New Reader/Demux causing bad stuttering on Playback
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2017-10-19, 07:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I've just gotten round to installing 4.0.4 from the latest download link tonight. Right away on playback it just stutters - The video doesn't play smoothly and the audio is constantly cutting in and out.

I was using the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video / Audio decoders so I tried switching to LAV and it was no better. I also went and downloaded the latest LAV decoders and it made no difference.

Even when I went back to legacy it was still a little unreliable so I downloaded the "patches" from the thread "Playback problems resolved" and now back to the Microsoft DTV-DVD decoder I'm playing as good as ever. I tried the LAV Decoders again and even after the patches I found with LAV its a lot slower to resume after a skip than the Microsoft ones - The audio comes back right away but the video stalls for a while before suddenly catching up.

I'm running Windows 10 but I did an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 recently so I'm guessing thats why I've got the MS DTV-DVD decoder as it came with Media Center updates?? I'm picking a clean install of Windows 10 wouldn't include that decoder??

I have always been using LAV for the all the audio decoders other than MPEG2 as it seems to work really well with NZ Freeview Audio which was problematic in the early switch to digital TV here.

Interestingly the first time I launched NPVR after updating it reported that a new version was available - Is the download link right or is there actually a newer build??

Anyway - Overall its back to running smoothly - I've been a long time user and love the product - It works very well in NZ assuming you can get your hands on a good Tuner Card which seems to be getting a little trickier these days.

Let me know if switching back to the new demux and playing and grabbing some logs is going to help you at this point but I'm picking its a work in progress for you anyway?

  problem importing recording-backup
Posted by: Bobins - 2017-10-18, 10:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Unfortunately I'm having to rebuild my NPVR main machine.

I exported the recordings and recurring recordings into their backups and then tried importing them on my new build.
The recurring recordings import no problem but when I try to import the recording-backup.xml NPVR says no recordings imported. No error is reported.

I've checked the recording-backup.xml file and it does contain all my recordings detail.

What would stop the recordings data from importing? Must my files actually be present as I've not attached the disk with them on yet?

  Kodi 17 and comskip
Posted by: reven - 2017-10-18, 09:28 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (5)

been ages since I used kodi and nextpvr together. but does the kodi nextpvr pvr addon allow you to use comskip files?

I tried and nothing seems to happen kodis end with them, no auto skip or highlighting on the timeline where they are etc.

I tried playing the recordings via the pvr addon and also from a smb folder directly. no joy.

if they do work, is there something extra you have to do?

Stuttering on Watching but not on playback of Recording
Posted by: Bunkermentality - 2017-10-18, 02:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm very new to nPVR and am doing a proof of concept test.

I've installed correctly and am able to Watch and Record. When Watching, the screen immediately displays an error "Missing Audio? You don't have AAC decoder selected. You can fix this in settings". However after a few seconds this error disappears and sound appears. But the stuttering is extreme. But if I Record the same show then the replay of the recording works OK.

I can see a thread about similar behaviour here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ht=stutter

Using the advice in that thread I have installed LAV codecs and these fixed an original problem of no sound at all.

Any ideas or advice welcome.

My source stream is IPTV.

Service and GUI don't start on Windows 10 Fall creators update (1709)
Posted by: tvfiend - 2017-10-18, 04:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Everything worked well up until today when I updated to Windows 10 1709. Now the NPVR service doesn't start and the GUI immediately exits after opening. I have tried removing and installing NextPVR 4.0.4 which had no effect. Below is some info that might help:

  Private IPv6 address support
Posted by: mvallevand - 2017-10-17, 08:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Sub I have problems with sid session timeouts over IPv6 because they are not being identified as private network, the problem looks to be in StreamNative

2017-10-17 15:47:37.448 [DEBUG][20] StreamNative@2
2017-10-17 15:47:37.448 [DEBUG][20] Not allowing internet based streaming request from: fddc:fe64:aca4:6f33:4d98:f7a0:c739:53c1

I suspect is the code is case sensitive since I know we talked about the fd and fe80 subnets before.

The good news is I found this testing Fall Creators Update and all seems good so far.

  NextPVR Addon for OpenElec
Posted by: karmakoma - 2017-10-17, 12:04 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

Hello, where can I find the NextPVR addon for OpenElec (Kodi v17.30)?

The PVR add-ons list does not appear under Add-ons menu. Is it available in a repository?

Searching in google has yielded no definitive answer.

Thanks!

Can't get MP4 file to play
Posted by: sydneybrit - 2017-10-16, 09:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (33)

Hi there

I've been trying to get this video file to play in NextPVR, without success:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hom718ecvl6zek...9.mp4?dl=0

My setup is:

  • Windows 10 Home
  • NextPVR 4.0.4
  • SAF 632 codec pack

I've attached the NPVR logs, and 2 image files - one showing the Codec Information when the video file is played in VLC an the other, when GraphEdit renders the file.

The VLC code info shows the file contains 2 video streams (H264 MPEG-4 AVC and MJPG), an audio stream and subtitles. The GraphEdit shows that the LAV decoders are used for both Video and Audio.

I've read that for anything other than .ts files, NextPVR hands the file to Windows to decode, but in that case i'm not sure why the LAV decoders are used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been trying to resolve this issues for the last couple of days.
