I have the nextpvr program as well as the NextPVR plugin in Kodi on my computer. As a newbe, I have run into a bunch of questions on programming timers.
Generally, I want to program a number of timers to record a variety of shows on a weekly basis. I don't want to record any reruns, only new episodes. I also want to allow for the stations changing the schedule day or time in a particular week. I have tried a number of sequences but can't seem to accomplish both objectives.
Using NextPVR I double click the guide and I have the option of Record Season (New or All episodes). Selection New seems OK until I look at the timer in Kodi. Here it shows that the show only records between the hours as set by the episode selected in the guide, i.e. "Any day from xx to yy".
In Kodi, I select a program and right click to Add Timer. Now I am offered the choice of Type. If I choose "Repeating(Guide)", the scheduled time is "Any day from xx to yy". If I choose "Repeating (Keyword)", the scheduled time shows as "Any day at any time". In both cases there doesn't seem to be an option for limiting the recordings to Only New Episodes.
What is the magic combination to get "Only New Episodes" and "Any day at any time" ?
------------------------------------------
I also have a problem with trying to simultaneously record the same show on two different channels. I am trying to test the quality of OTA recordings but don't want to miss a show in case there is a problem such as bad weather. When I try to program the second copy of the show, it doesn't want to program both copyies for recording. How can I defeat this 'feature'?
-----------------------------------------
Also, there is a particular show that usually appears on the HD station and is followed later on the SD station (both OTA). Normally, I prefer to watch the HD version but sometimes the HD station skips the show so I have to watch it in its SD versions. Is it possible to specify "Any Channel" for a timer or do I just have to make two timers?
-----------------------------------------
Finally, the 'Timers' listing in Kodi has a columns "Status". What is the function of "Enabled" and how is it set?
If I click on a repeating program, the sub list shows each scheduled recording with a Type of "Child Recording". Does this have a meaning?
Would you consider adding an option for NScriptHelper.exe that would return the number of currently active recordings?
With pre- and post-padding overlap (primarily on hour show changeover times), I'm semi-frequently seeing 6+ recordings going on simultaneously. When you add in 1 playback stream and 1 or 2 comskip batches, it seems that the main recording drive is sometimes being overwhelmed. I already throttle the comskip processing to limit it to 2 concurrent processes all the time. But I was thinking that possibly limiting it to 1 (or 0) when the number of active recordings is above a certain count might help. Making that change to my script would be fairly easy if NScripthelper.exe could return the current active recording count.
Recently moved to NextPVR from Argus due to lack of any development on Argus. Built a new TVServer machine with NextPVR (HDHomeRun Tuners), recordings etc.
Next day I check - no recordings - looks like the PC did not wake up. Checked the forums - saw that NextPVR schedules wakeup via windows API's, and they should be visible via the command 'powercfg -waketimers' in a DOS Admin window. Running that command gave me an error (0x65b) - all other powercfg commands work. Did some research and the only advice was to do a restore. Oh Well.
I reformatted the drive - installed fresh Windows. This time after installing every update and every piece of software, I would run the 'powercfg -waketimers' command to see if it was still okay. Till the last - everything was okay. With all software installed I scheduled a recording. Checked the 'powercfg -waketimers' command. Corrupted - same error (0x65b). All other powercfg commands work.
Totally puzzled - how scheduling a recording in NextPVR can do this. Anyone encounter this?
Thankyou in advance...cannot get guide to display, cannot play recorded shows

I've been battling with getting playback of recorded tv to skip commercials using X-NEWA.
Headless PC running Windows 7 with NextPVR installed. Records locally to D:\Recorded TV\ and this is a share (smb://192.168.168.128/Recorded TV/). Comskip is kicked off by NextPVR as per standard practice and is creating the .edl file correctly. Yes, comskip.ini has edl_skip_field=3 set.
LibreELEC 7.0.2 (KODI Jarvis) is running on other systems in the house with the X-NEWA plugin. All functions seem to work fine (well, live TV is a problem at the moment but that's another thread if I can't debug it...). The problem is that playback of a recording in X-NEWA is not commercial skipping. If I play it in KODI just by selecting the recorded file directly from the folder (I've added the folder as a source), it plays and skips the commercials just fine.
So... research here tells me to use folder substitution in KODI's advancedsettings.xml - No Problem:
(Yes, the other required lines are there, just showing the two pertinent lines)
Here's my question (finally):
The <from> is from who's perspective? How would KODI know anything about a D: drive which is on a totally different system. KODI has no issue understanding the <to> so it's happy to use the smb... but in place of what, since KODI knows nothing about the D: path. In any case it does't work for me... do you see anything wrong with these two lines?
HI,
I have installed NPVR and have been having some issues getting it to work. I have an AVerMedia H752 TV Tuner Card running Windows 10 in Adelaide Australia. When I try to watch TV NPVR locks up. In fact when it is just sitting idle it will eventually lock up (showing "not responding"). I have tried everything I know (very new to this) including a fresh install (which does not seem to be so fresh as all of my previous setting magically appear on re-installation). I have zipped and attached my log files if anyone can help me.

I've been using NextPVR for well over a year now. I went to run it this morning, and when clicked on the icon, I saw the Microsoft spinning icon, and then nothing happened. I look at the windows services and it says NextPVR is not running. I tried to run the service and got an error which I've uploaded. I checked the log files, and there is nothing in there. No files at all. Just for fun I did a system restore to a couple days ago, and continue to have the same issue. Uninstalled, and reinstalled NextPVR, and still no luck. Without the log files I am not sure what further information I can give.
This may be more system information than you need, but if I can provide anything else, please let me know.
Thank you in advance.

Just installed NPVR 3.9.2.161119 but cannot get it to show live TV. I downloaded EPG, Setup the TV adaptor, installed SAF 6.32. Main screen shows EPG list but when I tried to view a channel the recording service stops and I get message "unable to communicate with recording service". Event viewer shows nrecord.exe stops with Faulting module name: DivX.dll. Same with NDigitalHost.exe, same dll. Yet I can run the recording service with a command line window using "cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR" & nrecord.exe RUN" and it all works well. But I have to keep the command line window open with nrecord running. If I close this window NextPVR hangs.
The divx.dll module referenced in Event Viewer was not in system32 as the viewer claimed it was so I downloaded one from http://www.dlldump.com but it made no difference. I have now reinstalled NextPVR 4 times.
Any ideas?
