There may be an answer for this on the Forum, but I cannot find it and I've been trying really hard to solve it so I'll ask anyway. Hope that's ok.

I live in Norway and I've bought a Hauppage PVR-350 card to make a TV-PC. GB-PVR seems like a really nice programme and I'd really like to use the TV-out on the card.

I've tried two different motherboards and graphics cards and installed various versions of XP (with Service Pack 1a and with Service Pack 2, with ActiveX9c and ActiveX9b).

The whole PC hangs when changing channels. If I do it slowly (long delay between each change) I can typically change 10 channels before it happens, but it always happens. Sometimes only after changing one channel. I have to restart the PC.

I currently have the following configuration:
- ASUS CUWE-RM ACPI with the latest BIOS (not VIA chipset)
- Intel Celeron 634MHz (Yes, this is slow, but have tried with Athlon 1.3GHz also and same problem)
- Intel graphics card (Have also tried with NVidia card)
- Windows XP version 2002 with Service Pack 1 (Have also tried service pack 2)
- DirextX 9b (have also tried c)
- 512 MB Ram
- Hauppage PVR-350 with the pvr_1.18.21.22301_inf but the other software that's on Hauppage's main site (have also tried the files that came with the card and also the Hauppage support site files).

I have really looked into the IRQ issue and tried disabling ACPI so that I can set IRQ myself. With the current configuration the system says that the TV card shares the IRQ with a USB adapter and a network card, but the freeze has also happened when it doesn't. It doesn't say that there are conflicts, and the card works from the WinTV2000 application.

I've seen various comments that one can for example tweak the registry, but I haven't found with exactly what. Does anybody have some further clues for me?

And yes, I will donate, but need to get it working first.

Hi,

I've been trying to work this out for a while - well all of today. Initially was getting black and white picture with a diagonal line appearing across the screen on movement.

I reinstalled all my drivers etc. and now I'm getting a colour picture but its very jerky - especially at the begining and audio sync is out by about 5 seconds.

Picture and audio sync seems OK under WinTV2000.

Any ideas anyone? It's an Athlon 900Mhz using VIA chipsets.

Sorry folks, I'm having a couple of weeks off. You've probably been able to tell from my recent short responses or tone of my replies, that the continuous questions are wearing me down. The few dollars I get through donations just isn't worth the stress.

I think there is a bug relating to the audio queue on the MVP.
I have been using the MAP plugin and attempting to debug whats going on, but the behaviour seems to be core GBPVR not the plugin as I first thought.

Items are added to the queue with

PluginHelperFactory.getPluginHelper().AddAudioFileToQueue(songToPlay);

On the PC all queued files play if we return to the main menu or go to another plugin.

On the MVP if the plugin that adds the file to the queue remains active (ie we do not switch back to the main menu or to another plugin) then all the queued files will play. BUT if we switch to the main menu, once the currently playing file ends no further items from the queue are played.

As far as I can tell whatever detects the STOP from the MVP (which always occurs between files regardless of the active plugin) does not seem to be forcing the subsequent play for the next track. (We do not get the "About to start playback of" message).

Is this a bug or as designed? If a bug is there anything else I can do to help fix it (I am a developer and have started to dabble with the plugins code).

I searched around in the forum and collected some information on things dealing with scheduled recordings.

If I got it right

- GBPVR can run during a scheduled recording takes place
- if LiveTV is running it may be a bit strange what is displayed but the recording is OK
- if I want to switch i.e. from TCGuide to LiveTV if a recordingis running this is not possible. To see the show that is currently recorded I must go to the recorded shows and atch the pending one.

Is that all correct ?

The following questions remain unanswered
- can I use all other features of GBPVR like playing MP3, searching the TVGuide, scheduling recordings and so on ?
- am i asked if I want to exit GBPVR while a recording is running ? Does i only end GBPVR or also the service or asked differently : is the show recorded or is the recording interrupted if i end GBPVR ?
- is it enough to have the service active (the mall GB icon in the taskbar...) ?


I should know all this because of the wife-compliance-test

I recently installed 0.23.13 with the following HW:

Athlon 1GHz CPU
384MB PC133 memory
Gigabyte GA-7ZX
Apollo FX 5200 AGP w/ TV-out
PVR-250
160GB HD
Win 2K w/ latest SPs

Everything installed and started-up fine, but changing channels takes 5-10 seconds. Also, if I click any additional remote buttons during the change the app either locks-up for 30+ seconds or just hangs indefinitely.

Should this setup be able to run GB-PVR?

My plan is to try it on an Athlon 2500XP system over the weekend if necessary. If the 1GHz system is capable, I'll start troubleshooting it as-is.

Nintendo has released information about a memory card for the DS that is compatable with the GameBoy Advance to play MP3 music and MP4 video.

Think about a plugin that will convert videos from MPG2 to MPG4 and transfer then to the memory card for the DS or GBA along with selected music files. Protable media player for GBPVR.    

Call it "My Media Player", you can have the title Reven!

What do all of you think?

As in, they aren't showing up in the conflict list. I had a program not record this past monday due to a conflict that never showed up in the conflict list, and the same problem is going to happen next monday. I've manually solved the conflict myself for this coming monday, however, again, it did not show up in the conflict list. Anybody else seeing this problem, and know if there's a fix?

OK I have some issues that I'd like to note if somebody can help.

- Is there any way to kill the program without forcing CTRL-F4? (which is what I use as I call each module directly from Meedio) Like a direct exit (without going back to main menu).

- I use VMR9 (since overlay doesn't have transparencies) and sometimes I get "shuttering" in fast moving frames (feet of people walking etc.) which is sometimes fixed if I switch channels. What is this?

- Is there any info on the new strings that can be translated?

- I cannot use FM radio module. Is there any info I should provide for someone to help?

- The program many times drops it's log files ON MY DESKTOP (! and if I open the program folder it's also full of log files (it doesn't append them - it just adds MORE log files!!!... why? What can I do about this?

- Of course the HUGE DELAY (as posted in my other post) is the biggest issue.

When I switch channels I experience a huge (more than 5 seconds) delay. It's almost TOO boring trying to switch channels, or making the mistake to press up/down more than once (because as GBPVR buffers the keypresses, you may be facing 30 secongs of stupid channel switching). Definately negative for the "wife factor".

I always use timeshifting (as I was pause TV).

NO other PVR program I've used had this huge delay. GotTV, CTPVR, MeedioTV all switch fast (in fact MeedioTV switches as fast as a real TV), so it's not something with the hardware.

I've even noticed a change in behavior between my previous version (0227) and the current (02313). 0227 froze the second I pressed up/down and then (after a few seconds) switched to the other channel (so because of the freezing at least you knew you DID press the key) while 02313 continues playing the current channel and after a few seconds the actual switch takes place (this has the negative that you are not sure if the program got the key press but the positive that AT LEAST you view TV up to when the change happens).
