  stop a dvd?
Posted by: ievolve - 2004-12-23, 03:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

When I select a video from the videos plugin (either an .iso or a .vob, thats all i have tried) I cant seems to stop, pause, forward, rewind, or exit. All I can do is close gbpvr and restart it to stop watching the movie.

Am I missing something?

What capture settings does everyone use?
Posted by: tkb - 2004-12-23, 03:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

This isn't really a support question, but I was wondering what resolutions and bitrates most people record at.

I was just using medium, but that is 2gb per hour approx. I know cable isnt coming in at DVD quality, so does it make sense to waste HD space by recording at 720x480?

Has anyone found a perfect compromise of decent quality vs. space for a plain old TV?

BTW does anyone know what the resolution of normal Cable/Satellite TV is?

  where are we headed?
Posted by: ievolve - 2004-12-23, 03:34 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

First, wow! I got my mvp and have been playing around and must say I am very impressed! Now that I am officially a "user" I am taking more of an intrest of where sub is headed.

There is one item that really cripple the package,a dn I am wondering if it will be addressed. The live tv feature is truely unusable. I say either fix it or just get rid of it. I have a lag of around 5 seconds or more to change a channel and that simply wont fly. I thought it was jsut a limitation of the mvp interface but the pc version is crippled in much the same way.

I guess that snapstream beyond tv has spoiled me, if any of you have uised the most recent version of this package you will know what I mean.

I guess we are talking a free program here and I am not in anyway bashing what has been done. I fully plan on digging in on some plugin ideas I have and more than willing to help where I can.

Lets see where we can take this thing. [Image: smile.gif]

Nova-t and PVR 350 in the same computer???
Posted by: bgowland - 2004-12-23, 02:16 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I know that GB-PVR doesn't support DVB cards yet but I thought I'd ask this here as the Hauppauge forum hasn't been much help...

I have a custom built box with a PVR 350 running very nicely with GB-PVR for analogue TV.

I thought I'd see if I could get a Nova-t with the Hauppauge WinTV stuff running in parallel to record some Freeview channels over Christmas but the two of them really don't like each other (the cards, not GB-PVR).

Has anyone else got these two cards running together in the same box? If I disable the PVR 350 drivers I can get the Nova-t to work (sort of) but otherwise, the WinTV apps won't start.

I know the current Nova-t stuff is flakey but I managed to get things working by putting the card in my other PC so I know the card is OK.

Any advice gratefully received.

Regards,
Brian

How well does MVP work on 802.11b
Posted by: tkb - 2004-12-22, 09:32 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I have seen that people are using the MVP on wireless, but I was wondering if anyone is using it with 802.11b. 11mbps is cutting it pretty close for higher quality video streaming. I already have 802.11b equipment and would hate to have to replace it all to go A or g.

Also if you are using the MVP with wireless, post your config and experience, if you wouldn't mind (11b or not). I'd like to get a good idea of what is working well.

  Trouble installing 150PVR
Posted by: chenko - 2004-12-22, 06:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Got all the files from shspvr and installed them in the order suggested with restarts in between, but when its asking for a driver it cannot find it, I have even tried to manually point it to the extracted archives, no luck. I have also tried the drivers on hauppauge's site and it doesn't detect them either.

Am I missing something obvious? :/

set recordning via the web or mobile (cell) pone
Posted by: jasjol - 2004-12-22, 01:39 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

I must agree with you all - GBPVR is a good program - I am just starting up and I am still wondering which program to use - but GBPVR is my number one at present!

I must express my gratitude to SUB and the people making plugins so that nonprogrammers like me can use such a good product. And also the forum is very useful - I have actually spent a lot of hours last week to see what GBPVR and plugins can do - and I have still things to discover - just great!!

My wish:
In Sweden there is a possibility to have a webEPG where you can set recordings on the web from any computer - or from my mobile(cell)phone,  and the PC at home using WIN2000 and in the future BeyoundTV (GBPVR?) will poll (every 10 minutes - user configurable) the recording request and record the film.
This way I can start a recording even when on vacation.

I would really like to have this feature but the GBPVR has other good functions e.g. the wide range of functionality and also via the MediaMVP.

So I am trying to see how I can have both - e.g. using Win2000 polling from the webEPG and GBPVR for the rest including viewing recordings in GBPVR that was made by Win2000 somehow.

I do have trouble starting win2000 when GBPVR is running - and the possibility of conflicts when setting recordnings in different program is another problem.

is there a way to have GBPVR check on a website if a new recordings are set - and then fetch the parameters?

Hey Sub (or anyone else whos knows Tongue)...

I heard your here in NZ with me... I'm just wondering whether GB-PVR will show New Zealand TV listings in the EPG. I understand that this is determined by the XMLTV program but their website is very confusing (and technical). Some pages mention New Zealand (especially older ones) but the home page does not list New Zealand as one of the supported countries.

Would appreciate the help... Thanks.

Oh and 1 more thing... does GB-PVR work with (doesn't matter whether it's officially supported) the Leadtek Winfast TVUSB2 Deluxe Card?

Thanks
