  HDHomeRun Premium Streaming channels
Posted by: ccihon - 2018-11-20, 06:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

SiliconDust has added a streaming package that allows users of their ATSC/QAM tuners (not the Prime CableCard units) to add a group of streamed network channels to their locally tuned lineup of around US $35 per month, and given a comparison of other stream-only services like Sling or YouTubeTV, looks like a good value. Adding this subscription adds these channels to the Connect tuner as additional channels in the 1000+ range above any locally tuned channels, at least when the latest firmware is on the device and the HDHR app is used. Their site mentions upcoming availability of these channels via Plex DVR, and I saw mention that some SageTV users are already tuning these directly in Sage but via "OpenDCT" rather than the native tuner instance. Any idea if this method or some other would allow these streamed HDHR channels to be visible via NPVR? I re-scanned the Connect Dual tuner I have and while the channels are working fully in the HDHR apps, they remain invisible to NPVR, where I see only the ATSC channels I always had, via antenna.

SD's info on the service: https://www.silicondust.com/allinone/

  Slow to transcode live shows
Posted by: mrdally204 - 2018-11-20, 09:11 AM - Forum: NextPVR Android Client - Replies (5)

I've noticed it takes quite a bit longer for a live channel to be transcoded and viewed in the app than it does while watching a previously recorded show. The link below shows first an attempt to watch a live show being transcoded. This takes 18 seconds to begin. The second is watching a show that was perviously recorded. This takes closer to 5 seconds. The source is a network attached hdhomerun. Is this expected behavior?

  Advanced Channel Management
Posted by: NumberFive - 2018-11-19, 01:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Just a thought on scanning / updating / adding / removing channels.

It's quite frustrating how many channels keep coming and going, moving about and changing name on Freeview. On a TV it's handy enough just to let it scan and see what it finds, but on NextPVR there's a clear need for a more considered approach as there are several tuners, different types of tuner (DVB-T, S, IPTV), and so on.

A tool I think would make things easier is something that would let you compare the latest channel scan against the present database of TV channels. I've attached an example. The orange channels have moved LCN, the purple channel has renamed, and the red channel is no longer broadcast. The green channel is new.

There'd be more subtly to it I'm sure sub knows lots more about, but I imagine it could have some logic based on if these channels are currently assigned to the tuner being scanned.

  Delete channel groups
Posted by: jetfixr - 2018-11-19, 01:59 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I can go into setting and delete channel groups for French, Italian, Polish, latino, because these aren't languages I am going to pick up any time soon. But on the drop down menu for the guide when I pull up groups, these groups still exist. How can I get rid of them?

New 4.2.3 update kills http XMLTV sources
Posted by: sbiddle - 2018-11-18, 01:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I've just installed 4.2.3 on my main machine and notice when I go to edit existing XMLTV sources that were set to a http:// URL sources that these are lost and now default back to a local file. The database shows the correct source still and updates work - it just displays incorrectly in the channels EPG area.

Is this a bug sub or something just affecting me?

How do I tell if I am running the latest NextPVR Kodi Add-on?
Posted by: PapaJay - 2018-11-17, 11:52 PM - Forum: NextPVR Other Clients - Replies (2)

I have been trying to determine if the NextPVR add-on that I am running on Kodi is the latest stable release. I searched for 'kodi nextpvr addon download' which got me to 'Add-on:NextPVR PVR Client' (https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:NextPVR_PVR_Client). On this page there are a tabs for View Source and View History which lead me to believe that the current release of the add-on was 3.3.4 until I realized that this was for Platform=osx-x86_64.

I am running Kodi on a Raspberry Pi. Perhaps the release numbers are the same on all platforms, perhaps they are not.

On the Raspberry Pi I am running LibreELEC 8.2.5 which has Kodi 17.6 in its distribution. When I look at the NextPVR add-on in this environment it states that it is release 2.4.13.1. LibreELEC says this is current (there are no updates available). Is there other anyway that I can tell if this is the current stable release?

Why am I trying to determine if my add-on is current? After updating from OpenELEC 7.0.1 (Kodi 16.1, NextPVR add-on 1.12.19) to LibreELEC 8.2.5 new recordings do not appear in the list of recordings until we either delete an existing recording, enable and disable the NextPVR add-on, or reboot the Raspberry Pi (these latter two actions cause the add-on to be reloaded at which point it contacts the NextPVR server to request new lists of recordings, etc.). This was not updating was not a problem on OpenELEC 7.0.1.

I may be running into the problem reported as 'New recordings not updating' located here: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...t-updating. I am unsure as I have no idea what release of NextPVR add-on Brucek2839 is running on his Raspberry Pi.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Npvr not skipping comskip break points
Posted by: glb1945 - 2018-11-17, 11:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Npvr shows the comskip commercial break points on the time line, but stops at each breakpoint, i.e., does not skip over the commercials indicated by the break point to the next part of the show.
