  Language translators?
Posted by: sub - 2004-08-21, 12:09 AM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (46)

Now that we've got support for multiple languages, if anyone is willing to do translations to other languages - I'm happy to host them on the site so they're available for other users.

Its pretty straight forward, take a look at the language.xml.ignore file in the GB-PVR directory. Rename it language.xml and add your translations to the file and you should be away.

  Meedio
Posted by: djhomeless - 2004-08-20, 08:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Has anyone tried out both Meedio and GB-PVR? Is there any comparison? I've got a Media Server that I am outfitting with a Hauppage PVR250 next week and I'd like to try out GB-PVR.

However, looking at the specs it seems this app does more than Showshifter and others. Meedio is nice, but it still requires far too much tweaking and text file configurations to warrant spending $60 USD on it.

Also, is it possible to integrate other media players into GB? I'd be interested in integrating Winamp as my current Media Server has a nice array of visualisations.

One last question, does anyone use RedRat3 with the Sky Digibox?

Thanks All,

Geoffrey

Utilising X-Card AND TV Card at once...?
Posted by: joshley - 2004-08-20, 06:48 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I doubt if this is possible but I thought I'd stick it in, it's worth a mention...

Being able to do any of the following (presuming you have an X-Card and a capture device for the first two):

1) Be able to output TV from capture device (i.e. PVR-350) AND then watch a DVD but the output simply switches to X-Card when doing so.

This would be handy because the picture from my PVR-350 is better than that of my X-Card when outputting, and the delay from STB to TV is about 6-7 seconds, as opposed to 4 from the PVR-350. Would this be possible by having the option for both in config, and when you click on DVD it changes the setting and restarts the recording service. Obviously it would take a few seconds to restart when clicking on DVD but no one's gonna care about that! Then when going back to the menu restart the service again resetting back to the TV Card output.

2) Being able to output from both (really probably impossible) the X-Card and the TV Card and thus being able to use the picture from one and the sound from the other! This would require some kind of syncing of the two so the quickest only starts outputting when the slowest catches up. But this really is probably impossible because you'd need to drive two cards at once with the same input. Any way to use sound on one and pic on the other would be good. But just probably impossible!

3) Being able to clear the EPG programme list in config of any deselcted channels.

4) Being able to change the channel name in the EPG list?

Thanks again Sub for some awesome software [Image: biggrin.gif]

  Search function for web server?
Posted by: tankd0g - 2004-08-20, 06:16 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Will there ever be a guide keyword search built into the web interface? If we had that I would never have to turn on the monitor to my PVR again [Image: smile.gif]

Type in channel number in guide
Posted by: tankd0g - 2004-08-20, 05:45 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I have 800 channels in my TV Guide and it takes quite a while to scroll down to 650 to see what's on. Is there a technical reason that you can't just type the channel number in on the remote to jump to in the guide or is there just something wrong with the way my remote is set up?

OT: Support for remote controls characters?
Posted by: blader_se - 2004-08-20, 05:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

A bit of topic, but:

Have anyone implemented an irremote.ini that supports character input from Hauppage remote?

Since you can set the control in "modes", and it have the alphabet printed on top of the numeric buttons, it sort of invites me to do this. Anyone here that have done this?

I've played around with the "modes" stuff in the irremote.ini, sending output to a notepad document, but I never got the hang of how to automatically return from a mode at the same time as a character is sent.

  MSN Messenger Plugin
Posted by: CodeMonkey - 2004-08-20, 05:29 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (9)

I was thinking of doing a MSN Messenger plugin.  Trying to keep it simple, I would display contact information (online/offline etc.), and require the use of a keyboard to enter a message in a conversation. I decided on MSN only rather than one of the multi-protocol clients for two reasons;  wanting to keep it simple, and I only use MSN Messenger Wink.  I will use one of the existing libraries for the communication to MSN.  I am favoring dotMSN at the moment.  So everyone won't have to flock to the site to check it's license, here it is Wink

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">dotMSN can be used free of charge in both commercial and non-commercial software. Selling dotMSN as a library is forbidden. dotMSN is not (yet) open-source. It isn't that important, the documentation will answer most of your questions quicker than the source-code. [/QUOTE]

If you have a better suggestion for a library to use, or other comments, this is the place!

Sub, would there be a way for me to:

1) On the plugins display page (i.e. where the conversation is happening), also show whatever is currently being played (live tv, dvd, whatever) in a small window on that display?

2) Put a message on the live tv screen /dvd playback or whatever when a contact came online?  (This would be configurable on/off).

3) Is there a way to kickoff this plugin when GBPVR starts so that it could log in to MSN and notify the user (see #2 above) when a contact came online?

Thanks.

  Misc issues
Posted by: Mascot - 2004-08-20, 04:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I guess this is a combined bugreport/wishlist post. I caved in and bought an MVP, so this is all experienced using that.

- No feedback on which option is selected for &quot;resume&quot; or &quot;restart&quot; if that functionality is enabled in config. The default button stays outlined but the correct button is selected. (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- No OSD popping up after switching channels (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- The OSD is too transparent. Often impossible to read it (depending on what program is on in the background, obviously, for Windows there is no transparency so it's not an issue)

- Still freezes up quite easily while ff/rw during playback of recordings (I don't even know what keys do this in Windows so no idea if it's an MVP issue or not)

- (I assume this is a wishlist item, and possibly MVP specific) No ff/rw possible during live TV.

I'm using 0.20.5 btw.

  Skin Designs
Posted by: web_maven - 2004-08-20, 04:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi; I am new to this program, but I have been designing Web/Multimedia for many years now. I there a area where I can find the information on designing skins for GB-PVR?

Also is there any limitations for example I have a High Def TV can I design my images for 1920x1080, 1280x720 or is there are restrictions?

Give me all the details you have.

Thanks
Raymond
