  Suggestion for Client/Server Environment
Posted by: Guest - 2004-01-14, 06:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I would like to suggest a possible alternative approach that could help your DirectShow problem. As you know I am pushing for the MediaMVP as a client, but thinking about it somemore, you might want to change your whole environment to be a native client/server type environment. Reading the forums, what it seems like everyone is moving toward is adding client support. SnapStream is trying to add a client component, Sage already has a client component, Microsoft is coming out with somekind of client box for MCE, OpenSource guys are hacking the MediaMVP, GBPVR-Sage-Snapstream are all working on MediaMVP clients. It also seems like alot of people are trying to put there media servers in there garages or wiring closets where the noise is not a problem. Given the above, it seems to me that if you were the first to fully adopt this approach, you could really win over a lot of would be customers.

The environment that I see is:

Server - capture only; use multiple PVR-250s; big disks to store recorded shows, ripped cd's, ripped DVD's, digital stills; support only PVR-350 for local display;...

Client - Lowend PC or MediaMVP; less than $100 US for MVP; lowend PC's are about $300; cost of PVR-250 plus MVP is about equal to PVR-350; client would be able to display liveTV, play recorded shows, DVDs or CD's; ...

Just my $0.02 US, I guess that would be about $0.06 NZ.

Also, I would be interested in your users comments. Maybe, I missing something and this not a good idea.

  problem adding svga or composite
Posted by: Beowulf - 2004-01-14, 06:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I added a compsite source, but I am clueless where I can find it in GBPVR?
The config screen at tab Capture sources it shows one entry with the Hauppauge PVR 350 and one entry with composite (using direct recording plugin, settings capture card #1, composite external tuner). It is to connect my digital cable TV decoderbox, using composite video in.
So, the tuner as well the composite use card#1. As I have only 1 card. :-)

Thanks in advance!

  request/wishlist
Posted by: Beowulf - 2004-01-14, 05:00 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (9)

After 1 day playing with this program. I have a few requests:

1. make it possible to add additional harddrives/partitions in the video menu. And also to select a different drive or directory by browsing. For example when I insert my removable harddisk, I would like to play the programs stored on that disk.

2. Make live TV NOT to immediately record the live stream. Why? Just record when you hit pause. That is the showshifting. I like to surf the channels.

3. Only record the live video streams if the streaming server is enabled. So, if you select a channel via the streaming server, then it can buffer a few megabytes before sending to the client PC. I have no problems with a 30 second delay.

4. Teletext recording and showing? I am deaf and I would love to simply record a show and just have my TV enter page 888 or even page 100 if I wanted. The Hauppauge card PVR 350 is able to record teletext? Is it?

5. Recording shows: I want my computer to record programs in this way: IF PC is on standby, wake up computer, record the show and then go back to sleep. This is nice for users who have a dedicated digital HD PVR. If a mouse is moved (or other action indication like watching a DVD at the same time). The program should still go to standby if it detects no activity after 10 minutes. (say when the screensaver kicks in, then tell to go back to standby).

For the rest.. Good work!

TV out Hauppauge 350 not perfect aligned on TV
Posted by: Beowulf - 2004-01-14, 01:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am now running version 0.09. When I want to watch live TV or record a show or anything. I am getting a black border on the bottom of the screen and a small thin one at the right side of the screen.
It only happens with GB-PVR and not with WinTV PVR from Hauppauge.
I think it is overscan? Please help.

Thanks!

PS Compliments on this program. It is very promising and quite well working.

  Manuel recordings details
Posted by: Myro - 2004-01-12, 09:47 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

it would be nice to be able to enter a description for manual recordings. Also a minute time increment (instead of 10 minutes). And of course, recurring recordings, not just "once".

Thanks

MediaMVP + Leadtek 2000XP Deluxe Tuner
Posted by: Skull - 2004-01-12, 08:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I have a MediaMVP and a Leadtek 2000XP Deluxe Tuner Card.

Should the PVR work for me via MediaMVP? If not for life TV, for playback of captured MPEG's?

Thanks!

  Channel frequencies
Posted by: Jurrien - 2004-01-12, 04:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm having problems tuning the tuner to the right frequencies.  Here in Belgium my cable operator uses frequencies instead of channel numbers.  I'm also a Sage TV user and I had the same problem there.  This is how I solved it in Sage:

I added some registry keys:
hkey local machine/software/mirosoft/tv system services/tvautotune
TS0-0
and TS0-1

with a list of channel - freq mappings:
1 203250000 (this would be 203,25Mhz) TV1 in Belgium
2 62250000 (this would be 622,25Mhz) Canvas in Belgium
...

This did the trick in SageTV, can I do something similar in GB-PVR?
I really want to check out your MediaMVP support, I think sage will have it too in the future but you guys seem to be faster in implementing it, looks promising...
