Hello all. Before even explaining what my issue is, I want to start by saying that this issue IS NOT the fault of NPVR software or my Happauge PVR Unit in any way. I am merely just looking for suggestions from people that may have run into this.
Hardware I am using:
Windows 10
Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR
Direct TV Receiver - H25-100
This problem originated a couple of years ago......way before I used NPVR and had a totally different computer and something other than the happauge PVR. (As a matter of fact, it was a MAC). What was happening (And, this was random) when the PVR unit that I had at the time would change the channel to record a program, the 1st digit of the channel was not being relayed to the Direct TV receiver box. For example, if I had a schedule to record channel 228, it would tune into 28 instead (because the Direct TV box was sluggish and didnt catch the 1st digit of the needed channel)
I didnt really feel like troubleshooting this, so I lived with it for about a year. Then, it was time for me to eventually get a new computer. I went with Windows 10, NPVR and the Happauge box. While switching out the computer, i thought, "Finally, things will work right now...no more worrying that it is going to miss digits when switching channels (assuming that the problem was with my computer setup.)"
Well, once everything was hooked up (New PC , new PVR New Software,..etc..etc..) it continued to do what it was doing (being sluggish and sometimes missing the first digit of the channel change). I now KNEW this was no coincidence. It HAD to be the Direct TV box. That was the only piece of hardware that wasnt switched out. So, I had 3 DirectTV boxes in my house...one night, I figured I would switch the DTV receiver out with a different opne from a different location at my house, and low and behold, my problem was GONE !!!!! No more worrying about the channels......all was smooth......never missed a digit with schedules anymore and was as smooth as butter...it was a happy time
That was 8 months ago..........and, guess what happened last night ? It all came back to haunt me........the DTV box is doing the same thing as the older DTV Box that was messing up on me. I know it isnt NPVR or my PVR unit because I can see the IR blaster flashing the fist digit trying to change the channel and I am watching the Direct TV box miss the first digit. This is infuriating......and, i have the PVR IR Blaster stuck DIRECTLY to the face of the Direct TV box where the sensor is.
Something worth mentioning: This seems to happen mostly after the DirectTV box has been sitting idel for a while. If I try to replciate the issue, I can sometimes sit here and change channels for 10 minutes straight and it works every time.
I have tried to reset my direct TV box to default settings (A full reset), but, that didnt work.
Do you think maybe Direct TV did a software update that rendered my box sluggish ? Maybe that's what happened with the old box?
My direct TV box has been around for a while so I suppose an upgrade wouldn't hurt, but, I wanted to see if anyone else ever had an issue like this.
I'm running NPVR 3.9.2 on Windows 7, using a PCTV 292e DVB-T2 adaptor, receiving UK TV channels.
I can record both DVB-T (SD channels) and DVB-T2 (mainly HD channels) perfectly, but I can't play Live TV if I select an HD channel (SD channels play fine). I get an error message "Missing Audio? You don't have an AAC decoder defined - got to Settings > Decoders". But I *do* have an AAC decoder defined: it is set to Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder", as for MPEG1 and AC3 (all these are in the Audio Decoders section). I have stopped and restarted NPVR after saving the changes.
This is a problem that I've seen for a long time, but it didn't show up/bother me enough until we upgraded to a new larger, 4K TV. :p
When NextPVR generates screens for the webclient to display, the text has a "textured" background. This effect is especially visible when an item (as in the Recordings List) is selected so the element background is a solid white. Here's a sample screen image file which is sent from the webclient server to X-NEWA on my RPi.

Note that (at least for me) it looks OK when displayed normally here in this post. But if you zoom in and focus on text, you see the textured/pixelated background around the text.
Is there anything that I can change in the skin file or NextPVR settings to prevent this effect?

Well this could be very good news for NextPVR fans, especially new users. Of course, the details can always be a problem. There appears to a MPEG2 Video Extension available in the Microsoft App Store: ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9n95q1zzpmh4.
For know, you have to be on the Win10 insider program to make use of this app. The implication seems that once the next major Win10 update is released the MPEG2 video extension will be available to all Win10 users when there system gets updated to the next major release. The next major release for Win10 is currently called "Creators Update" (code name: Red stone 2) and should be released in March of 2017.
The $64,00 question is will this extension only work on Win10 UWP apps? Will NextPVR have access to this codec?
Any one out there currently on the Windows Insider program for Win10?
I need to setup a recording for any day of the week *except* one day. My recollection is I can do that with the old web client, but the modern one doesn't have any of those options. I thought there was a way to switch between the two, but after 30 minutes looking through config files and searching the forum, I'm not having any luck.
So, can and I still switch to the classic web interface? And if so, how?
When I searched the forum I guess I sort of asked this question a few years ago http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ediaMVP-HD but never really ran it to ground.
When I play GoPro Vids 1920x1080 60fps 30k kbps on NMT or in Kodi on RPi2, the video starts then stops, then (in Kodi 17 on Librelec 7.9.5) I can see a buffering bar, and if I hit pause and that bar gets ahead of the playback bar it will play OK (until the buffer catches up).
It's a bit annoying as sometimes it plays by itself after buffering (shorter vids) but sometimes it just stops and jumps out of the vid.
The video file plays fine on the PC both in NPVR or directly.
I attach logs, I am not sure if they are useful?
When it plays, it plays fine - so it seems (as per previous thread) the clients are actually fine.
So, does this mean the PC (NPVR) has to process /stream the file first and could it be my computer that is the bottleneck for the playback?
Got Ir blaster to work. added channel groups nextpvr lists devices that include Hauppauge HVR USB2 Video Capture but when trying to use it I only get audio. Assume that S-Video is being selected (no input) but not Composite. How do I select Composite input? Included Logs, filtertest logs also. Also note the NPVR does not work if installed on a different drive as the service still tries to load off the C: drive. I added a softlink to fix.
