I remember reading in a posting a while back that there is a way to get GB-PVR to run other tasks at the time that it updates the EPG. As I recall it looked for a particular batch file in the installation directory. Iâve tried searching the archives and I canât find the post that talks about this. Does someone know how to do this?
I have included my GML. I am using 3.2.9.
The GML logically seems ok but focus doesn't really work as expected.
- Ignore "GBPRV Commands" group.
- In "Who is focused?" multigroup I have THREE events, but this is just because of my experiments. I have tried with all three and combinations.
- GBPVR group is not ready (trying to figure out what is needed to change channels, not that I have tested the other keys...)
Sometimes the appropriate group is not enabled and sometimes a group remains enabled when I have in fact closed the program. What is wrong?
I have a Pace 1000 NTL box, can a red-eye serial be used directly with gbpvr, or would i have to get myself a UIRT and a red-eye IRDA convertor?
As far as i can tell, the red-eye serial plugs directly into the PC via serial port and provides the NTL IR codes directly, while if you want to use an UIRT you have to also use a red-eye convertor as the UIRT does not supply the correct codes for the NTL boxes.
Obviously just using the red-eye serial would be the better solution as (a) it only needs on thing buying. and (b) my PVR PC is going to be in a totally different room to the STB, and a serial cable can run this distance easilly
I am trying to translate your program to Greek (and then send you the language.xml and whatever else xml is needed) but I have these problems:
- I don't know all the text I can change, I have just added (succesfuly) 5-6 lines by trial-and-error... is there a complete listing somewhere?
- the program is not flexible with its button sizes (esp. length), is there a way to touch this?
- I am planning on using EPG (although I wouldn't do it at first), but with my first import I see Greek characters as gibberish... could this be a problem with GBPVR and font or an XML codepage problem?
- HOW can I delete channels? I added a new source, deleted the first one, but still in the channels tab (the last one) I see a mix of the old and new!
- how can I reorder them? (some of them have EPG and some have not, but I want a specific order)
- what are the favourite channels?
- now that I added the new source and deleted the first I CANNOT see TV! I just see snow... the source settings are correct (trust me)... is there any log I can send you to see what is happening?
- speaking of logs... the folder gets full of logs! can I keep things clean? or do I have to manualy find a way (a schedule or something) to delete them?
(sorry couldn't help it and sent the same as PM to the author)
This is the scenario: I have recorded a show as a one-time recording. Now I realize that this show runs with a new episode once in a while, not often enough to be on my EPG yet. But still would like to be able to season record shows with that name, perhaps from the recordings menu?
Ouch. Just deleted an episode my daughter's favourite show: "Noddy" Lucky for me I have recorded more episodes. Could have resulted in a minor world crisis otherwise =)
When I press a key on my remote, the GUI won't respond immediately, which I suppose is an issue with my slow computer =) So, in the recordings section, I pressed "down" twice, and then ok, in order to go to "exit". Obviously, one of the "down" presses didn't take, so I only got to "delete". Gone it is
I realize not everyone wants confirmation on deletion, perhaps an option in the config?
Whenever I record two shows that follow each other (I have only tried this when the shows are on the same channel), both get recorded, but only the last one gets processed by comskip. Is this a result of comskip failing when it runs two processes at once, or is is a bug in GBPVR starting comskip correctly?
I have set up all reference to point to gbpvr. I know nothing about writing code symbols charcters etc..How do i learn what to write and where it goes. I am a beginner but very willing to learn. Do i just get one of the source codes and replace the buttons text drawing etc with my own..

I thought of something thit might make a nice addition to this great software.
Adjustable recording options on a currently scheduled program and/or a reoccuring program. Currently, a program has to be deleted and rescheduled if a change has to be made. Changes like adjusting the pre/post padding, recording quality, or type of season pass. Maybe even add a priority feature to these options. That way if you wanted to over-ride a season pass show with a one time program it could be done without conflicts.
