In October I was able to record programs to my NAS - that stopped working and I cannot configure NextPVR recordings to save there; it will only save to "USERS" on local machine. I get an error message from NextPVR when I try to use "\" to add the NAS to where to save recordings and cannot use 192.168.1.7 as an "edit" since this option isn't available under "network" (which doesn't see the NAS) and other "browse" options are all local machine. I haven't attached logs since recordings work to local machine; I just can't point NextPVR to the NAS.
My network:
I have several computers running latest Windows 10 and a network attached storage device (WD MyCloudEX4100 NAS) connected to a router via CAT7 ethernet for my home network. I can map drives to the NAS and use other workarounds to connect to it, however, it does not show up in File Explorer. This is hampering my ability to save recordings from my HTPC to the NAS. WD support helped me set up links to the MyCloudEX4100 that enable me to r/w from all my computers but was unable to resolve the issue that File Manager doesn't see the NAS unless I open it via one of those links.
My HTPC connects to an outdoor antenna via a Hauppauge WinTV USB device and is running NextPVR to access a channel directory, launch and retrieve recordings. [I run a PLEX server to organize media and Kodi as my front end.] When originally set up, I was able to configure NextPVR to store recordings to the NAS, however, this stopped working and because Win10 isn't seeing the NAS, I have been unable to resume saving recordings to it; I can only get them to save to USERS on the local PC which has limited storage capacity (.5 TB) while the NAS has 24 TB.
The "Win10 can't see NAS" issue shows up in multiple forums; I found a "fix" in one (below) but step 3 won't execute.
"Can't see NAS drives in your network on Windows 10? Here is the solution:
1/ run cmd as admin
2/ sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
3/ sc.exe config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
Restart and you are done!"
I am hoping that this posting will help me resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for any leads you can send my way.

instead of going back to the main menu. I noticed this issue immediately upon upgrading to this 3.9.2 version many weeks ago from 3.8.3. However I did not think it too significant as I would just hit ENTER to cause it to go back to live tv and then I would use the stop "square" symbol to get it to go back to the main menu. It does not happen consistently and I cannot determine what causes it. Some days it does hang on escape others it wont. It annoys my lovely wife endlessly though so I have caved in and decided to report it. The program never crashes when it does this as ENTER usually gets it to go back to LIVE TV. Using escape multiple times does not seem to move it off the blank screen.
Wish I had more background info to offer but really nothing other I am using all the default settings the installer puts in. Its a new 3-4 month old WIndows 10 HOME machine version 1607. OS build 14393.693. 8GB RAM
Currently the screen saver appears to always use the 1st Digital Pictures location from which to select random images. When multiple picture sources are defined, please allow us to select which one will be used.
It would also be nice if a screen saver type random picture display could be triggered from within the Pictures menu at any time.
Lastly, it would be nice to be able to skip over pictures below a specific size,
for example I have a number of thumbnails stored in my pictures archive that I don't really want to display.
P.S. I really really like the screen saver feature!
I am moving over from being a long-time user of TVListings plugin, but given issues with current version, I need to use the standard TV Guide and Recordings screens. I have seen others showing metadata/artwork, including backdrops, for Recordings. While I see a show thumbnail or poster in the individual program listing when I click on it, should their be that same or similar poster in the right-side column description area in the Recordings screens? Also, I have seen mention of swapping the default backdrop (wallpaper) for a custom show backdrop when viewing episodes etc. I think I have the artwork area of the settings configured to show everything available on these, and use Schedules Direct, and have all the artwork sources selected. Is there something I am missing that would enable the backdrops or other meta artwork?
Where can nDroid can be downloaded from? I checked the Google Play store, using both the search function and the barcode scan provided, but no search results. Is this still an actively developed app?
Since the latest update, I have some recordings ending early, with no failure notice in the What's New panel.
That is, for instance in the logs, a recording of #5504 Sherlock - The Final Problem - set for 2 hours (17:00 - 19:00). As near as I can tell from my scan of the logs, it ran the correct times. However, the resulting file is approx. only 1 hour, 40 minutes long. Other recordings have been similarly trimmed, although most others still record properly for the entire length.
As a separate issue, recording on a strong channel, I get some reported complete failures (usually 0 bytes). For instance, set 4 sitcoms, each 1/2 hour, one after the other. First records OK, whereas some of the following ones fail. Not due to a weak signal.
Recording is through 2 HD HomeRuns, directly attached to a fast recording computer (Win 8.1 64-bit) via a gigabyte switch. Digital antenna (not cable) connection.
I have had a problem since there was a change to a so called more modern GUI. Sometimes when you hit stop either on the remote or with the mouse, the screen will go black and stay that way for hours if you do nothing. If you click on the screen with the mouse multiple times, you get a message box with the options to close the program or wait for it to respond. This happens about every 4 times or so. I am using version 3.9.2. I have tried various decoders with no help. I posted this a few months ago with no help. I am hoping that somebody has had this problem since then and solved it.
Hi, is there a way to look back at previous guide entries eg the last 24 hours so I can go back to a program that I missed to get the recording option so I dont miss next weeks,
I upgraded from GB-PVR/MediaMVP to NextPVR
with a Samsung SmartTV last year but I'm having
a newer freeze issue that is very annoying.
When I first upgraded, a very significant number
of recorded SD TV shows with marked commercials
looped uncontrollably during initial playback.
The first few seconds were shown over and over.
I initially avoided this issue using "999"
but eventually post-processed the .edl file
to remove short initial commercial skips;
this fixed most loops.
I'm not sure when it started but my most recent
issue is a playback freeze near the end of many shows.
For example, tonight we watched Top Chef.
For 90% of the show, everything went well.
Then near the finale, the playback freezes at 20:10.
No keypresses restart the video so I cancel the
current playback, restart the show and try to
skip forward to where it froze. Often, but not always,
my skip forward requests are ignored but eventually
I manage to restart the video at the frozen position.
This gets very tedious when you have to do it over and over!
