  Mass Manual Delete
Posted by: anedjf - 2005-01-11, 11:06 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

Don't know if this happens to anyone else or not, but I'm a big fan of "COPS", so I have season recordings set up (it is on frequently), which works great when I can keep up with it (believe it or not, some things DO take priority over COPS [Image: tounge.gif] ).

Anyway, I've got like 90 episodes that I know I'm never going to watch (400Gb is nice!Wink, and its a real pain to go through one by one and delete them.

It would be nice if I could just delete the files from my HDD and run some app that would compare my video directory and the MDB file, removing any entries that don't match.

Or, is there some other way currently available that can accomplish this?

Thanks,
Anedjf

  Some Newbie Questions
Posted by: Zitman - 2005-01-11, 09:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I am new to GBPVR and have just installed it on the following kit: XP1800+, 512Mb, PVR350, Radeon 8500, QWare 5.1 Soundcard

I have a couple of queries though!

1 - I am assuming I need to connect the TV to the PVR350 and not the Radeon card.

2 - If I do this can I still get my sound from the optical outs on the sound card or do I have to use the audio outs on the PVR350.

3 - I have a bunch of AVI files which show up in the Video section but when I try to play them I just get a black screen. This could be a crippler for me as I have literally hundreds of AVI's and converting them would be a non starter.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Thanks in advance

Zitman

  UpdateEPG.bat
Posted by: nutsaboutfilberts - 2005-01-11, 09:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I've just tried to find UpdateEPG.bat on my machine, and can't find it. ( Basically, I am trrying to automate the downloading of XMLTV data every evening)

Since I can't find it, I was wondering
a) Have I lost it somewhere, and need to reload GBPVR
or - and I suspect this is the more likely
b) I need to create it myself.

If it is the latter, can someone talk me through the basics of what I have to do.

Thanks

  2313 gets stuck
Posted by: ren - 2005-01-11, 08:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,

(Firstly, let me complement you, sub, on the finest pvr s/w on the web)

I installed (upgraded) GBPVR recently to ver 2313. I'm not sure which version I ran before but it worked like a dream. Ever since the upgrade, the software gets stuck every time I exit playback of a recording (and sometimes when opening a playback too). The only way to recover is to kill the process.

Any ideas what the problem is?
Are older versions available anywhere online (in the meantime)?

p.s. well done on grouping of recordings. great feature in 2313!!!

Thanks
ren

  "Error: Object Reference Not Set..."
Posted by: ejk - 2005-01-11, 07:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hey, folks. I just built a PVR (check my blog at BYOPVR.com if you're really curious), and I've been trying to find a skin for GB-PVR that works well both for me and has a high WAF.

I've downloaded a couple of skins from the "Downloads" page as well as the Documentation Wiki, but on some of them I'm getting the dreaded "Error: Object Reference Not Set to An instance of an object" message when I attempt to go into different modules. I'd really like to use the BlueTask skin, but I can't get to the TV Guide or some of the other modules without getting the error.

Everything is working great with the default skin, so is there any way I can figure out what the problem is and fix it myself? I am a software developer by trade, so I'm comfortable going in and changing configurations and code. I know I need to look in the error log, but is there a general rule to try to fix these problems?

  Hardwired Control of DirecTV Box
Posted by: Yenko - 2005-01-11, 05:34 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hey,

A while back I installed a serial cable to go between my PC and the low speed data input of my RCA DirectTV box. It greatly sped up channel turning while using Beyond TV. But I would much prefer using GBPVR. How can I use this hardwire approach?
Warning, I am new to all this so be genital.

Let's say a show has been scheduled for the whole season, how do you turn that off? I can cancel each one, but I want to stop the season...

  Mouse usurper
Posted by: wookie490 - 2005-01-11, 03:35 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

I use a Niveus PC remote for GB-PVR. I love that it will act as a universal remote and uses RF to send commands to the PC through the wall (PC sits in closet in other room). It's got this big trackpad to control the mouse which I thought would be great. But when running GB-PVR, it's a helluva lot easier to use the arrow keys than the mouse.

The Niveus remote is programmable for almost evey key except the mouse control buttons.....grumble....

Is it feasible to write a mouse usurper (plugin or standalone) that would capture mouse movements and then convert them to a keypress and send that keypress to GB-PVR?

I have some programming experience, but mostly in the embedded processor arena. I'm willing to take a crack at this though. I'm just hoping it doesn't involve rewriting drivers or anything.

  A Sleep Timer!?
Posted by: thewierdone2000 - 2005-01-11, 02:02 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Okay, well since people latly have been making the switch from CRT to LCD (which have a much shorter life span) I was thinking that it would be nice to have a sleep timer that would close the application (perhaps asking would you like to add more time first, and if no answer is givin it quits the app) Allowing for power save to kick in, and turn off the monitor. Thanks!
