  Antenna and Sattelite ?? Setup??
Posted by: A320 - 2004-07-29, 10:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I have the following setup/hardware:

An antenna where I can recieve 5 channels.
A set-top-box which can recieve about 50 channels.
TWO hauppauge 250 cards.

Now, here is the problem: The set-top-box can "deliver" the recieved signal on either SVGA or "emulating a channel" on the antenna cable (bad quality).

How do I "tell" GbPvr about this setup. I would like to loop the antenna-cable to BOTH my tuner-cards, and the SGVA output from the set-top-box to (i guess) only one of them.

I start with only one hauppauge 250 board:

I have tried to make two capture-sources both pointing to the same "board", one using "internal tuner" the other using "external tuner - svga". But now there is no conflictchecking - GbPvr allows me to schedule two recordings using the same board (but different capture-sources).

So back to my original question:

How to setup "half antenna" and "half set-top-box" (the latter utilizes channel selector)

Thanks for a great program

  Screen Saver
Posted by: mouserdrip15 - 2004-07-29, 09:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,
Firstly, Great software!

Is then anyway to turn that pesky screensaver off which appears built in to the MVP? It wouldnt be so bad if it was a little more interesting and did'nt kick in so quickly!

Thanks

Rob

  -mvpmode & VMR9
Posted by: jeffcora - 2004-07-29, 05:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi there,

I have an annoying problem when I start instances of GVPVR for MVP automatically before logging onto my machine. If the instances of GBPVR for MVP start up before I log onto my machine, the processes fail to start and when I do log on I get the error "VMR9 does not appear to be supported on your machine..." X number of times for each instance. I assume this is something to do with display drivers that are loaded at the point you log on. Of course once logged on I can then start GBPVR for MVP and GBPVR successfully.

Kind of a wish I guess as I don't think that there is a solution to this but as the VMR9 and Overlay etc are not applicable to the MVP could future releases get round this, or isn't it that simple?

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

  DVD Controls
Posted by: snowspeeder - 2004-07-29, 02:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Im having problems trying to controll a dvd. When I play the DVD everything runs smooth. But the problem is, I can't exit the dvd, rewind, fastfoward, stop, pause.. or anything like that. It will just play, then when I need to stop it I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to end GB-PVR before it will stop. I have PowerDVD installed using its codec (I think) any help?

task.png file for main menu - crashing on plugins!
Posted by: oshapir - 2004-07-29, 12:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

I'm adding task.png for every task in the main menu,
every thing works fine, but moving the cursor to the pictures or the Diskspace task crashes GB-PVR.
I have a task.png in the pictures and Diskspace folder - as in the rest of the tasks' folders.

BTW, Weather plugin works fine.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Oren.

  Card not being initialised correctly
Posted by: otoelker - 2004-07-29, 10:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I think I finally narrowed down my wintv-pvr-usb2 problems to this:
When I leave the PC switched on all scheduled recordings work. If I put the PC to standby then gbpvr will wake the pc to record the scheduled show and go back to standby. BUT, if I have a look at them later the picture is all green and red and garbled as if the channel was not tuned in properly. This can only be resolved by running wintv once (looks like this resets something in the card).
I tried a second scenario where I leave the PC switched on: Gbpvr records everything, goes to standby. When it now wakes up to record a second show the picture is fine ! What is the difference between me putting the PC into standby manually and gbpvr putting it into standby automatically ? Is it possible that gbpvr doesn't initialize the card properly when it wakes from standby ? Unnecessary to mention, but the wintv schedule application works in both cases without distorted picture.
Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Oliver

  Can't FF/RW
Posted by: Guest - 2004-07-29, 07:22 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

First of all, love your program.

It's not just this release. I've never gotten it to work. Sometimes it seems like it might skip 1 frame, once with Intervideo I got it to work kind of if I kept pressing it but then the audio was way out of sync.

With this new release I enabled the FF/RW = skip 10 seconds option and it works fine.

I have a PVR250 and I've tried mutliple video decoders like Intervideo, Cyberlink, and Moonlight all with the same problem.. Tried vm9/7 and overlay manager too.

-- Different problem ---

I use a geforce 4 to output the video to my tv. When I try to use vmr9 or 7 it will show the video when the osd is up just fine, but as soon as the OSD goes away it stretchs the video sideways a bunch.

I'm pretty sure it's just some video setting somewhere that's wrong because I had it working fine once, I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. Right now I just use the 'overlay manager' and it works.

  Anamorphic Scaling
Posted by: TheJake - 2004-07-29, 01:08 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I'd love to see a option for people with 16:9 televisions that scale 4:3 video sources.  For those unfamiliar with anamorphism:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/article....mo.html

What I envision is a setting that tells the PVR software what the output device's aspect ratio is.  If the video card is putting out a 4:3 video signal, and your output device is 16:9, then the PVR would "squish" the video such that it appears proper at 16:9 display resolution.  4:3 video sources played on a 16:9 might have black bars added to the edges, or zoomed to full frame.

While I'm at it, I've always wished for a selectable mode that would push a 4:3 ratio video to one side on a 16:9 display. The extra space would then be used for email alerts, guide data, whatever.

I dunno, just rambling I guess. Still waiting for my capture device to be delivered, so hope to be a GB-PVR user soon.  Right now, I'm just playing with existing video libraries.

Jake
