I just installed gbpvr w/ PVR-250 and like everything about the program except the 3 second pause that it takes to change the channel in live tv. Essentially the screen freezes for three seconds when a new channel is selected and then the new channel starts playing. Is there any way to lessen this pause? Would using a different software decoder help?

I tried the trial versions of two other pvr programs - one had almost no latency and the other had about a three second delay. Both supported pausing live tv. So I know it is possible to have quick channel changes and still be able to pause live tv - just not sure whether or not gbpvr supports this.

I'm running an athlon 2600 at 2300 Mhz

My remote stopped working. It works occasionally now. I tried re-installing GBPVR, and it doesn't work still.

It seems to be working outside of GBPVR - I can press the Go button and I get the choice between WinTV2k and WinTV32. And I can press the Menu button and get the Task switcher in Windows.

Any ideas? Thanks...

I have a couple of questions some which are mentioned more often but i couldn't find a suitable solution.

What I want.
- Stutter free livetv / timeshifting
- ffwd/rew (or skip) in livetv / timeshifting.
As you can see, basically what everybody else wants.

This is what I can get gbpvr to do at the moment
1) - Not using Sbe
Perfect stutter free livetv / timeshift  (it really plays wonderfull, only some slight stuttering when the osd/mini guide is visible,  but that is no problem).
But no ffdw/rew (this is a known isue of course)

or:
2) - Using Sbe
Perfectly working ffwd/rew
But unfortunalty lots of micro stutters,  regardless of the decoders used, or how far i'm behind livetv.
The microstuttering occurs randomly but quite frequently (couple of stutters every minute).

What I tried
- Other harddisk partion (livetv/pause buffer is now on a completly empty udma drive)
- Different decoders and audio/video renderers.
- Different pvr cards (i have a 250 (ivac 15), 250 (ivac 16) and 350 available for testing.
- Installed pvr is a second pc,  same problem.

Questions
- Is there some sbe buffer that can be increased (i noticed an sbe buffer value in a myhtpc registry key,but couldn't find one for gbpvr).... or wouldn't that help anyway ?
- I read that the problem whith ffwd/rew without sbe is partially because of the standard mpeg splitter, wouldn't it be possible to select the mpeg splitter just like the decoders ? For example, the opensource mpeg splitter (by gabest), i have zoomplayer setup to use this splitter and it works perfectly,  with this you can ffwd up to 48x speed (it can also do this with files that are still being recorded).  
- But this also makes me wondering, am I correct in asuming that when not using SBE, gbpvr uses for the playback part the same directshow graph in livetv aswell as playback of recorded files ?
If so, wouldn't ffwd/rew be possible, at least for the ones not using the 350 hardware decoder ?

Considering the fact that ffwd/rew without sbe is probably more difficult, the most likely solution for me would be to solve the microstuttering whenn using sbe... does anybody have any other suggestions for this.

Notes
I know that the subject of ffwd/rew is covered in lost and lost of other topics, and i don't want to seem ungratefull since i think sub has done / is doing a great job.
But I still hope there a solution can be found for this, since gbpvr has so many great capabilities, but this problem is just driving me crazy.

Once buttons are drawn on the screen, is it possible to clear them and generate a new list of buttons based on a user action ? If so, how do you do it ? I have tried clearing the ScreenButtons ArrayList and then re-populating it... but, the original buttons remain on the screen. I am using VB.NET and the sample code from the Weather Plugin. My original buttons work fine, it is just updating the list of buttons that I am having problems with.

im setting up a pvr with pvr-250 and a 9600 gfx card. i was just wondering if anyone want ppl suggest for the type of mb/cpu? i was just going to get a 2.4 ghz celeron, but i read on a forum ppl where finding gb-pvr to run slow on a 2ghz pentium 4 (i think it was 4). from experience want do you recommend (ppl who are actually running gbpvr) ? all im going to use it for is a pvr, might extend it abit, to run dvd burner programs etc,(i might try make aplugin to do this via gbpvr) but nothing more, wont play games or anything (have xbox for that), just want to know what you think sempron or celeron (limited budget so cant get a p4)

I've got a (rather messy) implementation of my (so named) XGC Plugin to switch between TV-OUT and X-Card out when going to and from Live TV, using Event Notification. I have one major problem: There is no 'event' for exiting live tv and it needs some event to realise it has to switch back again afterwards (otherwise it only changes over when ENTERING live tv).
Is there any other way I can recognise going back to the menu? Are any 'events' raised in any other shape or form?

I installed GB-PVR and it seemed to work the first time it booted up. However I had to restart the system and now whenever I try live TV or use the guide I get the following error message

'Failed to communicate with the GBPVR recording service" the it goes on to suggest I reboot however rebooting does not solved the problem. I am using a Hauppauge USB2 Tuner card however I also have a Hauppague 250 installed the same machine but I did not confirgure the 250 device. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would love to be able to plug in my miniDV camera and capture it thru gbpvr, they are a dumb device so it shouldnt be too hard, i have no experience with stuff like this (still at uni) so i doubt i could pull it off, but if anyone thinks they might be able to program this i would love it

XMLTV for the UK is NOT working at the moment, as RadioTimes got a bit ars*y. It has been resolved and info can be found at:

tv_grab_uk_rt needs to be replaced with a new, fixed version.. however - Only the source tarball is available yet for the new version. So keep a look out, and be warned if you update your XMLTV file and it doesn't work!!

If you right click whilst in GB-PVR it comes up with 'test message'. Whilst this isn't actually a very important change I do think that the message box should be removed as its just a bit random... something that was put in during devolopment that you forgot to take out sub?
