Is there anyway to adjust GBPVR so that it doesn't record the data line that is transmitted with a tv show. The line I'm talking about is the one that shows up at the top of a show, that is usually hidden because of overscanning. However, with GBPVR it records this line as well.

I know is some PVRs there is the ability to specify the offset for recording. When I recompress the recorded shows to Xvid, AutoGK correctly crops the picture, but I'd rather not have it there to begin with.

Anyone give a little description on what post filters do and how to use them (with GBPVR)? Thanks

Error 1270. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A script required for this installer to complete could not be run. Contact your support personell or package vendor.


Has anyone come accross this before? I would be grateful for any help in resolving this.

shall there be a defined behaviour in case one scheduled recording interrupts another?
I wanted to record two shows which are immediately succeeding.
Show one was scheduled from 0:50 to 2:45,
show two was scheduled from 2:45 to 4:40.
I have set 1 minute pre-pad and 20 minutes post-pad.
I expected that the file for show one starts at 0:49 and is interrupted at 2:44 by the second show, thus containing about 1:55 hours of video. Actually, it contains only 1:31 hours of video and I lost the rest.
Of course, I can adapt the pre-pad and post-pad each time when I record succeeding shows, but it would be more comfortable if there is a defined behaviour for this situation.

Dear GBPVR,
I was hoping someone could help me with a problem that has just started happening when i try and schedule recordings. Although the program repoprts that it has recoded the whole show when i open the file only the start has recorded (typically ~15min). Don't think it is a problem with disk space as there is ~90 GB free on the drive.
Log file from a recent recording which stopped after 17 min attached.
Any help much appreciated

If I click on Live TV when it is recording I get an error message. Is it supposed to show me the show that it is recording, or is the error message what you're "supposed" to get? (I haven't got Live TV to work yet...but this error I only get when trying to watch live tv while it is recording)

I have been mostly watching recorded programs. I just noticed that I cannot fast forward/rewind Live TV. I can pause, though. Any ideas as to where I need to look?

I was planning on starting to organize and compress all of these shows I have recorded and ran into a thousand different choices, so I figured I would see what you guys are using.

What compression do you use? XVID, Divx?
What tool do you use to perform the compression?
What (if any) filters do you run on the MPEG files?
What is your final desired result? Archive, or media server?
If you do have a media center, what kind is it? XBMC, Tivo home media, TwonkyVision, MCE 2005, etc.?

My system is a pIII 933mhz, 128 mb ram (133mhz), 120 gb hd and i use a Hauppuge 350 for encoding and a xcard for decoding. My problem was that due to the graphics implementation of GBPVR my system lags when menushifting. I upgraded my pIII 733 to 933 recently and only a slight improvement was noticed.

Anyway this is what i found out:
1. Since my computer is dedicated for tv, video etc and I am using a hardware decoder I lowered my resoultion, on my built-in graphics card, to 800*600 and set the colors to 16-bit (you could go lower, 256 colors but for me it made no difference). This was a great improvement.
2. And now to the other big improvement. After my first "fix" GBPVR still lags when menushifting with the remote but not when using my keyboard, but I found that this was cuased by using direct access to the Hauppauge remote. When I turned on IR.EXE I now get almost instant menushifting.
3. I also noticed that when I have started IR.EXE, booting up GBPVR now only takes 4 seconds compared to 20 when I didn´t have IR.EXE running. I don´t know if this is general or if it´s just my system.

Hope this sheds some light for some of you and also I apologize if this has already been covered.
