Currently the data obtained from the http xml interface is not rich compared to the NEWA JSON interface which basically provides as much of the EPG record as it can. I think as a minimum the following changes should be considered
1) method=channel.listings
- add season and episode numbers
- add movie year
- separate subtitle field I will use this to clean description
- new indicator <= not even used by Kodi but need to display
2) method=recording.list
- include genre
- include movie year
- currently I regex the subtitle for S##E## probably need to keep that for new versions.
I have an interesting problem.
Recent clean install of win10 and Npvr (among other bits of program).
TV Guide.xml is made by EPG Collector.
Problem is EPG updates ok in Npvr manually, but does not automatically update at set time (in Misc 2) In fact it does not update at all. I have to manually update EPG each day.
Recording service updates ok with new programs.
I have tried reboot, stop and start recording service and restarting Npvr to no avail.
what have I done wrong?
I can send logs if needed.
Not sure if 4.2.4 is the culprit, but this problem started as soon as I upgraded.
I use iptv-epg.com for most of my EPG and it has always worked fine. Now, I get no listings and the logs show a 500 error consistently for the past 2 days whenever I try to update the EPG. Gettingg the file works just fine in Chrome though so not sure what's going on.

Recently had to rebuild on new hardware after almost 8 years. It didn't owe me anything!
I've reloaded everything but I'm missing one thing. I have a number of dvd's ripped and I can see the name.dvd when I go in through the Video's screen. However all I get is a black or grey screen. I've tried the decoders installed (seen below) and I can't get it to work.
Screenshot of decoders installed and logs are attached.
I’m new to NextPVR and have been enjoying using it. However I’m currently having a couple of minor hiccups/problems with my setup, and was wondering if anyone could help please?
I’m in the UK and currently have: A PCI-E dual tuner card using freesat (DVB-S) and just recently added a Hauppauge dual USB tuner using freeview (DVB-T).

Problem with EPG listings
[/B]At present I’m missing EPG listings for the following channels:
ITV4+1
ITVBE+1
5Star+1
5Spike+1
Sony Movies+1
True Crime+1
Paramount
Previous to this I was missing a lot more of the EPG listings for my channels, but found an old post on the NextPVR forums mentioning changing the “SID:” number in channel details. After looking online for the SID numbers, this fixed a lot the missing EPG info for many channels but unfortunately not the ones listed above.
Problem with artwork and recent recordings
Lastly just yesterday Kodi has stopped displaying any artwork/metadata in recent recordings (have attached screenshot below). I installed & updated to NextPVR release 4.2.4.190307 yesterday afternoon and I can only assume I’ve made a mistake in the settings somewhere. Film/TV Series Artwork still appears in the “EPG listings” and also “timers” but is missing in recent recordings.
For some reason all previous artwork which was displayed in recent recordings has also been deleted. (I appreciate that in some cases artwork isn’t always found for some Film & TV programs, however have tried recording Time Team today which normally has artwork and recent recordings is still blank for this programme unfortunately.)
I have “show metadata screens in recordings” ticked in the NextPVR Settings, along with "Download TV Guide Artwork" selected on the NextPVR Kodi Addon.
If any further information is required please let me know and will be more than happy to provide it.
Many thanks in advance for any help/assistance anyone can offer me.
About a year ago, I was in this forum reporting a bug where npvr was
creating defective recordings. Although the records could play black
within npvr itself, they could not play using wmplayer. With vlc they
do play, but the time fields were all zero and the hotkeys don't work,
although the progress bar still works.
This bug started happening when I switched from Windows media center
to npvr in 2016. It continued when I switched from a Ceton tuner card
to an HDHomerun. In the last year, there have been several new
versions of npvr, but the problem has not disappeared.
In the last month, I changed from a Windows 7 system to a new computer
running Windows ten, and the problem persisted.
So that eliminated almost all the variables. The bug did not occur
with media center, but it did with npvr in numerous configurations --
ceton vs hdhomerun, Windows 7 vs windows 10.
The only possibility left is that this is a bug in npvr.
During the last month I started looking at specific situations when it
happens and when it doesn't, and this has led me to find exactly what
the bug is in npvr.
Fam was recorded from 21:29 for 31 minutes on tuner 25, while Broad
City was recorded from 22:00 for 30 minutes on tuner 25. Fam is on
channel 4, and Broad City is on channel 61. So, theoretically, tuner
25 switches from channel 4 to channel 61 at exactly 10 pm.
Here's the NPVR status as of about 30 seconds past 10 pm:
This state of affairs goes on for two minutes.
Notice that BOTH programs are recording, even though they're on
different channels using the same tuner. There is no planet on which
that make sense.
The result is that the meta-data for BOTH recordings is wiped out.
This is the bug that's been occurring for years.
This is due to pre-padding (defaults to one minute) and post-padding
(defaults to two minutes). Pre- and post-padding is a GOOD thing when
you're recording the same channel, but is a BAD thing when you're
changing channels.
To fix this bug in npvr requires a new "overlap algorithm":
If one recording is overlapping the next recording on the same
tuner on the same channel, then overlapping is wonderful.
But if they're on different channels, then the end time of the
first recording and the start time of the second recording must be
adjusted so that there's a gap of a few seconds between them, to
give the tuner a chance to reset. This has to override the pre-
and post- settings, since it never makes sense to record two
different channels on the same tuner at the same time.
This should fix the bug in npvr that creates defective recordings.
I'm providing this information to you in the hope that it will be
useful to you.
