Will there ever be a guide keyword search built into the web interface? If we had that I would never have to turn on the monitor to my PVR again

I have 800 channels in my TV Guide and it takes quite a while to scroll down to 650 to see what's on. Is there a technical reason that you can't just type the channel number in on the remote to jump to in the guide or is there just something wrong with the way my remote is set up?

Have anyone implemented an irremote.ini that supports character input from Hauppage remote?

Since you can set the control in "modes", and it have the alphabet printed on top of the numeric buttons, it sort of invites me to do this. Anyone here that have done this?

I've played around with the "modes" stuff in the irremote.ini, sending output to a notepad document, but I never got the hang of how to automatically return from a mode at the same time as a character is sent.

I was thinking of doing a MSN Messenger plugin.  Trying to keep it simple, I would display contact information (online/offline etc.), and require the use of a keyboard to enter a message in a conversation. I decided on MSN only rather than one of the multi-protocol clients for two reasons;  wanting to keep it simple, and I only use MSN Messenger .  I will use one of the existing libraries for the communication to MSN.  I am favoring dotMSN at the moment.  So everyone won't have to flock to the site to check it's license, here it is

If you have a better suggestion for a library to use, or other comments, this is the place!

Sub, would there be a way for me to:

1) On the plugins display page (i.e. where the conversation is happening), also show whatever is currently being played (live tv, dvd, whatever) in a small window on that display?

2) Put a message on the live tv screen /dvd playback or whatever when a contact came online?  (This would be configurable on/off).

3) Is there a way to kickoff this plugin when GBPVR starts so that it could log in to MSN and notify the user (see #2 above) when a contact came online?

I guess this is a combined bugreport/wishlist post. I caved in and bought an MVP, so this is all experienced using that.

- No feedback on which option is selected for &quot;resume&quot; or &quot;restart&quot; if that functionality is enabled in config. The default button stays outlined but the correct button is selected. (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- No OSD popping up after switching channels (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- The OSD is too transparent. Often impossible to read it (depending on what program is on in the background, obviously, for Windows there is no transparency so it's not an issue)

- Still freezes up quite easily while ff/rw during playback of recordings (I don't even know what keys do this in Windows so no idea if it's an MVP issue or not)

- (I assume this is a wishlist item, and possibly MVP specific) No ff/rw possible during live TV.

I'm using 0.20.5 btw.

Hi; I am new to this program, but I have been designing Web/Multimedia for many years now. I there a area where I can find the information on designing skins for GB-PVR?

Also is there any limitations for example I have a High Def TV can I design my images for 1920x1080, 1280x720 or is there are restrictions?

Does GBPVR Support Variable bit rates or is everything always constant bit rate?

The problem is that the files created with CBR seem to be much larger than they really need to be. I know I can always re-encode but I would prefer not to have to take two steps.

Any help would be appreciated

First my compliments for this great application!
Second: I'm impressed that sub keeps up with the enorm amount of messages in the support forum.

Sometimes my overview of reoccurring recordings was incomplete or empty. Finaly I discovered a way to reproduce it (v19 and v20):

main menu -&gt; recordings -&gt; ready -&gt; scroll to the last recording (on second page) in my case the 18th -&gt; reocurring: empty

'Pending' is at that point also empty.

(I'm using the mouse)

Workaround is easy:
back to main menu -&gt; recordings -&gt; reocurring

Finaly something for the wish list: is it possible to show a symbol at the top and the bottom of a view when the list continues outside the view.

can someone tell me how can i set the recording quality. my TV card type is Generic Conexant Blackbird. i understand that the Medium quality is automatically used when doing quick record and the LiveTV quality is used when watching live TV. I have changed these two in the settings to be at 2000 Kbps for video and 224 for audio. however, this seems to have no impact on the recordings. my recordings are always at 2.5GB/hour (which is the original setting of 5000Kbps for video i believe) which I think is way too high. i want to change this to abour 1.5GB/hr. i would appreciate if someone can tell me how i can do this. thanks.

I have a friend who runs Windows MCE as his PVR. I have been trying to get him to change to GBPVR. Up until now he has been happy with MCE so he didn't switch. But now he has a nice High Definition setup (110&quot; screen and kick ass surround sound, like watching TV in a movie theater!, and when I mentioned GBPVR again he said it would be worth it to him to change if GBPVR would work fully in HD mode. So my questions are:

1) Will GBPVR do HD?

2) If yes, what cards (capture and tv out) are recommended?

3) If no, is support planned?
