  Help with NVidia MCE Chipset
Posted by: JustMe - 2004-05-26, 04:49 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi All,

I've tried to setup the direct.ini file for a new card as
described on other posts.

When I look at a graphEdit file that will record TV to
a file, I see pin names that do not appear in other
direct.ini files. For example, from the standard files
there are entries like:

PIN_CAPTURE_I2S_OUT=I2S
PIN_CAPTURE_656_OUT=656
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

and:

PIN_CAPTURE_CAPTURE_OUT=Capture
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

On another post, I saw something like:
PIN_CAPTURE_CAPTURE_OUT=Something1/Something2

Scanning the files I've seen, leads me to try the following:

BLACKBIRD=0
CONEXANT=0
FILTER_CROSSBAR=NVIDIA MCE TV Crossbar
FILTER_CAPTURE=NVIDIA MCE TV
FILTER_TV_TUNER=NVIDIA MCE TV Tuner
FILTER_TV_AUDIO=NVIDIA MCE TV Audio
FILTER_ENCODER=NVIDIA MCE TV Encoder
...
...
...
PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_AUDIO_IN=Input4
PIN_CAPTURE_CAPTURE_OUT=Output0/Output1
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=in

In graphEdit, I don't get the same names that the other
cards seems to have for these last three entries. I have
tried things like:

PIN_CAPTURE_INPUT4_IN=Input4
PIN_CAPTURE_OUPUT0_OUT=Output0
PIN_CAPTURE_OUPUT1_OUT=Output1
PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=in

I've been reloading the file/stopping the service between
file edits.

Does anyone know if I am able to get my card going? Are
names fixed?

Any help greatly appreciated.

cheers!

  Overscan Adjustability
Posted by: windsorguy13 - 2004-05-26, 01:58 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

This was a major issue for me using Myth... the inability to adjust overscan/underscan easily. So far, I think SageTV does the best job doing this in terms of ease. I'm pretty sure there are registry settings for the Hauppauge cards regarding Overscan/Underscan, but can a plugin be developed to allow one to make these adjustments in a more generic way so that it will work for any card?

Thanks,
Brian

  Setup Plugin
Posted by: windsorguy13 - 2004-05-26, 01:07 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

I'm going to take some time to get comfortable with the Interface before I jump in and help out (I love Gb-PVR so far by the way, great work to everyone!Wink.
Out of curiosity, what about a setup plugin that will allow one to configure many of the features of Gb-PVR as well as it's plugins? Not sure if I'm the one to tackle this (yet), but I wanted to post this as a suggestion...

Sub (or anyone else),
You see any issues with doing something like this? Depending on the settings being changed, you'd probably have to restart the recording service right? If that's the case, then this plugin would have to check if anything is currently being recorded or is about to be recorded within the next say.. 30 seconds or something before continuing... just thoughts, any input?

Thanks,
Brian

  Digital Freeview TV
Posted by: ecruos - 2004-05-25, 09:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

I have been looking at the following freeview cards:

Nebula DigiTV
and
WinTV Nova-T

I understand that although these cards capture a digital MPEG2 signal and can record it to disk, GB-PVR does not support them.  What is required to allow GB-PVR to cope with them?

  MPEG 'remix' plugin
Posted by: CodeMonkey - 2004-05-25, 04:58 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

We are having a discussion in another thread about commercial skipping which gave me a idea for another plugin. This one would take the original stored mpeg file and apply the commercial skips cut points, saving a new mpeg file with the result.

That way once you knew the cut points were accurate you could create a new recording without the commercials so you wouldn't have to skip manually all the time.

  What TV card should I buy and from where?
Posted by: JetJackson - 2004-05-25, 02:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

OK, so I want to buy a TV card to use with GB-PVR.

What is the cheapest card I can buy? The front page says it works with the Hauppauge PVR 250 / 350 but these are quite expensive.

Does it work with the super cheap WinTV Go?

What aver acrds are best and where can i buy them?
