  Problem with GBPVR02313.msi
Posted by: kb0teo - 2004-12-31, 11:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I came across a bug in the newest GBPVR02313.msi after installing it over GBPVR0238.msi to fix the Zap2It problem. The GBPVR02313.msi worked fine but after the install a program that I use Net Snippets http://www.netsnippets.com/ was unable to launch its email plug-in to mail snippets (web page images) and would crash. I uninstalled GBPVR02313.msi and reinstalled GBPVR0238.msi same problem. After contacting and sending error messages to Net Snippets support staff that report that they have never seen that type of errors occurring and had no solution. (Can send copies of these emails if you wish).

I use a program called Drive Image 7 and do monthly backups of my bootdrive. And I restored the image several times and reinstlling XP 2nd edition numerous updates and a couple of new programs installed in the last month and traced the problem to GBPVR02313.msi.

I am using GBPVR0238.msi after a restore of my hard drive now and have used a work around found on the support forum to get my TV listing. And Net Snippets is working fine.

Thought I would report this as a possible fix in any future release. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!

  Enhanced program recording
Posted by: zaarain - 2004-12-31, 06:01 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Currently you can record a specific instance of an individual show, all instances of a show in a given timeslot (although this seems to bugged 23.13), or all instances on a given channel.

What I would like to do would be to record a given show, regardless of channel. It would only keep a user-selectable number of hours worth of the show. And it would automatically keep the cache of recorded shows updated using hueristics something like:

An epside I've never seen (as far as gbpvr knows anyway) always gets priority.
Otherwise, shows I haven't seen in a while would have a higher probability of making the cut.

The idea is that whenever I want to watch my favorite shows I've always got something waiting and it's either a new episode or one I haven't seen in a while.

  free icons for skins.
Posted by: reven - 2004-12-31, 05:32 AM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

im not sure how useful this will be for many users, but i have spent many many many hours trying to find good icons to use in plugins and skins, googling takes ages, then i found this

http://www.kde-look.org/

linux icons, dah. a lot of the are in png and are 128x128 resolution, so they look good, and the best part is, most of them are free (im pretty sure all  of them are, but i could be wrong).

i just thought if anyone had the same trouble ive had trying to find icons, this might help (and so mediaportal dont yell at you Tongue).

happy new years everyone.

Does it work with this card?
Posted by: Somebody - 2004-12-31, 03:57 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I'm considering buying this tuner card:

http://www.compusa.com/product....=SEARCH

The list shows it working with many Hauppage cards, but the WinTV Go is not listed. Can I use GB-PVR with it? If so, which option would I choose?

Thanks!

  How do I run 2 150's Together?
Posted by: Satnav4 - 2004-12-31, 02:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Help!

I had GBPVR working great with a Hauppauge 150 retail. So I decided to add a 150 mce. I have done a hcwclear.exe and a fresh install of drivers for both cards. It's not working. Both cards want the same 26xxx driver. I have the cards configured as Capture 1 and 3 (capture 2 is the s-video on the first card) with epg updated for both. When I try to run the radio on one I get an error warning the name of which I can't recall. I can't figure out how to record 2 programs at the same time.

1) Can both cards have the same driver?
2) How can I tell whether they are both set up correctly?
3) How can I program 2 recordings at the same time?
4) How can I run one card rather than another?
5) Should I see more than one tray icon if 2 recordings are underway?

As a test, I set the scheduler to record 2 programs at once. When I checked the tray icon for status, it said 1 and 2 were sleeping while the third was recording the first selected show. The third is the new mce. Sorry to pose so many questions.

Does anyone have any pointers?

S.

Conflicts - Shows that will NEVER be recorded...
Posted by: jazzmanjac - 2004-12-31, 02:19 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I think it would be great if GBPVR could tell you which shows will never get recorded.

Let's say you "Season Record" X show first. Then you "Season Record" Y show next or later. If both of those programs only have one time slot, Y will never get recorded. (I can see one exception; X gets preempted by a special program.)

Here's where this becomes useful.... If you "Season Record" a program -- be it X or Y -- by channel or time slot (as is the current configuration) AND either X or Y is available on another channel/time slot, then you could go back and choose another
channel/time slot. For example, X-Files is on at least four different channels in my area at varying times. If I choose the wrong channel/time slot, then it never gets recorded.

I guess we could take this further by either "Season Recording" a program by title on any channel, or suggest other channels/time slots for the program. The suggestions could be based on current "Season Recordings" as to not conflict with other programs.

Now that I think about it, one could "Season Record" a program on all possible channels manually. (Now we get into disk space usage problems by recording the same program several times over possibly.)

At any rate it would be nice to have this intelligence built in. Just a crazy thought....

GBPVR Web Admin/Enhanced Web Admin Fix
Posted by: KingArgyle - 2004-12-31, 01:54 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

For those that are having problems with the Web Admin or the Enhanced Web Admin giving errors in the TV guide when going into the next year. Please download the File that is attached to the following thread in the support forum:

http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...f=2;t=2900

This should work for both the standard GBPVR and the Enhanced Web Admin.

  Recording Service Failed to Communicate
Posted by: jcolvin - 2004-12-31, 12:33 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I just finished setting up the WinTV-PVR-USB2, MediaMVP and GBPVR. The pieces seem to be communicating with each other, and I can get the GBPVR menu to come up on my TV (and PC). But when I try to watch Live TV, I get an error message "failed to communicate with GB-PVR recording service." And Windows XP tries to debug the recording service program. Any suggestions? (Thank you!Wink
