I noticed in my installation folder, there was a folder called web. When open Header.html, the logo at the top say "Manage Recordings" Is this for scheduling recording online?

  Running As A Service
Posted by: leek - 2004-07-31, 10:08 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (14)

Just took a first look at your work today and I am well impressed.

It all looks very professional and works better than the Hauppage software for my MVP.

V well done - I especially look forward to DivX transcoding support but the quality has persuaded me to change over without it.

If it's of any interest to other users I've set tftpd32 and gbpvr to run as services on my PC so I don't have to log on or have any Hauppage software installed in order for GBPVR to work - it makes the whole thing seem a bit slicker ;o)

I had to do the same thing with my WLAN cards utility but once I'd figured out how to do it for GBPVR it was easy.

Thanks for all the work. [Image: wink.gif]

  Record and View ?

During a recording, is it possible to watch the channel beeing recorded?

LiveTV should "jump" to that channel, but instead I get "No source is free....."

  Customising EPG / tv guide
Posted by: djfoulkes - 2004-07-31, 02:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm sure I remember reading the answer to this, but can't find the post.

Is there a way to change the size of the rows on the TV guide i.e. if I change the number of channels displayed to 5, can I make the boxes larger so it still fills the screen.

The reason I want to do this is because the EPG is not clear enough on a (fairly small) TV screen.

Cheers
Dom

  Newbee question (big time!)
Posted by: Siggi - 2004-07-31, 10:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I have some very basic questions.  Have an oldish PC I plan to use as a PVR (and for nothing else).  Planning to put it next to the TV for now, possible adding an MPV later and move the PC away.

My questions are as follows:

If I buy the Hauppauge PVR-350, is there any more hardware I need apart from what normally is included with the PC and my wireless network?

I subscribe to Sky in the UK, having an Amstrad DRX300 STB.  The STB has two scart sockets (in/out) currently in use, two RF Out and an RS 232 port.  My questions are:  How/can I control the STB from the PVR?  How do I best connect the STB to the PVR card?

Finally, am I right to assume that once this is set up with GB-PVR I do not neet to have keyboard, mouse or monitor attached to the PC/PVR, but will be able to control it with the remote?

Sorry for these basic questions, but any help would be appreciated!  Thanks.

  TV-OUT freezes
Posted by: chrisjbzero - 2004-07-31, 10:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

After the success of fixing the blinking OSD via the TV-out with the PVR350 I am now getting lockups when trying to either use the skip or replay keys on the haupauge remote when replaying a recorded programme.  When watching a recored programme on the TV pressing the skip/replay keys on the remote sometimes cause the TV screen to lock on narrow pink vertical strips.  I can close down GBPVR from the PC keyboard but cannot clear the TV screen. The only way to restore service is a PC re-boot and restart GBPVR.

I have sent log files from a couple of example failures under separate cover.  Hope you can help.

  EPG Problem "Germany"
Posted by: s.grobi - 2004-07-31, 10:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello,

i came from Germany and find GP-PVR is a really great piece of software.
Lately i have upgraded to version 19. But this did not solve the problem that i have:
In the TV Guide of GB-PVR the title of any movie is always shown with its original name. But there is a german title name in the epg.xml file too.
eg.:
The movie is called in germany: Abrechnung in Abilene
The original title (USA) is: Gunfighters of Abilene

The section in the epg.xml file looks like this:
<title lang="de">Abrechnung in Abilene</title>
<title>Gunfighters of Abilene</title>

The EPG data is beeing grabbed by XMLTV (tv_grab_de_tvtoday).

I think GP-PVR does not unterstand the item ...lang="de"=...
Can anybody tell me what i could do to get this right?

Thanks in advance.

S.Grobi

  Skin creation - task.png problems
Posted by: tieke - 2004-07-31, 09:27 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (8)

Hi all, have just found GBPVR, which is such a great application it has caused me to send off for a Hauppage-250 to go with my MVP.

While waiting for it to arrive, I'm just setting up a skin using "Flat-Blue" as a base in order to make the various screens easier to read on my 29" TV from across the room. I'm slowly getting there, except I have problems with getting the task images to show for three of the plugins I have installed (cartoons, picture and disk space) although it works fine with the weather plugin.

ie. I have set the Special Element TaskImage to visible in my main menu skin.xml, and have created 250x180 icons for all the menu options, which all work perfectly until you hit one of those three plugins, at which point the MVP just crashes, or, more informatively the internal GBPVR gives the following exception text:

************** Exception Text **************
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
  at System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawImage(Image image, Int32 x, Int32 y, Int32 width, Int32 height)
  at bv.d()
  at bv.a(String A_0)
  at bv.a(Message& A_0)
  at System.Windows.Forms.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
  at System.Windows.Forms.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

etc

I have placed task.png images into the appropriate three directories - whereabouts do I have to go to let GBPVR know this?

thanks,

Simon

ps. I'm also looking for where I go to update the TaskDescriptions - basically I want to change the Search Guide description to "Search...for your favourite shows" rather than "...you favourite shows".

  Grief in Wellington

Hi Sub,

I'd been thinking about the whole PVR thing for ages (a couple of years), and after finding GB-PVR and discovering it would interface with the MVP, well I was sold! So I went out and ordered a WinTV-PVR 250 and it arrived yesterday. And so began my frustration.

I still haven't been able to tune the channels! I get *some* stuff, but it I can't get all the channels. I have tried both GB-PVR and the bundled software (WinTV2k). I never realised this would be as frustrating as it has been.

Have you got any ideas for a kiwi noob?

Thanks.
