NPVR Crashes After ~ 1 minute
Posted by: Fritters - 2016-09-20, 02:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I'm having a problem where NPVR crashes after just about a minute of playback. I've used NPVR with and without Kodi in the past without issue - this new problem has appeared after I had to wipe my system and do a clean install of Windows 7. In case it is related, Kodi also isn't recognizing the NPVR is running (starting and stopping the service doesn't help, nor does disabling/re-enabling the add-on or Live TV).

Any suggestions on what I can try to get NPVR back up and running?

Thanks,
Fritters

NextPVR menu options missing with install 3.7.7 on Windows 10
Posted by: zigzag930 - 2016-09-19, 09:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Had previous 3.6? version of NPVR installed on Windows 10 and it worked fine. Upgraded to 3.7.7 and now when I start NPVR, only options are LiveTV, DVD and EXIT. All the other options are gone for Guide, etc.

Can't schedule, find recordings, etc. Recording services appear to be working as I can remotely see pending recordings via HTTP interface.

Any thoughts?

  X-NEWA Usage
Posted by: jcole998 - 2016-09-19, 07:49 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (5)

Hello.

I've been trying mightily to research and gain the knowledge of how to get live TV on my Android tablet using the following three components:
1 - NextPVR
2 - X-NEWA
3 - Kodi

NextPVR works perfectly on my main desktop. I have several NextPVR client machines(a laptop and another desktop) and they work well also. X-NEWA seems to be what I want to move to for operations outside of my LAN especially on my Android tablet. How is this done? I tried several "step-by-steps" and did indeed get live TV for a few brief seconds but I have yet to do it again even after again following the step-by-step. I don't fully understand how these three parts work together. The documentation I've looked at seems to be well out-of-date. Are they still correct?

Can you help?

  Auto Extend Sports
Posted by: Tacoma - 2016-09-19, 01:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I have checked the box to Auto Extend Sports recordings. So far, not one of the football game recordings has been extended beyond the scheduled time. I use Schedules Direct as my EPG source. I am running Windows 10 with a HAUPPAUGE WinTV-DualHD Dual USB 2.0 HD TV Tuner. I use Comskip with a parallelprocessing.bat on all recordings. I have no other issues with recordings or any other functions of NextPVR program.

Switced Digital Channel tuning on Hauppauge 2250 and Avermedia MythDuet A188C
Posted by: TVHelp - 2016-09-18, 10:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

First, I want to apologize that I don't have log files. This is an issue for my sister I am trying to hunt down and forgot to pull the logs before I made my 200 mile drive home. Will get them later if needed.

I won't bore you with the background, but due to recent digital cable changes, Time Warner Milwaukee, we were reinstalling NPVR 3.7.7 (latest version as of today), and found that neither tuner would pick up all the ClearQAM channels (local broadcast, not a copy protection issue). I believe the issue is that they have also switched the Clear QAM to be Switched Digital channels. Luckily I had a backup of previous tuning and just copied all my NPVR folder over and confirmed the channels can be viewed in live tv of NPVR with that last tuning, except two that appear to have switch frequencies as well.

I read in another post about Cton IninTV handling this type of tuning specifically for switched channels. Does anyone know if there is a way to get switched digital channels to automatically tune for the Hauppage 2250 and Avermedia MythDuet A188C without having to rent a digital converter box or whatever they would recommend. I have posted questions to the manufacturers as well, but might get a faster response here.

If not, is there a way to manually add the channels, assuming I can determine their actual frequencies?

  No DVB EPG
Posted by: newyankee - 2016-09-18, 04:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Haven't been here for quite some time. Everything has been working flawlessly for years.

However, now I have lost my OTA (DVB-C in my case) EPG completely. I can't figure out why. What I have done so far: Empty EPG, reload EPG. Export channels, delete channels, re-import channels. All channels are set to DVB/ATSC-EPG. I am hesitant to replace my npvr.db3 since I don't want to lose all my settings. Tuner is Astrometa DTV something with BDA drivers.

Logs are attached plus config and npvr.db

I would be grateful for any pointers.

NextPVR setup assistance with WinTV-HVR-1250 and VCR input only
Posted by: Amadeus - 2016-09-17, 07:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I am hoping someone might be able to assist me with setting up NextPVR so that I can use it to record videos from a VCR (rather than "live" television.) Basically, I'm using a WinTV-HVR-1250 card and the VCR is connected to it via a coaxial cable. I've used the VCR in the past and it works great, so I know that the hardware is good.

My first question is with regard to the devices I'm seeing in NextPVR. Is it a problem that it's saying WinTV 885 instead of WinTV 1250? Please see attachment for screenshot of my NextPVR "devices" tab along with the WinTV entry from my Windows 10 Device Manager.

Otherwise, I'm assuming that, if everything is working properly, I should be able to start playing on the VCR and then go to the devices and click "scan" and it would find the channel, correct? At this point, this is not working...at least, it didn't find the channel within the first 10 or so (and I'm assuming it should be channel 3 or 4.) I saw an older thread here on the forums suggesting to manually add the channel rather than using scan; however, I can't find that option in the UI, so I figured it was removed at some point (?)

Finally, could someone advise whether I should use the ATSC or QAM tuner for playing/recording from a VCR? (Or, does it not matter?)

Thanks in advance!

  live tv transcoding
Posted by: chiefmongo - 2016-09-17, 03:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Does the NextPVR service transcode live tv streams to a more efficient codec than MPEG2 such as H264? I have a hdhomerun prime and an android tv that is struggling to stream MPEG2 because of slow wifi, so I would like to use a service like NextPVR to transcode that stream to H264. Please let me know... thanks!
