Hi All, this is my first post but i would like to thank all of you for the wealth of information that these forums provide.
I am using the Xrecord plugin an from what i can see in the skin code it used C:\video. i'm just not having any luck with this feature, i have created the video directory and have tried pointing it to another directory with no joy.
I'm using the LifeView Walker, and I know that there will be added support later on, but everyonce in a while I'll get a recording that doesn't have any audio, but has video. This always happens in Divx mode, but occassionally happens when using MPEG2.
Audio and Video always play fine when using the software that comes with the walker so I know it's working correctly.
I have a sample file that I could upload that shows the problem. Only thing is it's about 1.5 gig in size. Might take a while to send. It was recorded at medium quality, mpeg2 format. If need be I can try to send the logs for that time period. Just let me know which ones are needed.
This is a big release with a lot of changes, and includes many of the big ticket items that I've been putting off for months. The release has had quite a bit of testing, but given the amount of change - if you're after a super stable system, this may not be the release for you.

- Added support for the new Hauppauge cards, specifically the PVR150 and PVR500 (dual tuner).
- LiveTV support has been entirely redeveloped. You can now FF/Skip during LiveTV for PC/XCard/PVR350/MVP. In theory your can also RW, but this seems to only works sometimes - work in progress and all that...
- You can now press the "record" button on your remote whilst watching a program to record it. This records everything that GB-PVR has on the program, including the bits you've already watched. Please note, when you start a recording this way, it'll also stop when you leave live tv.
- You can now play a recording that is already in progress with out being kicked back to the menu half way through.
- Added SECAM support for GO7007SB based capture devices.
- Initial support for the LifeView TV Walker mini. This no longer required WinDVD Creator to be installed. One of the steps (IAMCrossbar->Route()) when starting live tv is very slow on this device, which makes it very slow to start livetv for the first time.
- Now includes support for MPEG2 variable bit rate (VBR) recordings.
- Now able to use the Globespan registry settings for recording volume etc.
- Manual recording has been totally redeveloped. You should recreate any manual recording you have previously set up.
- The "Play" key can now be used to skip to the next commercial skip point if video is already playing, and comskip file is available. You can still also use the "0" skip-forward/skip-back key combination from the last release.
- There is now an option to group "available" recordings.
- Conflict management screen now available (off Recordings screen) for managing conflicts between reoccuring recordings Â
- Made a few more skin features configurable. If you maintain a skin, see the separate post that lists the changes.
- You can now specify submenus to allow you to group functionality, instead of just one big list of buttons.
- You can now update existing pending recordings (padding, quality etc).
- Numerous other small tweaks and bug fixes.
- Now executing PostUpdateEPG.bat if it exists, after updating the EPG.
- Green can be used for page up in the tv guide. Blue for page down.
- Pressing Play in the tv guide on a show that is currently playing will start live tv. Â
- Added a couple of panels to the menu showing information (clock and pending recordings). They're disabled by default, but can be enabled easily in the "skin\blue\mainmenu\skin.xml" file.
- You can now launch any of the menu items directly from the command line using the "-direct" parameters. This replaces the old hard coded parameters (-livetv etc). As an example, GBPVR.EXE -direct "live tv".
- Added native support for the RedRat3. For IRDA support, you'll need to continue to use the .exe channel changer for now.
- Added option to config.xml to disable the OSD during video playback. This makes the MVP much much more responsive.
I just tested my system and GBPVR works fine when recording from Standby, but won't wake the computer from Hibernate. I set the computer to hibernate at 2:30am and it did not wake at 3:00am to update the EPG. (The 'wake machine' box was checked) I then tried to record a show at 11:00am from hibernate and it did not work either. Is there a BIOS / Windows / GBPVR setting that I need to change for this to work? In my AMI BIOS all of the power settings are disabled. In Windows, I have it set to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes, put the computer in standby after 45 minutes, turn off the hard drive after 1 hour, and hibernate after 2 hours. Hope you all can help!
Up till now I've been using software decoding for recordings and everything has worked as expected - I can playback my gbpvr recordings, divx, etc.
Today I switched to using my PVR-350's tv-out for recordings. This is working great (picture quality is way better than software decoder). But, when I playback divxs and switch to the tv-out on my gfx card I get a black screen and no audio?
Switch back to software only and everything is fine again.
Now i thought if you used the 350's tv-out it would only play mpeg2 and playing divx would go through the gfx card tv-out. Is this how its supposed to work or am I being incredibly stupid?
I'm using a NEC ND3500 DVD RW drive in my PVR. All works well except that it is too noisey when playing back DVDs. Â I can reduce the DVD read speed using Nero DriveSpeed V2.0. Â However when putting new DVD in the drive the speed resets to the original maximum speed. Â I want to be able to start DriveSpeed via a shortcut and use command line options to set the drive speed. This page http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=...speed.html provides some hints on command line options but this seems to cover an older version ie Drive speed for CD-Roms only. Â I would expect that there are more option to cover dvd drives.
Does any one have details of the command line options to use with this version of Nero DriveSpeed? Â TIA
I just bought an xcard, and it works pretty smoothly (i was surprised that so many things worked with the first attempt).
The only thing that does not work, is playing divx. On my tv i just get a black screen then, and gbpvr stops responding... there is a 1/2 second that i see the logo of windows media player on my screen though, so it is loading something.
And if i try to play the divx locally on my pc, it works just fine. With mediaplayer 9 that is.
I'm currently using an nVidia Fx5700LE video card and running tv off the tv-out. I've tweaked this thing up as well as I can but the picture quality is noticably poorer than the tv picture straight from the STB or the pc picture on a vga monitor.
Is this a limitation of nVidia tvout? Are ATi any better? I've heard the Matrox cards have great tvout quality but I want to use this PC for 3D games so the Matrox cards are kinda eliminated.
For those that are looking for a way to automate the conversion of MPG to Divx/Xvid formats, you might want to take a look at the following BTV 3.5 thread:
I think it could be fairly simple to setup something to automate this, especially if Sub has a way to run tasks after recording is finished. If nothing else a batch file that is run through the Task scheduler could easily scan the recording directories for any MPG and then add it to a list of files that are to be processed.
