I've tried to setup the direct.ini file for a new card as
described on other posts.
When I look at a graphEdit file that will record TV to
a file, I see pin names that do not appear in other
direct.ini files. For example, from the standard files
there are entries like:
This was a major issue for me using Myth... the inability to adjust overscan/underscan easily. So far, I think SageTV does the best job doing this in terms of ease. I'm pretty sure there are registry settings for the Hauppauge cards regarding Overscan/Underscan, but can a plugin be developed to allow one to make these adjustments in a more generic way so that it will work for any card?
I'm going to take some time to get comfortable with the Interface before I jump in and help out (I love Gb-PVR so far by the way, great work to everyone!.
Out of curiosity, what about a setup plugin that will allow one to configure many of the features of Gb-PVR as well as it's plugins? Not sure if I'm the one to tackle this (yet), but I wanted to post this as a suggestion...
Sub (or anyone else),
You see any issues with doing something like this? Depending on the settings being changed, you'd probably have to restart the recording service right? If that's the case, then this plugin would have to check if anything is currently being recorded or is about to be recorded within the next say.. 30 seconds or something before continuing... just thoughts, any input?
I understand that although these cards capture a digital MPEG2 signal and can record it to disk, GB-PVR does not support them. Â What is required to allow GB-PVR to cope with them?
We are having a discussion in another thread about commercial skipping which gave me a idea for another plugin. This one would take the original stored mpeg file and apply the commercial skips cut points, saving a new mpeg file with the result.
That way once you knew the cut points were accurate you could create a new recording without the commercials so you wouldn't have to skip manually all the time.
