Hi
Is there any way to increase the audio record levels as programs I have recorded with GB_PVR the audio is quite low when played back on the media MPV, also can GB_PVR support more them 1 MPV spooling video at the same time?
I managed to get gb-pvr working with MediaMVP and its just what I needed for my bedroom as a pc would have been too loud to use. But when I'm watching TV it works fine for about 5 mins then the MediaMVP crashes and locks up. I check the pc with gb-pvr and seems to be still serving as the hard drive light is still flashing. Anyone had this problem before?
I just finished installing WinXP on a fresh hd to test with GB PVR. I'm currently running on a Celeron 500 / i810 chipset / 256mb ram / 40gb free disk space. I have already installed the drivers for the hauppauge 250 and 350 in my system.
When I run the installer, it doesn't launch the config utility at the end of installation like it does on my other test machine. Instead, I tried to manually launch the configuration client and receive the following error:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."
This happens whether I launch the config or the actual application.
Well, its about 24hrs now since I stumbled across GB-PVR. My MediaMVP was delivered on friday and quite frankly i think its an amazing bit of kit. My Mini-ITX based PVR has now been retired to be re-assigned to othe duties.
So, intial comments.. My overall thoughts are what a fantastic piece of software I do seem to be having a few problems :-
1. Video playback - I dont get the OSD as shown in the help. Why is this?
2. MP3 playback progress - you can't tell what MP3 is playing and how far through it is.
The plugins are great, the picture plugin knocks the socks off the standard MVP picture viewer. I have a few comments about ow the package could be improved. So - What else would I like...
1. DVB support!!.
If this software supported DVB it would quite suimply be the best PVR software available. I have a Hauppauge Nova PCI DVB card which I have owned for over a year now. I've yet to find a decent piece of software to exploit this card. The Hauppauge software is OK (ish) , but its terrible on a TV. Coupled with the superb EPG support etc it would really finish this off.
2. Video library playback
The ability to skip through a playing back file with the number keys - as you can with the haupauge software would be good. 1 skips to 10% of the way though, 2 to 20%, 3 to 30% etc.
3. UK weather page
I have installed and configured the weather plugin. Weather forecasting varies from 'provider' to 'provider'. It would be good if the source of the information used in the weather applet could configured; i.e. bbc.co.uk, metcheck.com, weather.co.uk. everybody has their favourite. Satellite picture
is great though.
i'm trying to configure both on my PVR350 card - composite input and tuner-input. I do this with 2 different capturing sources - one for tuner and one for the composite.
I've only enabled the epg-channels related to the capturing-sources in the profiles. But if i program something to be recorded, it's allways the compsite source, where the stream is captured form. What i've doing wrong?
I am a real newbee so please excuse my ignorance and hope I am posting this in the correct area. I just dowloaded and installed the GB-PVR software but I cannot get the configuration screen to come up at all. Does anyone have any suggestions why it will not load on my PC.
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I use GBPVR as the interface on MVP's and have never been able to reliably navigate through .mpg files. When I Fast forward (or rewind), the MVP displays the FFD symbol, but the picture just freezes and after about 5 secs returns back to the menu screens. When using skip, the video quite often jumps to a random place sometimes near to the end (50 minutes or so). The length of the video is often reported wrong as well.
Most of my mpgs are from video capture on a Hauppauge WinTV Express card and I get the same result on DVD's I've ripped. I thought at first that it was due to my slow machine, but I built a new one yesterday with the same result. Â
Should I expect for this to reliably work, or is it still work in progress? Would getting a card like the PVR350 help, or is that just for capture and direct TV output i.e. wouldn't help play back of mpgs on an MVP using GBPVR?
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated so I can start to use the Video options on this great looking app, and finally stop using the default MVP interface.
Hey all, I had no trouble setting up a previous version of GBPVR, but I downloaded the new version, installed and configured, started it up, clicked LiveTV and got the error message "Failure to communicate with GBOVR Recording Service. I have a Hauppauge 350 (and it's selected in the config). Any ideas?
Hi,
i have a little pblm with GB-PVR and fine tuning frequency.
I have noticed that GB-PVR look to the TS0-0 registry key.
But in France, the code country is 33.
I have fine tuned my frequency with GotTv and copied the TS33-0 key into a TS0-0 key, but the fine frequency is not used !?!?
I have image but doesn't have sound Edit :

Given that the MediaMVP has such a terrible screensaver in idle and music mode, which seems virtually impossible to remove, don't you think we could do better? Â
Presumably if a GBPVR screensaver kicked in (after a minute with no rendering or video) pushing a black bitmap every few seconds, that would stop MVP's screen saver from kicking in (overriding it)... which has to be a good thing.
In Phase 2: I'm thinking of customisable screen saver plugins, maybe just an extention of the existing Plugin API, which GBPVR could kick off when the video is idle: we could then have people write basic animations, or a PicturesRotatorPlugin ;-)
