BBC4HD and BBC News HD - Any Ideas
Posted by: andrewj - 2018-07-16, 08:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi,
I seem to have lost access to several HD channels recently. This is a well known problem, and affects my TV as well as my PC/NPVR:

Has anyone else seen this, and if so is there any reliable fix?
Thanks
Andrew

  IRSS and channel-changing batch files
Posted by: Len_Lekx - 2018-07-16, 07:11 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (5)

(Hope this is the right forum to post this in - if not, please relocate it... Smile )

I'm looking into using NPVR as part of my HTPC/media server setup. Naturally, I want to use it for watching/recording live TV from my set-top boxes, but have run into a problem...

One of my STBs is an older model, and doesn't have a 'wake on IR' option. I've been thinking about using a batch file, called from the program, to do the job. Basically, all I'd need to do is this:

IRSend STB_On
Wait 3 sec
IRSend channel (+enter)

Now - it seems fairly straightforward to me, but I'm not experienced with using Windows batch files... so I have no idea if there will be any issues that might prevent this from working the way I expect it to.

Thoughts...?

Posted by: supple2018 - 2018-07-16, 03:52 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (4)

All of my channels were coming in the other day. Just yesterday some of my channels are only showing a black screen with audio for a few seconds. Today I tried a different service. A few channels were DOI the same thing on that service also. I tried to reimport the original IPTV sevice today and I get an error. Any ideas on what may be the problem? I'm running ffdshow decided and I did go into the settings and enable the mpeg settings.

Extremely buggy running and crashing in NPVR client, but not as Kodi back end...
Posted by: gdogg371 - 2018-07-16, 11:53 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I use the NPVR client directly for things like channel mapping, adding an executable and setting attendant argument mapping. I am using the Hauppauge Colossus 2 video capture card for my picture from a STB. When selecting a channel from the guide the viewing is catastrophically buffer heavy and jumpy. Usually after less than two minutes NPVR crashes altogether. When using the NPVR as a Kodi back end however, I have little to know picture problems, although Kodi does crash occasionally (hard to say where the blame lies there though.

Where do I need to look in the NPVR client to amend the settings to get smooth viewing and what are the recommended settings to achieve this?

Thanks

Copy channel mapping from 1 computer to another computer
Posted by: tomhilton1 - 2018-07-16, 06:34 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Is there a way to copy the channel mapping from one computer to another computer. I have two different computers with NextPVR on them. Configuring 99 channels is very time consuming, and prone to errors on my part. These are Win10 Pro systems with 8 hauppauge tuners each. One computer has dual quad tuners while the other has 1 quad tuner and 2 dual turners.

  Command Line Arguments for Executable
Posted by: gdogg371 - 2018-07-15, 11:20 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (29)

Apologies if this is the incorrect sub thread, but after coming on here a few months back for a bit of steer on using an executable to change channels on my STB, I have now built something in C++ to accomplish the task. I have then pointed NextPVR to the location of my executable. However I am not sure how the arguments bit is supposed to work. My executable accepts arguments from the command line of the fashion 'myexecutable.exe 4 0 1', where the numbers at the end are the three numbers required to change to that channel. This all works as expected when I call from the Window's Command Prompt, but not in Next PVR. Is there any documentation as to what I need to put here to get it to change the channel of my STB as desired?

  TVguide.com listings changed things again
Posted by: Legacy14 - 2018-07-15, 11:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Is anyone else using tvguide.com for listings? As of July 10, the login is now https (this is even mentioned on the zap2xml page), which prevents zap2xml from getting in. I only noticed now as I looked something up in the listings and saw it only had content until around the 18th. (I had my script set to download 8 days). I tried to manually run my epgupdate script and I can see it fails to login (it tries 3 times)

I tried switching to zap2it.com and I got "Not a HASH reference at script/zap2xml.pl line 1251."

Is either of these salvageable?

Edit: Sorry everyone, I just wasted your time if you read this. I should have clued in sooner to these facts:
1) the error message was related to the zap2xml.pl script
2) the change to the tvguide.com site was listed on the zap2xml developer's site, along with an updated version of the script

Conclusion: download and use the latest version of the zap2xml script and all is good.

NextPVR recordings almost always seemingly fail between 3 AM and 4 AM
Posted by: ChaosMageX - 2018-07-14, 01:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Well, it would seem that 3 AM to 4 AM is still a no-man's-land for recordings, as recordings of anything that airs within that time slot almost always seem to fail. In this case, it was Adult Swim's Williams Stream, which according to the interface, has seemingly failed because the recording service wasn't running at the time. And yet, when I go to look at the files themselves, they seem to have recorded successfully in full, and can even be played with any video file player. The problem is that I can't play them in NextPVR itself and I can't play them or even see them in X-NEWA in Kodi running on either of my Amazon Fire TV boxes. I'm not sure whether this problem is related to the other issue with recording bifurcation, so I decided to start a separate thread for it.

Here are screenshots illustrating the problem:

Here is a backup of my NextPVR logs from around the time the problem happened:
