Posted by: maxpower - 2004-08-21, 10:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I this this error message coming up. "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

It comes up when I try to view my pending shows.

It also happened right after I tried to manually record a show so that I could only record the first half.

How do I fix this? Is there a file where all that data is stored that I can just delete that entry that is causing all this trouble?

i have an HP zd7000 notebook and I was wondering if the emuzed Bali external USB PVR will work with gbpvr? i have MCE but the dvr-ms format is inconvenient. and i was also wondering if gbpvr will get more out of the tuner than MCE proprietary software?

  Live TV freezes GBPVR
Posted by: ricecrazy - 2004-08-21, 08:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hey sub,

Noticed this today - whenever I select Live TV, GBPVR freezes up.  I was running .19, which oddly enough, was working a few days ago.  I tried upgrading to .20 and it still does the same thing.  Also tried reinstalling the hardware card's drivers.

Any ideas?  Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 on an Athlon 2200+ XP, 1 gig RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro.  I'm running Windows XP Home (patched up to but not including SP2), and also running Norton AV 2003 and Intervideo WinDVD 5 if that makes a difference.

Edit: Pretty much the only configuration changes I've made over the past week or so was installing Doom 3, Sony Vegas, and DVDShrink.

Problems with GB-PVR in Sweden please help
Posted by: Gandalf - 2004-08-21, 08:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello all!

Thanx for a nice software...i have some questions thou:

1. Why is it so hard for me to have the channels right tuned?
ive read the post in this forum tried freqcopy. Finally i
installed SageTV to have correct channel numbers and
entered these in GB-PVR settings. Now theyre working
but one channel (MTV) doesnt want to work at all.
When watching LiveTV an changing to MTV i only se
   the channel i watched before.

2. Is that wave distortion on my PVR recordings normal
(45 degree angle wave distortions in some part of
recorded movies) I dont get any destortions when
    recordning with WinTV.

3. To change a cannel takes much more time for me with
   GB-PVR than with winTV why?

4. Is there any filter to improve tv quality when watching on
   computer screen (1280x1024 85Hz)?

5. Is it possible to record with GB-PVR with computer
turned off. Can GB-PVR startup my pc automatic and
then shut down when recording is ready?

Im greatful for all help i can get

  epg-related wishes
Posted by: dottore - 2004-08-21, 08:08 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

it would be nice to have an option to filter the epg-information. so one could view only series or only movies. another option could display all series/movies/whole information beginning from a defined prime-time (here in germany the movies start at 20.15 (8.15 pm)).

this could be implemented in the "search guide" - section.

just a few ideas.

by the way: i mentioned it before, but there were osd-problems with this: are you thinking of implementing the "aspect-ratio-thing"? [Image: smile.gif] would be nice to have!

v.20 crash when trying to go to live tv
Posted by: Guest - 2004-08-21, 07:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I saw this after trying to get to live tv. I have only had a chance to try this one, have not reproduced it yet. Looks like a null reference.

  Bitrate calculator
Posted by: tankd0g - 2004-08-21, 06:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

If anyone is trying to figure out what quality settings to use to fit your recording on DVD, run this http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm

Also, Sub could you tell me if I change the bitrate of "medium" in the config, will that bit rate be used for all pending recordings or will I have to go back and set them up again to use the new bitrate?

Probably a widely discussed problem: STUTTERING
Posted by: Gemini1706 - 2004-08-21, 05:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

LiveTV stuttering: causes and remedies.

I have a Pentium III 1GHz Machine with 256MB of ram (PC100), PVR-250MCE, Windows XP Pro with SP1, DirectX9.0c.
I am planning to use Radeon 9500 Pro for TV-Out, but for now I am using old TNT2 video card to view on monitor.
I also use a 30GByte Harddisk, 100ATA 7200rpm.

I installed GB-PVR successfully, and was experimenting on my monitor (before hooking stuff to mt TV using DVI with Radeon 9500 Pro).

During LiveTV, Windows Task Manager shows: ~ 70% to 80% CPU usage, and about 160MB of PageFile (virtual memory) usage (without GB-PVR it shows 90MB PageFile Usage)

For the LiveTV/playback I used:

1-a regular old TNT2 video card,
2- Installed a free codec pack (K-lite codec pack 2.27 Full from http://kppfree.altervista.org ) which uses elecard as the mpeg decoder.
3- I am using Overlay Manager (not VMR9) since my TNT2 video card cannot do VMR (obviously)

Now, the LiveTV option works fine except of those problems:

1- During fast moving scenes, the video blurs/slows down, which appear as a decoding issue.
Will changing my decoder to say Sonic Decoder or something similar will solve my problems?
Will increasing RAM help this? or it is just a decoder problem?

2- Even during slow/still scenes, or fast scenes, I see a little bit of stuttering (kinda like dropped frame??) with some scense every few seconds not running 100% smooth (jerky/jumpy). It is not very severe, but it is still noticable.
Is this Stuttering due to:
Low RAM? Do I need more RAM?
Slow Macine? I do not think so, since CPU usage never went above 80%
Bad Decoder? Will buying the Sonic codec help this? Unlikely since it is more like a system slowdown due to paging file or RAM or harddisk, (unlikely CPU)..
Video Card? Do you think installing the Radeon 9500 Pro will help resolve this? I do not see any link between the video card and the stuutering.. Is there?

Please help..
I really do not want to upgrade mu machine to a faster one, since it appears that CPU is not fully overloaded so a faster machine will not help..

Basically, what worked for you/other people?:

1- Better codec? Is this has anything to do with Sttutering?
2- More RAM?
3- Faster machine? (God, please NO NO)
4- Radeon 9500 Pro can help reduce stuttering? Unlikely

One LAST thing:
The shortcuts Ctrl+Q ...etc. for LiveTV as said in the FAQ section DO NOT WORK. I press Ctrl+Q but still LiveTV is running and does not pause... WHAT TO DO? I Still do not have a remote control...I am still EXPERIMENTING to see if the whole project is worth it or no..

Sorry for the long post.. [Image: rock.gif]

Thanks in advance...
Cheers...

  Remote Volume Control
Posted by: kenny - 2004-08-21, 04:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

Sub -- First I'd like to complement your work, it is first rate

However, I'm having one problem.

I'm unable to control the computers volume whenever I'm watching TV or playing any media.

The volume buttons still perform the left and right functions.

This can be handy for adding more music to the play list,
but I'm a little too lazy to get up and adjust the sound level manually.

What have I missed.

Hi Guys;

Is it possible to add a search feature to the Forum?

Seems to me if you've got a search feature, which I can't seem to find, it would cut down on a lot of repeat questions, Vid card resolution questions and such.
