Posted by: Fulir - 2004-12-27, 08:22 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Please anyone confirm that I am wrong!
Whatever quality recording setting I choose under setup capture source (i.e. custom1) I end up with cca 2GB per hour.

I must be doing someting wrong so if anyone is using this capture card and have settings work please advice - I don't need that great quality & big file 4 all shows !

  gbpvr media experience

ive created a skin (well i ported a skin from xbmc).  its a port of xbmc media experience, which use to come as the default skin with xbmc. i love this skin, and decided to port it over.  ive also included images from mediaportal (basically an image or two from all their skins).  ive added a readme.txt to the skin zip file, which contains this information, if any author/artist of the images wishes me to add more credit or remove the image, just say so and ill do so.  it also includes the UltraID3 dll, which you can find here: http://home.fuse.net/honnert/hundred/

also theres a panel to display the current playing music (ill release this plugin by itself, i just havent finished developing it so it translates better to different skins.)

you can download it here: gbpvr media experience

once again: if any artist/developer wishes me to remove the images i will do so. im sorry i havent asked your permission as i googled a lot of these images and cant remember where they came from.

  TV refresh problems and flicker
Posted by: tkb - 2004-12-27, 06:08 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

MY TV out quality looks nice, but has a slight flicker - similar to when your refresh on your monitor is set too low.  I can only barely tolerate watching it for extended periods.  Fast motion sequences are the worst.  I have a Radeon 7000 and am using composite out (I'm in the US)  I have played with numerous resolutions and refresh rates as well as the adjustements in the ATI control panel.  Anyone have any advice?  I can't seem to get it to  a tolerable level.  My TV is nothing fancy, so maybe that is the issue, but input looks very nice from my DVD player.  Maybe a scan converter would work better? I saw the post for a SCART cable, but I don't think that would work on a USA tv.

  disk activity
Posted by: RogerH - 2004-12-26, 11:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've been following GBPVR since last Sept. In October I talked myself into buying a pvr250mce. I was pleased with the progress of GBPVR, but also had the problems everyone else has had (not that this is bad!Wink Anyway... After the last release came out, My pvr "system" is working great! A dedicated system Celerion D 2.66 ghz, 512 mb ram, 100 mb HD, pvr-250,pvr-150 card and mediaMVP. Sub is GREAT! I'm actually using my PVR (and my family BIG PLUS) the way I had visuallized. I am very pleased with the software Sub has created! I do some programming for a living! I will be sending some money to Sub (Christmas present for me and a Christmas present for Sub!Wink. But NOW for my question. I remember reading somewhere in all of the messages here of turning off some logging. I see the disk light flashing once a second on my pc. I see no performance issues, but would like to give my hard drive a break if possible. If anyone can refresh my memory with a link, that would be great! [Image: smile.gif]

GBPVR PVR 350 and TVOUT issues
Posted by: ranger - 2004-12-26, 11:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I currently am running GBPVR with the Hauppauge PVR 350 and just displaying the app on a computer monitor for now. I have configured the channels etc and when I choose "Live TV" in GBPVR it just notes it is using the TVOUT and no TV is shown. I assume that it would show live TV like WinTV2000 does on my monitor though.

Once I get the S-video hooked up to my TV I hope the PVR 350's TVOUT works to that as well.

I have read a number of threads about issues with the PVR 350's TVOUT but I didn't find anything mentioned with the GBPVR about it not working. I ideally would like not to have to buy another video card with S-Video to support displaying to my TV.

Can anyone point me to some good info on the PVR 350 and GBPVR configuration specifically using the TVOUT on the PVR350's card? Thanks.

  Xrecord idea
Posted by: jorm - 2004-12-26, 09:01 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (5)

I added a new item when you open up the recording box callled find more. That would then launch fast find and populate it with the title of the recording that you are on.

I have this done today, however there are some things I do not like about this solution. So I have it precompiled out. It requires that a fastfind.dll be located in the gbpvr root directory. And second it would fail if not present.

Is this something worth having even with this depenency?

  2nd card for DVB Freeview
Posted by: bb_brock - 2004-12-26, 06:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi

I ve got a setup with a PVR-350 and I want to add the UK Freeview DVB service. Please can anyone recommend a 2nd card?

GB-PVR is running on a fairly old Athlon 1700 cpu plus Geoforce MX400 graphics card, upgraded with new RAM and HDD under MS Win-XP SR2. (currently suffering lockup problems when changing channel watching live TV)

New PVR Build: IR & External Tuner?
Posted by: Stephan - 2004-12-26, 09:00 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hey,

I'm pretty impressed with XMLTVNZ & GBPVR. What a xmas pressy!

I have been looking to build a machine based on the PVR350 given it has outputs that will work with my projector & TV/Video. ie. SVHS / Composite Video.

How/What do I use to control the signal from the SKY Decoder ? ie. channel changing

Do I need to get some extra kind of IR device ?

I understand that I get a remote with the PVR card but how does GBPVR control the decoder ?

Thanks, S.
