Hi
I'm moving a replacement Windows system into production 7.0.1 (241229) that will replace a long running system 4.2.4 (190307).
1.
I would like to move from the old system whatever db carries the record of watched shows (it appears to prevent repeats)
I will be using the exe client and recording Over the Air material.
2.
At the time of the conversion I will be swapping in my current production 4 tuner card to replace the 1 tuner card for testing. During testing I setup my stations and Schedules direct for the single tuner. It there a way to copy this to all tuners on the muti-tuner card without editing each station. This data would be new system to new system after card installation.
I could rescan each sub tuner, it is the process of re-editing EPG selection for each station I'm trying to avoid.
I am using the latest version of NextPVR Version: 7.0.1.241229 on Windows 11.
I live in the Eastern Time zone in the USA.
My timezone is EDT(UTC-4) (by using time.gov).
I like to record Late Night comedy shows: Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Taylor Tomlinson(After Midnight).
I like to watch the recordings during the next day (during daylight).
I have two(2) TV tuners.
Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert start approximately near 11:30 p.m. and end approximately at 30 minutes after midnight. I record these in parallel.
Seth Meyers, and Taylor Tomlinson(After Midnight) start approximately near 1:30 a.m. and end approximately at 2:30 a.m. I record these in parallel.
Typically, I create a recording either by
(1) using the TV Guide and clicking Record Series. or by
(2) using the Scheduler to do a Manual recording
The recordings that start approximately near 1:30 a.m. and end approximately at 2:30 a.m. comprise of 60 minutes of video (as expected).
The recordings (Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert) that start approximately near 11:30 p.m. and end approximately at 30 minutes after midnight comprise of only 30 minutes of video. These are short of the 60 minutes expected.
For some strange reason the 11:30 p.m. recordings stop suddenly at midnight instead of recording through-midnight to 30 minutes after midnight.
I have checked the nrecord logs. No errors exist. Also, my PostProcessing.bat starts too early at midnight instead of at 30 minutes after midnight.
I checked the Schedule Recurring description of the start time and end time.
I checked the table RECURRING_RECORDING (I am at EDT(UTC-4) StartTime and EndTime.
These two values were scheduled before midnight and after midnight.
This "stop at midnight" problem seems strange.
What should I do next?
I have been using nextpvr for quite a few years with a DVB-T tuner with great success - the old compro just keeps on going!
as i will soon be upgrading the machine, and the old card will be retired, i have started using the FTA IPTV channels to do the same thing...
Only it behaves like there is only a "single" tuner on that device....
what happens is - if the programs overlap, i get the first bit of the earlier scheduled recording, and it stops when the later recording starts...
I then end up with the first bit of one show, and the last bit of another...
with the hardware tuner - i get a warning if i overlap recordings on different TS streams (mux) ....so i cant actually screw that up (i can record as many channels on the same stream as i like)
With the IPTV streams - there is no such warning....so im not sure if the concept of a 'mux' applies...each channel seems to have its own .m3u url...
I'm just wondering if there is a setting i am missing, or if it is a limitation of the resources available to the IPTV device?
(or NPVR cant actually record simultaneous iptv streams)
Win 10 64 system, updating from version 6 to version 7. Got an error statement upon running the install.exe. After install, I cannot access the localhost url. I can access the desktop app, and the tray app never goes green.
Ive read through and searched posts to confirm/not what works best. I am currently trialling npvr on a raspberry pi5 16gb
Seems fine so far, I guess the 16Gb helps
I also note that a key performance component is the SD/hard drive and because SD can be slow it might be better to boot the Rp5 from a sata disk??
I have a much bigger pc running win 10 i5 16gb with a 4 tuner sat dvb-t pci card. I started experimenting with linux because the windows set up repeatedly required reboots - especially after a windows update -(probably me and my settings - never got to the bottom of it but it was annoying) that set up also has hissy fits and buffers a lot. Would a win 11 machine be more stable?
I am a fan of linux so I wondered what the pros and const of linux v win are?
Also I note somewhere comments that the rp5 is not the most advanced SBC and a NUC100 is preferred ?
Am I right in saying one of the cons of Linux is that you cant always get the drivers for usb tuners? - Im not sure that the tuner card is all that good on my win10 set up. Obvoiusly I cant use that coard on a NUC100 or rp5 so the issue of usb tuners is important
Using the latest NextPVR for Apple TV with the latest tvOS release, as well as the latest NextPVR release for Windows on each "server". I have anywhere from 2 to 3 NextPVR servers listed in the servers list on my Apple TV App. If I go into one of the servers and begin watching a channel, it works fine. If I back out to the servers list and pick another server, the guide displays, but trying to play a channel results in a black screen (no playback). If I “swipe close”/"force close" the Apple TV app and open it again, I can go into the non working server and play a channel without issue. Rinse and repeat for any combination of servers I try.
I do notice that if I monitor the tray icon/stream detail on the first chosen NextPVR “server” (all Windows 11), the tray icon and detail indicates the stream continues even when I’ve backed out to the main servers list and chosen a new server in the Apple TV app. For lack of better words, it seems like the app isn’t “releasing” a stream when backing out to the server list picker, only when “swipe closing” or “force closing” the app.
Is this expected activity, or can anyone else recreate this?
I was playing around with IPTV, trying out NextPVR and stumbled upon two issues.
