Don't know if this is possible but picture in picture so that can keep an eye on live tv whilst watching a recording or an other live feed ie webcam.

I've gone to the web site and looked at the USBIRT device. From what I understand, it can receive a signal as well as tranmit.

Therefore, from what I gather, one can (as an example):

1) Set the remote control option for GBPVR to "USBIRT"
2) Select channel 525 to record at time X,
3) Then GBPVR will send a signal, at time X, to the USBIRT device, which is located next to my cable box,
4) The channel on my cable box will then change to 525 via the USBIRT?

Is this correct? Do I need Girder or anything else?

Also, how do I set up GBPVR to use the Video In on my 250 card?

I'm asking these question just so I don't shell out over $50 and then take 10,000 days to figure it out how to make it work like I did with my Linux box. :-)

Hopefully just a little one here: would be nice to have the brief OSD "play" splash when you queue tracks in the music library with the yellow hauppauge key - just in case I'm not pointing the remote in the right direction it's nice to get a bit of visual feedback.

is there any way to run in windowed mode with the border off? I use parameters -pos:32,0,722,558, but I can see the border at top. I was able to do this with beyond tv using /mode windowed /startscreen home /width 755 /height 562 /xpos 25 /ypos 5 /border off. anything similar for gbpvr?

by the way, great program! EVERY version of beyondtv doesn't work properly - 3.3 up to the newest 3.5 beta (either no guide info after a couple weeks or svchost.exe maxes out the cpu with all 3.5 versions). GBPVR just plain works.

I have everything working in GB-PVR, except one feature.
After about an hour, the TV-Out of the 350 freezes, this is a soft freeze, e.g. pressing channel up or down, or home, corrects it.

I can get older versions working (Those that came before the ring fenced buffer) , but since that , I always get this soft freeze.

I am not convinced that this is a PVR-350 OSD issue, as I can now get Sage 2 (With everything going out the PVR 350 TV-OUT) working fine (I had it running for over a week with no problems).

But my preference would be to use GB-PVR, it is simpler to operate and works a lot better with XMLTV.

Does anyone else got this problem ?

I do not know, maybe I am paranoid, but looks like the picture quality of the GB-PVR LiveTV is noticebly less than actual LiveTV? Is this the case for everyone? Is this as good as HTPC can do?

The picture looks a 'little bit' blury.. hmmm.. maybe fuzzy... something like that... Even in slow scenes...let alone fast motion scenes..


1- I am using the codecs that came with the PVR250 card (InterVideo blah blah codec). Could this be my problem? Which codec you guys recommend and give GB-PVR best results? I heard that with SageTV the Sonic codec gives much better picture. I do not wanna pay many times for many codecs till I find which is best..

2- Will increasing the video rate in the LiveTV profile improve things noticebly? What are you guys gettings? Excelllent picture undistinquishable from actual LiveTV? Or is it a limitation of HTPC stuff?
What a good rate to use? 8000kbps?

3- I heard that GB-PVR does not do VBR (whatever THAT means.. lool).
Could this be the problem? Or maybe VBR is not a video thing?


If I did not find my self convinced about the picture quality of HTPC, I will only use it then to record shows offline (not Live), and use actual LiveTV for my daily viewing (hence, it is gonna be kinda like a VCR, no timeshifting ...etc.).

By the way: I am using a Radeon 7500 PCI. Is this limiting me in picture quality? I highly doubt that, since I am only watching stuff at 640x480 resolution.

What do you guys think?

I have not been able to locate a search function on this board.

When I try to Install on Windows XP (all patches, SP1, NOT SP2), I get an error message:

"Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup"

Net v 1.1 is installed.

Any ideas or pointers or links?

I have looked through alot of the post here trying to find the answer to my question and I have not seen it, so I apologize if I have overlooked it.

Is it possible after pausing live TV to rewind/fast forward via the hauppauge remote (350)... All that I seem to be able to do is pause it, then start it back up (play).
