  Remember channel on startup
Posted by: JKirk - 2005-01-01, 02:53 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Is there a specific reason that GB-PVR always starts at channel 2? Is there a way to have it start up on the last channel it was on? This seems to be a regular feature of most other PVRs but I can't seem to find it here.

I'm totally in love with SAGE-TV but it's freaking 79$!!!! GB-PVR is the closest thing I can find that resembles SAGE-TV. It seems close but still a ways to go...but for free... (or maybe a donation in the future [Image: smile.gif] ) it's pretty dang good! A little tweaking here and there and this may even beat the snot outta sage! [Image: smile.gif]

Tuner Assitant - how am I supposed to use it?
Posted by: joche - 2005-01-01, 01:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

The Tuner Assitant is great - I think...

But I'm a bit confused on how to use it. When I start the auto tune ia finds alot of channels, each time a channel is found I get a prompt telling me på watch the channel enough time so I can identify it. The problem is that there's no picture, no sound no nothing except from channelnumber and frequency, which not help me much.

GB-PVR seems to be the best HTPC software for my setup as it looks now, I've been struggeling with HTPC softwares since early this autumn and still haven't been able to show my wife the awsome thing that ruined our economy but will revolution our lifes. :-)

I live in Sweden and are using the UPC cable network <- If that's of any interest.

Happy new year everyone!

[UPDATE]
I started the GB-PVR live TV first
followed by the "Tuner Assistant" wich gave me some error, forcing me to leave my idea that the tuner assistant should be used together with the Live TV. However, starting the tuner assistand first and Live TV later works, so now I've setup all the channels.

Simulating DVD Chapter Markers on the MVP
Posted by: Jeff - 2004-12-31, 07:18 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

I have been thinking about ways to bring DVD chapter file functionality over to DVD files converted to MPEG format. Two ideas have come to mind so far. One is to turn the chapter markers into a comskip file. This would let you navigate forward through chapters (although it is two button presses to do so, which is a bit awkward) but it would not let you navigate backwards nor would it provide feedback as to what chapter you are on unless there is a function to display text on the OSD from a plug-in while a video is playing, which I'm not sure about. You would also not be able to jump to any chapter but would have to go through them sequentially.

The other idea I had was to add funcitonality to a plug-in to read a chapter file and to let the user select where they want to go in the video much like a standard DVD menu screen. To do this I would need a method to start playing a video from a particular time index (or frame index). I know that resume play can do this so the function must be there, but I don't see a public method to do this. And I would need to override the resume playback feature so that the user isn't probted if they want to resume when they select a new chapter start point. It would also be nice to be able to trap the menu key and have the video stop playing and pass control back to the plug-in in a way that would let the plug-in know that the user pressed menu rather than stop so that the plug-in could display the scene menu.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

  Installation Problem with v0.23.13
Posted by: vze233hh - 2004-12-31, 05:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Your PVR software is a huge improvement over the Hauppauge software that came with my PVR-350 and MediaMVP. Keep up the good work! That having been said...

In the process of udating from v0.23 to v0.23.13, the installation program gave me two error messages:

"Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Cabs.w1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

"Internal Error 2350."

The result is that the installation wizard has removed v0.23 and not installed v0.23.13. Please advise.

I have all my DVD's ripped and encoded in WMV format, does GBPVR play these types of files. I also encoded all my CD's in WMA format, will GBPVR play these to?

This is an Awsome program, great job Sub, and everyone else that put there time in on this program.

newbie problems with Live TV and DVD
Posted by: hutch - 2004-12-31, 03:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi,
First off I love this app - sooooooo much better than M$ MCE - well it would be if I could get it working [Image: smile.gif] . Im sure t must be my configuration as others seen to be having no probs. I have trawled the forums but still no joy.

First problem is Live TV. Using older Hauppauge drivers WinTV would work but GBPVR wouldn't, some nice chappy on forum suggested to someone else that they should upgrade the drivers and it fixed it for them so I have done the same. Now live TV does work but it takes over 50 seconds to display the picture, then after 45 seconds it returns me to the GBPVR menu. WinTV display pics immediately.

Second problem is the DVD player app. My DVD drive is my e:\ drive so I change this in config but if I try to select DVD from the GBPVR menu the app hangs and I have to end task it.

I have a 2Ghz P4 machine with PVR250 card
Hauppauge PVR PCI II driver v1.18.21.22266
Intel 82845G graphics driver v6.13.10.3510
Hitachi DVD RAM GF-2000 drive driver v5.1.2535.0

This is on Windows MCE with SP2 (with Media Centre Scheduler service and Media Centre Reciever service both stopped and set to manual).

Any help is appreciated.

  HD Card Support
Posted by: Dubya - 2004-12-31, 02:50 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Has any one tried to use GBPVR to record HDTV and if so what card are you using? If someone has gotten it to work I'm thinking about adding a new tuner card to the mix for the new TV I'm thinking about getting.

Thanks,

  PVR150MCE Doesn't pickup many channels
Posted by: chenko - 2004-12-31, 01:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

When doing an autoscan (In the hauppauge wintv program) it only picks up about 5-6 channels, and it misses a few of the main 5, using a freeview DVB box on this antenna works perfectly, just rewired the whole house with a new booster and the signal is perfect and freeview works in any room, yet the card only picks up a few...
