  Hauppauge 150 vs 250
Posted by: Hugh - 2005-02-06, 12:57 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

I plan on installing a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 (Model 990) in my new system. To record a second channel, what would y'all recommend:
Hauppauge 1042 Wintv-pvr 150 Mce
-- or
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250 (Model 980)

I don't need to record FM. Obviously the 150 is cheaper. Any advantages to the 250?

TIA

  How to transfer channels

Hi,
because upgrading to 0.9 does not work, is it possible to save the configuration for the videocapturecard (channels etc.) and reimport it into a clean install of gb-pvr?

What files have I to backup and restore?

Nxtvepg XML File and no program descriptions
Posted by: Neo01 - 2005-02-06, 08:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hello

I'm using the latest version of Nxtvepg 2.7.4 to get the XML program listings. According to the program description, the generated XML file is compatible with xmltv.dtd version 0.5.
As described in the title, with the resulting xml file I get only the names of the TV shows displayed, but no descriptions.

Does anybody got it working with this setup?

  VideoArchive request
Posted by: PeterM - 2005-02-06, 07:53 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

Jeff,
Thanks for the new version of VideoArchive (for 0.90). The plug-in is awesome - I really missed it for the few days since 0.908 came out...
One request though: I have already run out of space on my 300GB archive disk. Is there any chance to have several different disks specified for archiving, and the archive utility picking the one with most space?
Ore alternatively, would it be possible to have a utility to move recordings from the primary location to another disk, but retaining show descriptions etc.?
Thanks,
peter

  Recordings not all there
Posted by: Dustin Mustangs - 2005-02-06, 07:42 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Once again, bravo sub! This program just keeps getting better. One new prob for me tho:

Only some of the recordings I schedule show up in the pending screen after an upgrade to 0.90. If I go and try and schedule again (through search, again) it will give me a conflict with the original recording that isn't showing up in the pending screen. I can't figure out why some work and some don't.

I am also missing about half of my ready recordings. Again, I can't find a reason why they do or don't show up.

Really wierd. 0.90 was installed over the old version if it matters and I am using the default skin still (my fav!Wink.

Please help!

  v0.90 ideas
Posted by: Dustin Mustangs - 2005-02-06, 07:21 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I just tried the new .90 and like all the changes. Great work sub!

While trying it out I had a couple of ideas. First, the mini-guide and the new partial tv guide. I have a hard time reading it when there is other text of a similar size in that area of the screen, which I have come to notice is quite often. Might I suggest putting this at the top of the screen? Rarely do you find other text up there.

Also, about the screen where you pic your type, padding and quality while requesting a record. Given that you can set defaults for all those fields in congfig, allowing an up movement to record could allow verification on that page with only two button presses as apposed to five with having to go down to get there. This would save time on a screen that's used often.

Thanks again for all your work here!

  Webserver error in 0.9 version
Posted by: Cosworth - 2005-02-06, 07:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (23)

After a reboot I'm getting this in the gbpvrrecordingservice.exe-1.log:
ERROR [4] Error starting webserver: Could not load type bz from assembly GBPVRRecordingService,
Version=1.0.1800.30400, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null.

Worked fine last night before the reboot (and after the upgrade)

Any guess as to the nature of the problem?

  MVP via Xtreme-G?
Posted by: EwanG - 2005-02-06, 05:58 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (15)

Am looking to setup a MediaMVP for the downstairs TV to show stuff recorded upstairs with the system I'm building (PVR-350 if it matters).

Home network is using the D-Link Xtreme-G system which supports "up to" 108 mbps. I'm ordering a Wireless G bridge for the MediaMVP.

I assume this will be fast enough to work. But was wondering if anyone else could confirm (or not).

Thanks,
Ewan

Well You Guys Have Gone and Done It...
Posted by: EwanG - 2005-02-06, 05:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

After reading around here a while, I decided to take my share of the family tax refund and buy a Hauppauge PVR 350 Card and a MediaMVP. Should be arriving on the 9th according to Amazon.

The PVR 350 will be going into a 900 MhZ Athlon machine running WinXP SP2 and has 384 Megs of RAM. Is that going to be "good enough"? Will GB-PVR make use of the TV-Out of the 350, or will I need to hook up the ATI AIW Radeon's TV-Out to the local box (will be using the MediaMVP for the downstairs computer)?

Thanks in advance,
Ewan
