  Wired/Wireless Wonderland
Posted by: Dubya - 2004-12-24, 01:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Alright guys and girls in a word here is the problem... wires... So the back of my computer has become a jungle of wires so I had the brilliant idea of trying to clean it up by going as wireless as possible so here is what I'm running.

1. I have coax coming out of the wall and right into my cable modem tucked into a corner.
2. Right on top of the cable modem is my linksys wireless (802.11b, ugh so wireless is turned off) router. So the coax into the cable modem and the cable modem into the router.
3. Now pluged into the router I have 3 things:
a.) Vonage Box
b.) Airport Express (802.11 g wireless router for anyone who doesn't know)
c.) Media MVP

Then on my computer I have the coax plugged into my Hauppage PVR-250 card and I have a 802.11 g wireless LAN card.

SO... after all that down to the problem...

On my Tv which is connected to the Media MVP it just flips back and forth between contacting DHCP server and Contacting MediaMVP BootServer.

My computer is connected to the internet so everything must be pulling a ip address but how come my computer can connect to the MediaMVP?

Thanks!

Dubya

p.s. Merry Christmas Everyone! Don't forget to throw some cash in for Sub!!!

  help with databases
Posted by: reven - 2004-12-24, 12:54 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

can anyone help me out with a database class. the only thing ive really done with databases in the past was one assignment for uni which was done in java a year ago. and i dont want to code it wrong so king argyle and others have to use access or whatever. so if anyone can write me a class (give you full credit etc) which i pass a video file name, and see if its located in the recordings database, and then returns (via out variables or property methods, or however you feel it would work best) the description, data recorded etc.

i want to add these to "my videos" but i have no idea how to.

i think the helper dll was going to have something like this in it, but i have no idea how far that has come.

thanks.
merry xmas and all that Tongue

now i am going to get some last minute shopping done (got birthday money so i can go and buy xmas presents now, i never get to spend that money on myself, birthdays at xmas suck! Tongue)

  netstream 2000 osd
Posted by: sash - 2004-12-23, 10:01 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Hi there
I just tried your program It looks nice, the osd work pretty good for the netstream 2000 card (sigma hardware decoder- simular to the xcard) but I am uncertian does it display cropped in the xard too or is this just because I am using the netstream..

details:
displays in 256 colour (probably limitation of the netstreams osd) but the bottom section of the background is cropped ( one can not adjust osd borders. it just displays black) and for certian plugins the lower sections are also chopped off.. I guessing from the behavour the osd mat is probably the wrong size.. it seems the width is correct just the height is incorrect.. by about 10 - 20 % . basically anything the same hieght and lower then the products Icon does not display..

I was wondering if there is anyway or adjust the osd mat to a differing sizes ( say through a master defintion ) or must one create there own basic theme for the netstream using it's specific demensions..

  MVP Problem
Posted by: dvdfuel - 2004-12-23, 09:17 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Anyone seen this?  I was using MVP along with Beyond TV and wanted to try GB-PVR because of it's capabilities.  I installed the MVP Beta upgrade, and downloaded the GB-PVR installer.  Although everything seems to install okay, when I turn on my MediaMVP, I only get the standard Haugpage splash screen and menu and can't access the GB-PVR program.  Any thoughts?  The card I'm using is a PVR-250.  I don't believe I have any compatibility issues.  I've tried re-installing everything a couple of times but no luck.  Shows up on my PC but not through MVP.

  Multiple Video Sources
Posted by: bcSmitty57 - 2004-12-23, 06:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have configured my Hauppauge TV Tuner as one source, and the SVideo input on the card as another.

I have a Video camera hooked up to the SVideo input on the card, but cannot figure out how to switch to the SVideo source in GB-PVR so I can watch the video from the camera.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Typhoon PVR Universal (aka Lifeview TV Walker)
Posted by: manutoky - 2004-12-23, 05:50 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi,

I just purchased a Typhoon PVR which seems to identical to the Lifeview TV Walker (Ultra, mini?). In GB-PVR's config dialog I can't set the video device to Typhoon. Can I use the Plextor entry or the Lifeview entry or the generic one? (Well, I tried and it didn't work, so ....).

Thanks for your help!

  Empty "Search Guide"
Posted by: eoren1 - 2004-12-23, 01:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hey,
Newbie here...I installed the GB-PVR last night and have been setting it up with the help of this site and the wiki. I have listings via Zap2It and the TV guide shows me at least a days worth (haven't forwarded beyond that yet). However, when I go to the Search Guide, it is blank. There are the letters on the far left side but all three boxes are empty. If I click on a letter, nothing happens. I checked the config options and re-synced the EPG but haven't been able to fix this. I'm using the latest version of GB-VR with a WinTV PVR 150 on Windows XP. Appreciate any help.

  ScheduleHelper/IScheduleHelper bug?
Posted by: KingArgyle - 2004-12-23, 07:35 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

Found something today when trying to cancel a recording using the IScheduleHelper interface. The problem is that the CancelScheduledRecording() method in IScheduleHelper doesn't actually cancel the recording but puts it into a Conflict status.

To actually cancel a recording, you have to use the SchedulerHelper class. However, to update a ScheduledRecording you need to use the IScheduleHelper. Everything else seems to work correctly. Spent about 2 hours tonight trying to figure out why I couldn't cancel a recording.

  Re-Encoding Recordings
Posted by: kverde - 2004-12-23, 07:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Any suggestions for a newb on how to take my records with me in a smaller footprint. Divx comes to mind, or Xvid or whatever. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My laptop harddrive is not too big and I don't need the files to be perfect quality anyway.

THanks!
