ended up with a nice blue square light but no characters.
Q1. In Janviets plugin package there' s a file "lcdplugin.cs". Where does that one go; it's not mentioned in the readme.
Q2. In GBPVR config the plugin doesn't show up in the plugin list, so i can't check it.
Q3. What did i do wrong?

Any suggestions, other solutions etc. etc. would be very much welcome

  Trying to understand device instances
Posted by: Darx-starz - 2005-02-28, 10:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Do Haupauge cards share the same device? Say pvr150, pvr250 and 350? How is the instance set? What about cards from the different manufacturers. Are these both set to #1

I have a PVR150 and a PVR350 setup and works like a champ (now). The 150 is set to #1 and the 350 is #2. The PVR150 is in slot 2 (pci) and the PVR350 is in slot 3. I suspect this make a difference. If I swap the instances around it does not record properly. Why is this? Should they be set to the same instance?

TV Walker Lite Live TV VERY Stuttered
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2005-02-28, 09:14 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I had a solution to an ongoing problem with Live TV preview where I was getting effectively 1 frame per second or less.

I was playing around in the Lifeview TV software and noticed the same symptom when I first opened or changed channel where it would stutter for the first few seconds then reset and display STEREO in OSD. I remembered a setting to do with Audio Auto detect Stereo/Mono so I changed this to Stereo and turned off Auto Detect and now Live TV works perfectly in GBPVR.

Hopefully this helps others!

Load avi or other files with external player?
Posted by: adamf - 2005-02-28, 06:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all,

First, great piece of software Sub!

Quick question. Is there a way to spawn an external player when playing files from the video library (or recorded files)?

I would like to use VLC (then I don't have to install any codecs) as an external player for any files I load up in the video library (avi or not).

Is there a way to just have avi files load with an external player?

Thanks.

  Building new PC adding PVR150
Posted by: march09 - 2005-02-28, 05:14 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Next month I'm building a new pc and I'm thinking of adding TV tuner card (WinTV PvR150),except I have a few issues.

GB-PVR home page doesn't show the 150 as a supported TV tuner card only 250/350.

Is WinTv 150 compatible with GB-PVR?

I have DirecTV and I'm using a Hughes DVR receiver model#SD DVR40. From what I've been reading while surfing the web I can't record/control via serial connection using DTVcon since my receiver doesn't support it. I can record via IR Blaster.

I Remember using IR B method 10-15 years ago when mini dishes first came out in conjunction with my vcr. It was terrible experience it was very unreliable method of recording.

Would some one w/ experience recording using IR B via Satellite, please explain how it works using a PVR and a third party recording guide application such as GBPVR, Beyond TV3, Sage TV?.... and is it reliable?

Thanks
RM

  help: noobie at this
Posted by: zaltech - 2005-02-28, 03:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I'm not sure what is the problem but here's my errors:

I was able to use it w/ no problems yesterday and then today when I tried to use the app, I had lots of vertical lines and don't know how to get rid of it.

Now I get this error when I click on liveTV
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Any suggestions for both of these problems?
