  file naming
Posted by: maxpower - 2004-10-01, 08:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Is there a way to change that the files get named?  I am wondering if the name of the show and episode could be put into the file name.  This would make it a lot easier for organizing them and not getting duplicates.  For example:

currently I get a file name such as 100104_18001830.mpg or something but would like

100104_18001830_smallville_pilot.mpg or something like this.

or if the episode number is available, but I figure a title is always present.

  Audio Lag
Posted by: timdp - 2004-10-01, 08:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have a very noticable delay in audio via recordings or Live TV.  Is this a common problem that others see too, or can anyone suggest anything to look at.   I am using the PVR-350 for capture and output to the TV.  The delay is probably less than a sec but is noticable when watching.

  Problems with GB-PVR....
Posted by: joshley - 2004-10-01, 05:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Whenever I pause, if I press 'Stop' to get out of it or anything else, it goes back to the menu saying 'Please Wait - Initialising Channel' and then freezes. Also, I can't seem to get GB-PVR to update the EPG, I keep having this problem. I have an up-to-date XML file, but it's just stopped updating.
I'm using the PVR-350 on Windows XP.

  PVR Software Decision Help
Posted by: SoonerToucan - 2004-10-01, 05:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have been planning on building a network media center for a few months now. In my endless search for the perfect hardware and software, I have been disappointed. It seems every PVR software package is lacking one key feature or another. This is my first time at GB-PVR.com and I have to say the software looks promising.

My plan is to build my media network in client server architecture. Its intent is to watch/record live television, play ripped movies and listen to stored music. The server will house a number of HD drives and will encode TV through multiple Hauppauge 250 encoders hooked up to multiple cable boxes via. USB-UIRT. The setup will also be comprised of a number of Clients PCs, Media MVPs or a combination of the two.

I am listing the features that are important to me. I would greatly appreciate any information/feedback you have GB-PVRs support for these features. Also any commentary on GB-PVRs strengths and limitations compared to these other products.

- Support for Multiple encoders
- Support for recording shows from the client interface on to the server
- Software interface for the MVP
- EPG
- Smooth Tivo like FF/RW (haven't found this yet on any platform, not a deal breaker)
- XCard Support
- Dummy proof UI (Setup and configuration can be difficult, but a child needs to be able to understand how to work it)
- Decent interface for browsing DVDs, Music
- .Net Development (not a big deal, but as a .Net programmer It would be nice to play with it)
- Price isn't a concern (I will donate the cost of other retail products, if I choose free solution)
- Windows OS
- Intelligent recording scheduling (IE if one show is being recorded and another is scheduled the software will automatically start recording on another 250card.)

I realize as with most things, nothing is going to have everything I want. I am just looking for the best fit. This project is a big undertaking for me; I know how much work I have put into it. Knowing how much time I have put into research, I would like to recognize the extraordinary amount of time sub, you have put into this project. You seem to have done amazing work and it is appreciated by all.

Thank you Sincerely,
SoonerToucan

  Compact Flash
Posted by: web_maven - 2004-10-01, 04:39 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

How about a plug-in that could read a compact Flash drive (or any drive for that matter) and help you copy the files to either the server or local directory. Maybe even have the ability to burn a CDR by selecting different images.

The tricky part would but to use only the remote and easy.

File names and show titles or descriptions
Posted by: maxpower - 2004-10-01, 03:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I was hope that there was a way to put the title of the show for the name of the title instead of using the date and time. For example:

093004_18001900.mpg
and have
093004_18001830_simpsons_halloween_special.mpg

or something like that

Is this possible?

If you someone is trying to organize shows and not get duplicates it would be a whole lot easier if the show title or episode number or something was there.