First basic information or scenario:
NextPVR -> docker(-compose): stable -> Version: 7.0.1.241229 (please provide proper version tags )
Country: Germany/DE
ISP/Provider: Telekom (MagentaTV)
Client: Kodi
Issue 1 - RTP streams
I'm in Germany and I'm receiving 'MagentaTV' via my ISP. Here's a collection of the multicast addresses I can use to tune in to the channel streams: https://db.iptv.blog/multicastadressliste
Code:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="id1", Das Erste
rtp://87.141.215.251@232.0.20.35:10000
...
As you can see the `.m3u` file contains `rtp://` URLs. While I can watch them just fine with VLC and also with Kodi's `IPTV Simple Client`, when I try to import this .m3u in NextPVR it doesn't find any channels.
Now I found an older post on this forum by @sub mentioning rtp (or atleast rtps) is not supported. What's the status now?
The same site also provides a ffmpeg list which contains `udp://` URLs.
Code:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,Das Erste
udp://@232.0.20.35:10000?sources=87.141.215.251
...
Importing that .m3u will result in the correct channels being found but I can't watch them. At least not in the webinterface. The log indicates that the transcoder fails.
It will attempt several times before exiting. I can provide logs if needed but I'm not sure if it's actually helpful. VLC can't play those ffmpeg version links.
So I tried to play these in Kodi which brings me to..
Issue 2 - docker IP in Kodi client settings
When I configure the Kodi NextPVR client add-on I enter the IP of the host running the docker container as `NextPVR hostname` which ofc is a local IP (192.168.178.10).
However when I try to enable the add-on it seems to communicate with the NextPVR server and sets a different IP (172.18.0.2) on its own. That is the docker virtual gateway IP which is the gateway between host and container.
Resulting in the add-on failling to be enabled.
Lastly just to make sure I'm working on the correct assumptions here..
With NextPVR I can receive IPTV streams from my provider (or other devices which is not applicable in my scenario).
Clients can either receive a transcoded version of the streams or play them natively (are the streams redirected or do the clients just play them directly?).
Clients can also schedule recordings which will be performed by the server.
Recordings can be played by all clients.
Clients can use timeshift and play from the server's buffer.
Is this an accurate understanding of what NextPVR offers?
Thanks for taking your time reading this. Looking forward to any replies.
Hello.
I am having an issue with being able to skip/fast forward/rewind/resume downloaded VOD files. Live TV recordings work, but downloads from the VOD section do not. I checked the files from VOD download examples and notice the TS file and M3U8 file where as live TV recordings have a TS file, THUMBNAILS, TIMING and an XML file.
Header information in the M3U8 for the VOD download file does not appear to have a Start or End time, just a list of "BYTERANGE" entries.
TIMING file and XML file for the live TV recording appear to have information that may be why skip/fast forward/rewind/resume works.
Can you tell me if there is a setting that can be adjusted to have similar XML file output or TIMING file output like the live recordings to use with VOD downloads? Something that maybe I am overlooking? Post processing script that may help? Possible other reason for not being able to skip/fast forward/rewind/resume downloaded VOD files?
I am on NextPVR Version 7.0.1.241229 running on Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS and testing both the Kodi client version 22.4.0 for Android/Nvidia Shield and the native NextPVR client for Android.
Happened to be working with TV apps of all kinds on my Win10 system today. Upgraded to v7.0.1 of NextPVR Windows client, in support of my SD Flex-4K network tuner. I am running NextPVR server on this Win10 system, including DVR software and EPG guide (through my Schedules Direct subscription which happens to also be used as the EPG Guide data source for my other "production" desktop Win7 Windows Media Center world supporting both OTA ATSC 1.0 via Hauppauge Quad-HD tuner and Ceton cablecard-enabled tuner for Spectrum DRM cable).
Verified that latest (20250315 UI) HDHR client app on Win10 works fine, and it does. Verified that latest (20250315) HDHR client app on my Samsung S21 Ultra phone works fine, and it does.
Then since I haven't run UIDROID on my phone for a long time, I decided to be sure I had the latest version. This forum says it is the new one using MediaX and the version I had installed several years back was for EXOPLAYER. So I downloaded the latest APK and used ADBLINK2 to side-load it onto my phone.
Then I tried to use it. The program launched properly, and even showed the TV Guide correctly. My channels are only the selected local ATSC 1.0 ones that I have interest in, as well as the three non-DRM ATSC 3.0 channels when those version exist.
However when I went to actually play an ATSC 1.0 channel I got sound but no video. Instead I got an error message "unsupported video". Simultaneously the normally green NextPVR icon (in the Windows notification area) went red! I then terminated UIDROID on the phone, and the red NextPVR icon turned back to green for just a brief period, before going gray!!
And now when I try to launch either HDHR or UIDROID on the phone it can't find the "server". I have to re-boot the Win10 system in order to get the NextPVR server working properly again, and showing a green icon.
==> What is this issue with "unsupported video"? Clearly this is then somehow causing havoc with NextPVR server, bringing it down (first to red, and then to gray out-of-service).
I still have the old EXOPLAYER APK. Should I reinstall that version, just to see if it will work?
1st- When I'm watching a show using the NPVR app on ATV, it will randomly freeze. I force close the app, then it can't find the server any longer on my mac. I go to my mac and restart the service and can get back in business but it's not optimal.
2nd- I'm having issue with EPG. looking at log it looks like the UpgradeEPG script file is missing. Do i need to reinstall?
