  How is the PVR 350 working out
Posted by: web_maven - 2004-09-30, 02:48 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I have been using the GBPVR without a capture card and I have been waiting because I saw the new driver was released and some people had positive responses.

So... Is the 350 worth getting or is the 250 the better choice?

  Web scheduling security
Posted by: ecorbin - 2004-09-30, 02:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Is it possible to disable the security built into the new web scheduling service? The machine I have this running on is behind a firewall at home and I have sufficient security before I can get to it, so I don't need the extra login. I like to leave open a window with the Guide or the Manage Recordings tab, and then just refresh that page hours later. When I do so, I have to login again, and it takes me to the Guide page with the current time, rather than where I was before. I have developed in ASP for years, but haven't looked at ASP.net at all. I attempted to comment out the following lines in the *.cs files, like so:

// check user is logged in
//if (Session["LoggedIn"] == null)
//{
// ...if not, send them back to the login page
// Response.Redirect("Login.aspx");
//}

That had no effect. I don't see any code in the .aspx files that redirects to the login page. How does this work? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

  Schedule Command Execution
Posted by: jorm - 2004-09-30, 01:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

A lot of the development things we have theater listings, comskip etc would be helpful to run every night. Is there a way that we can invoke this commands? When we download the new schedule?

I am willing to provide a class that does the parsing of an XML file that contains the commands and will execute them. If you are interested in including this in gbpvr.

I see this as useful for comskip to run on all of the recordings that do not have the commercial information every night.

  movieDBPlugin first release
Posted by: dottore - 2004-09-30, 11:02 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (51)

hi there,

i finally managed to complete the work on my movieDBPlugin. you can download it from here.

you need dvd-profiler from intervocative software. you can find it here.

make a list of your dvd's and export this list as xml-file to a folder of your choice.

edit the preferences in movieDBPlugin and enter the required paths.

how it works:
the plugin goes through your video-library and remembers every file (for now, even txt and jpg-files are displayed, i will change that). show all displays your hard-drive-movies and the movies listed in the dvd-profiler-xml. chosing an online movie leads you to the details page, where you can play the movie or (if it is a folder) display the files and then play the files.

you can also "add..." the movie to the dvd-profiler-xml. the details and movie-infos will then be added to the hard-drive-movie.

what doesn't work:
- movie list can contain non-movie-files.
- no sorting, no grouping
- only one folder-level (e.g. c:\....\...\movies and c:\....\...\movies\othermovie)
- no mouse support :-) <- will work soon

try it and report bugs and your wishes! thanks.

  tv grabber for nz
Posted by: reven - 2004-09-30, 07:27 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

ive written a program in C# to grab these channels:
tv1,tv2,tv3,c4,juice,triangle,prime and trackside

its only an alpha release at the moment, theres a couple of bugs, mostly with c4 and and tvnz.co.nz's server, you run it at the command prompt so can easily put it in schedule tasks to update your tv listings once a day.

if you find a bug let me know and ill fix it.

also if you want me to add any more tv channels (from nz) to this grabber, like the local tv stations (only know the ones in auckland) let me know and ill see what i can do

you can download it at here

  Questions about MVP?
Posted by: zooforce - 2004-09-30, 01:40 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

I'm thinking on getting one of these MVP units and was wondering a few questions.
Can you set up recording from it?
Is the tv out quality better than an ATI 9600?
can it look like GBpvr or that cheesy skin Hauppauge gives you?
is the remote able to operate farther than the 4ft given to the pvr250 remote?

Thanks in advance for the answers

  group menus (dvds etc)
Posted by: reven - 2004-09-30, 12:21 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

i was just looking at my main menu and noticed theres a lot of buttons, it would be cool if you could group things together like have a menu called DVD and in this you had

---------------    ---------------------------------------
|Get DVD Info  |   |                                                     |
|Play DVD       |   |                                                     |
|Copy DVD      |   |                   DVD info                       |
|  Play DVD     |   |   (like how media player does this        |
|  from HDD     |   |                                                     |
----------------  |                                                      |
                        -----------------------------------------

ok my ascii art needs work, but the basic idea menu on the side and dvds info in the middle, this could work for other things like music, play mp3s, play cds, rip cd, net radio etc

  zoom, autofix for widescreen
Posted by: reven - 2004-09-30, 12:07 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

i dont know if this is possible with the way sub does the live video, but there is alot of tv shows out there that have black bars for widescreen shows (those of us in places that dont have digital tv anyways) and i was hoping there was a way to stretch the image (for widescreen tvs just stretch it vertically leave the horizontal along) and for normal tvs zoom into the video to cut of the bars.

would this be possible? doesnt have to detect it or anything just you push a button on the remote and it zooms in, can be predefined zoom settings since most shows will probably be the same level of black bars or like 3 different zoom factors etc

  show names instead of numbers?
Posted by: yorrick - 2004-09-29, 10:46 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hi!

I know that there are three possible information sources and many country differences to deal with, but is there any possibility that the show names shown in the recordings schedule could be used instead of the date/ time stamp? It would be easier to spot repeats and sort the files after recording. I am sure it would reult in some loooong file names, but I find the numbers hard to read and figure out, particularly on the mvp.

Alternatively, if this is not an option for the file name, is it possible for it to be part of the initial greyed information area that plays right at the beginning of the show?

Thanks!
