MediaMVP in the UK now 20 quid !
Posted by: autoplay - 2004-08-25, 08:16 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (15)

I bought a MVP (which works great with GBPVR) last week at PC World in Birmingham for UKP 50, decided to go back today for another, and they're now 19.99 !

Also seem to be available on-line for the same price.  Can't link to the precise item because the site uses session crap, but just enter MVP in the search box.

Cheers, AP.

PS: the first was a Rev D3A, not opened the other one yet.

  What quality can I expect?
Posted by: new2this - 2004-08-25, 08:10 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

I recently bought a projector, and after having used an ATI TV Wonder VE card i am not very inclined to use a PC to encode my TV signals again. The quality was horrible.

*Where can I see screenshots of the capture quality of the different (modern) cards?

*Is HW MPEG decoding as good as they say?

*why shouldn't I get an AIW from ATI and get a decent video card on the way. It retails for the same price as the WinTV PVR-250 (when adding the cost of the RF Remote)

Many thanks for your replies.

  Tuner question
Posted by: Irk - 2004-08-25, 07:57 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

After viewing various PVR solutions I've decided to go with GB-PVR for various reasons, one being what appears to be an active plug-in development community.

However, before I run over to the nearest computer hardware store I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what capture card to go with. I don't know enough about them to make an educated decision and would rather not buy a low end one now and kick myself later because it lacks features that my reduce the functionality of GB-PVR.

If it matters (in regards to hw vs sw decoding) I am running a P4 3ghz w/512 memory.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have this working with GBPVR? Does it work well?

They seem to offer 2 versions, a base model and one with an additional 56 KHz IR sensor. What's the purpose of this additional sensor (other than costing $5 [Image: smile.gif] )?

  MVP Freezeing
Posted by: joecru - 2004-08-25, 07:51 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi Sub,

I am experiencing some of the problems the other guys are having ,with the MVP Freezeing. At the moment I have two MVPs connected. When the problem occured my wife was watching Live TV on one,and I was testing various options on the other.I first started to watch a recording. Then went to the JukeBox and played a couple of songs. I then tryed to check the disk space and after a few seconds the MVP dropped of line ,and tryed to connect to the server. It won't connect so I restarted it again. This has happened a few times. Here is the error when it happened.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

  Wireless keyboard with MVP
Posted by: jorm - 2004-08-25, 05:13 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I have no idea if it is possible (frequency ranges and such) but I wanted to pitch it.

The MVP can be used to send IR remote signals across the network. Since there are some times where the keyboard allows you to more easily type in data using a IR keyboard might be useful.

Thoughts?

  Plugins For Beginners

Hi,
Guys is there any information on developing, your own plugins
for Beginners. I would be interested in trying to learn. If not I 'll leave it to the experts. What about a Diary/reminder/Calender/Contacts and phone numbers plugin.

How to remove channel from EPG ?
Posted by: agb1 - 2004-08-25, 11:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi All,
I was experimenting with xmltv as source for EPG - but now
got some channels listed that I would like to remove from listing.
Is there a way to do that ? Or the only way is to recreate the
recording source for GBPVR ?
Rgds,
Alex

Does anyone have thoughts about new plugins?
Posted by: Henrik - 2004-08-25, 10:46 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Hi
First of all. Thank you sub for a GREAT system. I've just installed it for the first time and I'm really impressed.

There are some features that I miss and I wonder if someone with more programming skills feel the same.

1. Possibility to mount SVCD and DVD images. Hopefully automatically by just playing the file in the video library. (Maybe by using Fantom CD or similar 3rd vendor application)

2. VFD Display plugin

3. Support for iMon RSC remote control from Ahanix

4. Possibility to add and remove NetRadio channels

5. Possibility to watch recording channel

6. Support for music CDConfused and CDDB

How does that sound?
