I learned that GB-PVR uses a set of predefined tables to show live TV. But i live in the netherlands and the frequencies differ from the west-european standards. I also learned that you can manually enter them in the registery. But can someone tell me where and how?
Hi sub,
Well v 20 is working along nicely. Installation was a charm now it's not needed to redo the settings anymore. Many many improvements, of which the basic touchscreen support is one of my favorites. Thanks sub!
But you know me by now. I did some testing and still found several smal thingies (in random order):
-navigation of TV guide: click the arrow moves one program/station. Instead one page would be nicer. However if you implement the scrollbars, this issue is obsolete.
-make navigation arrow in main menu clickable (when there are more items than fit on one page) (for touchscreen/mouse users)
-navigation buttons/scrollbar also in other modules (pictures, search tv guide, Â etc)
-navigation buttons may be a little bigger.
-jukebox plugin: error "The path contains illegal characters" but where to enter the path? Possibly conflict between newer gbpvr version and old jukebox version (v.5).
-when selecting an FM radio station: error "No tuner was available to enable you to record the requested station". Solved after selecting pvr350 in the config app/capture source tab. Strange that all settings are retained on upgrading except for the card type.
-It appears the last seconds of a file are not played (also occured in a few of the first releases)
-I still think the recording icon should be red, idle green.
-in video playback "pause" pauses and both "pause" and "play" resume playing, in music playback "pause" pauses, only "play" resumes.
-pressing full-button gives a beep
-gbpvr starts non-windowed, full-screen: there is still space above the window and the taskbar is on top of gbpvr. Pressing full twice makes gbpvr properly full screen and hides the taskbar.
-With language file: main menu texts are not translated. Not in my version nor in dk version.
I noticed that GBPVR creates a directory name of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for a program that is being recorded, but the actual file name ends up with the spaces removed of "TheOprahWinfreyShow_2004_12_08.mpg".
Any reason why it removes spaces in the name? I ask because my wife has taken to making jokes about some of the names that are appearing - i.e. "TheCompleteandUtterHistoryofEverything" seems rather appropriate without spaces!!
Anyone using GB-PVR and the MediaMVP over a wireless bridge? Since I started using GB-PVR I have been looking at getting an MVP just because it looks cool, but my wife has insisted "NO MORE WIRES". I was thinking of combining the MVP and GB-PVR with a bridge, but would 802.11b be enough, or do I have to spring for the 802.11g hardware?
Has anybody got gbpvr working with IR channel changing against a New Zealand SkyTV digital decoder box? If so, which brand decoder was it (Pace, Zenith, Motorola)?
My card works great, except for I've got one channel (channel 2, CBS in Los Angeles at 54 MHz) that has really bad horizontal lines. Â Unfortunately, the sole purpose of setting up a PVR for me was to record episodes of CSI. Â
This happens on any PVR software I try (GBPVR, Hauppauge's WinTV2000, and BeyondTV when I tried that joint out a few weeks ago). Â Hauppauge tech support says try a new coax cable (I did, no change) or a signal booster (haven't tried yet). Â Are horizontal lines indicative of a weak signal?
My cable connection is as follows:
* Cable modem vs. TV on the first splitter
* TV is split - first goes to digital cable box, second goes to PVR
* Cable provider is Comcast (I'm on their digital starter package)
So technically I'm only pulling in analog cable and the PVR is receiving certain stations only (the public stations like CBS, NBC, and FOX), which is fine with me. Â I might get an IR blaster and just use the PVR to record from the cable box, but I'd like to watch TV and record a different channel at the same time.
System is WinTV PVR-250 on an Athlon 2200+, 1 gig RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.
I think i have everything pretty much sorted as i want and so these are merely refinements i could do with some advice on:
1. I tend to record a lot of movies which i convert to DVD using Ulead Movie factory (good software but can anyone suggest better?) the problem is 'medium' quality tends to set the size of a 90 min movie at about 5.5GB and 'low' at only 2.5GB. Is there any way for me to tweak this so i can get a setting somewhere in between?
2. Perhaps unrelated but i would like to control a few basic apps from windows ie Winamp (to use all my playlists) and DVD shrink etc. i only intend to have 4 icons on the desktop all maximised to be viewable on my TV but wish i could find software that enables me to use my Hauppauge PVR350 rmote with windows? uIRC does not seem to support the PVR350 remote - is it just me or has anyone got it working in a similair way??
Like i say general queries but any suggestions welcome, cheers
